Thank You Leatherist.... I think I understand a bit more !!!! At least someone answered my question ... I was beginning to think that I would go through life not knowing the answer and then my life would have been pointless... but thanks again Leatherist so much for answering my question :)

WOW been impressive to read this thread many views but i stand by mine and have this to say...

There has always been slavery. As long as its possible for one person to have unlimited control over another or several others there will always be slavery, there is slavery today. There has not been any time in recorded history that SOME GROUP of people has not been enslaved. Hell The Roman Empire for example had slaves of every ethnic group in the world just about... my point is this, BLACK people are not and never will be the
largest most oppresed group in history, and also as far as slavery goes. I think its safe to say ( said this in earlier post here ) that Hitler probably used MORE slave labor during his occupation of Europe, than did ALL the white slave owners in american history combined. A. It was more recently B. it was mostly white people from europe.

You need to consider both the content and the cultural/historical context. The swastika is used in both current and ancient cultures with a variety of meanings. In Western societies, it is recognized as the logo for Nazis and Neo Nazis.

First go check the wiki page it explains that the so called rebel flag never existed while the CSA existed. It was invented afterwards and came to prominence during the Civil Rights era when state legislatures all over the south added it to their flags or directed it to be flown. I grew up in Georgia and I certainly saw it waved by racists. thanks....i doubt anyone would notice the difference if i flew one of the flags that is shown on that page, because they would see only the part that screamed nazi denying racist, but i understand your point now. and the following rant isnt directed to you Ken, just in general.

the kkk has been all around here, as i mentioned in my post. they were a free sideshow at the fair for a few years. stone mountain is just one huge monument to slavery i guess, looked at from the eyes of some. maybe instead of the south trying to leave the union again, we should just be kicked out.

im amazed to learn how we are viewed by others. amazed more to learn how easily the bs is believed by folks who have never been here or who move here and seem to hate everything we are, yet they choose to stay.

no ones mind will change on this i dont think....which is understandable and sad. those screaming that we are nothing but racists hear only that and have no desires to hear any other reasons we are proud to be from the south....yet they want us to change how we are, because they say so, and they know so much better where our heart and soul is than we do.

ppppffftthhhh......come to my house tonight, when there will be probably 10 folks here, half black and half white more than likely, and tell them you think im a racist. id bet ya gonna get ya ass walked to the curb quickly, if youre lucky.

the south....it aint much but its home, and i plan to stay here. and im damn proud of the way we act.......the wacko folks that get the publicity are not an accurate portrayal of the south i have grown up in.

When I was in the ATL area a few weeks ago (Kennesaw, to be exact), I was sad to see that 'Wildman' is still alive and kicking. However, recently his store had been vandalized (yay to whoever did it!!). This .... waste of sperm... has an AMC Pacer that he often drives, sporting bumperstickers that say things such as: "if it's brown, flush it".

im not leaping to his defense.....im saying hes nuts and many, if not most, wish he would disappear. but he is here and we cant change that.

personally, id rather have folks like him out in the light of day, where we can watch them. theyre a lot less likely to do harm that way.

but he does have the right to his beliefs, to spew his ideas forth, no matter how dumb they are. as long as he doesnt hurt anyone, its not breaking a law.

I used to work at a cafe next door to his store. one day the cook and I were taking the garbage out to the dumpster and noticed he'd left the windows of the pacer open..

we looked at each other, thinking the same thing...

but didn't dump the garbage in his car (as tempting as it was).

Good for you, Greedy. It wouldn't have been worth it: doing harm to others only turns back against you eventually. Even if the people in question are complete turds... it must have been hard to resist the temptation though
