Before I was a Mom

Before I was a Mom -
I slept as late as I wanted and never worried about how late I got into bed. I brushed my hair and my teeth everyday.

Before I was a Mom -
I cleaned my house each day. I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom -
I had never been puked on - Pooped on - Spit on - Chewed on, or Peed on. I had complete control of my mind and My thoughts. I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom -
I never held down a screaming child so that doctors could do tests...or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom -
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put it down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life
so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom -
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important.

Before I was a Mom -
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known The warmth, The joy, The love, The heartache, The wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much before I was a Mom.

As for the rest of my mechanical skills, they've just come to me over time...I'm basically one of those who can take something apart and figure out how it runs, and then put it back together again.  Thank goodness for the Interwebz......that's how I did my own work on my scooter!

The interwebz is wonderful.  That is where I got the diagram for putting back on my dryer belt.  [:)]

Only if you can identify the proper screwdriver to do it with!!!!!  [8|]

Aylee, found the tee for you. http://www.davidandgoliathtees.com/product/DETAIL/5966 But he might get a wee bit upset at it.

That was the picture on the button pin I was thinking of.  Unfortunatly he does not wear t-shirts.  I doubt that he would be upset though.  He does seem to have unmanly feelings about his lack of mechanical skills.  *grinz*

If I have a manual, I can attempt to repair things. But without step by step directions I haven't a clue. Because diagnosing the problem requires a knowledge of how things are built.

Have you tried ehow?  You can type in your problem and it helps you find your answer.

And honestly even with step by step directions, I find many things require physical strength that I lack. Understanding how to change a tire doesn't make me able to loosen the nuts.

Now this problem I understand.  As far as loosening nuts and bolts, have The Man get you a pipe as a cheat.  Put the pipe over the handle of the ratchet.  Viola!  Extra leverage! For srewdrivers, use an adjustable wrench around the handle for the same thing.  [:)]

Thank you for posting that, Aylee. Happy Mothers Day!!

And my own:
Before i was a mom, i would leave the house with a purse...a small one...just one. And i would reach for the car keys off of the hook as i walked out the door, and THEY WOULD BE THERE. Then i would get into the car without having to move a whoopee cushion from the drivers seat. I could toss my SMALL purse (just one) into the back seat without having to worry about clobbering the occupant of the car seat, or worrying that he would get into it and toss Mommy's wallet out of the window.
I also didn't listen to the chatter of his happy voice as we drove, and hear the way three yr old eyes see the world. I never had my cynicism taken away and replaced with his innocent way of viewing things. I never knew i could love so much.

So..i'll keep looking for the car keys that are never where i left them, and i'll carry a huge purse loaded with baby wipes and toys, plus a cooler bag with juice and snacks. I'll sit on the whoopee cushion because it makes him laugh, and i'll put my purse on the front seat. And i'll still be surprised that i could love so much.

And don't forget that it only used to take a moment to get from the house to the car.  Now we have to stop and exaime rocks and leaves and pine cones and sticks and flowers.  [:)]

sirsholly -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (5/9/2010 7:26:07 AM)

and attempt to pick up a bug to keep them company in the back seat[:)]

ShaharThorne -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (5/9/2010 7:39:35 AM)

Adding..

taking the child to the hospital because the little one found a field mouse and picked it up, thinking it was Scabbers from the Harry Potter movie that we saw a few days ago.

And it bit her thumb.

My neighbor was all in a panic and called for EMS. I just wrapped the thumb in some papertowels and went to the ER to make sure it did not need stitches and get an antibiiotic shot.

YAY!  Tonight Butterhead found a bruised up lemon at the park to bring home to me.  *sigh*  No amount of conversation has convinced her that it is not, in fact, a "ball."  [8|]

Happily I have convinced her to leave it on the porch as she insists on throwing it.
