ShaharThorne -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/18/2011 12:21:08 PM)

I am working as fast as I can, Aylee.  I had to deal with hand cramps so I took 2 days off.

The afghan might be screwy on the sides but its from the tension changing during the cramps.

ShaharThorne -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/18/2011 1:42:55 PM)

I just volunteer to be a registration manager at the Ikkicon in Austin at the end of December.  It is an anime convention that Lizard attends every year.

Hopefully I get it because I hate sitting in the bloody hotel room with nothing to do while the kids have all of the fun.

Congrads again Aylee. Pulling for the little one here as well.

Thanks William. Ya know it is a grave situation. And we all know that the way you fight gravity is with levity! [:)] Actually he is getting better every day. He is up to four pounds and one ounce. [:D]

Ah yes, engorgement. It settles down after a month or so. You might see if you can get a hospital grade pump from La Leche. The battery operated ones are useless in the beginning.

I have a hospital grade pump. But thank you for the reminder that "this too shall pass." LOL I put Bessie the milch cow to shame. Although. . . you will find this amusing: Butterhead is fascinated by the pump and mommy making milk. Thankfully she has not started singing "Calling All Cows" everytime I use it.

No worries. It will just be proof that it was hand-made for him. [:D]

Aylee, that's good news that he's gaining weight!  I hope everyone's together in the same place soon, if not already there.

And I'm surprised that Butterhead hasn't run tha gamut of the cow comments.....she's too smart for your own good!  [:)]  Of course, she'll probably wait until you're out in public to say anything....kids have a way of doing that......it's like they KNOW!

yourdarkdesire -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/18/2011 8:55:07 PM)

So Aylee - are we going to get any pictures of the new busom?
Glad to hear the little one is continuing to thrive. Our thoughts are with you all.

Thanks! It should not be too much longer. Perhaps a couple days before Halloween. I need to get started on his costume. (Butterhead's is already taken care of, just needs a leotard and tights so she does not get overly cold.)

As a note, since commenting on his weight we made the nightly call to the NICU. He had a 60 gram gain so his weight is 4 pounds 3 ounces. I am wondering about car seats now.

You have just issued a summoning spell for that sort of thing to happen. Gee thanks. I will hold you and not her responsible. Just sayin'.

Thanks! I know that you are a friend on FaceBook. Do you really mean that you have not seen the plethora of pictures?

Believe it or not, I have been trying NOT to bore people to death with constant updates and pictures there or here. [:)]

soul2share -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/19/2011 7:25:49 AM)

awww, come now, Aylee...you KNOW she's gonna do it, it's just a matter of time!

She gets her smart ass gene from Mom, doncha know!  [:D]

yourdarkdesire -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/19/2011 7:47:10 AM)

Aylee - I want to see a picture of him in your arms - where he belongs!!!! My little girl thinks the facebook pics are adorable ... now she wants a baby in the house [:'(] lol

And there is no such thing as too much information when it comes to something like this. Remember when Holly took that trip down the stairs? We were all sitting around anxiously awaiting word of how she was doing ....................

Hugs

ShaharThorne -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/19/2011 8:07:26 AM)

I know EXACTLY how you feel about the excessive bewbage, Aylee.  I am 46DD now but I got a lot larger when I had Lizard.  I think Bo enjoyed that period of time until I wean her off of the breast.

DesFIP -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/19/2011 10:41:44 AM)

Over 4 pounds is awesome, Aylee. He'll be home soon where he belongs.

Since I am usually the one that takes the pictures, that may be hard to come by. Although the other half and I have to go up Thursday night (I spend half a day there in the morning) for a class on bringing preemies home, we might get a chance.

Well, the report for tonight is that he is still at four pounds and three ounces, but with a ten gram gain. he has taken several feedings from his bottle and has now been moved to an open crib. Open crib means that he is maintaining his body temperature on his own. Bottle feedings means that he is self feeding instead of using his tube. This morning during nursing I had to cut him off before he made himself sick with eating. He also had peed on three outfits since the day before. LOL He also has a picture of his sister, Butterhead, dressed in a 'squirrel feeding" outfit hanging up. They have been using some Desitin on him and giving him some Vitamin D.

I have been looking for the things to make him a Sock Monkey costume for Halloween as well. Since he is no longer orange, he can't be an Oompa Loompa.

Over all, he is still on track! YAY! [:)]

Oh, and we are looking into the need to buy a special car seat for babies under 5 pounds.

yourdarkdesire -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/19/2011 10:43:08 PM)

yeah for open cribs!!!!!! sends big hugs in your direction!!!!

Thanks!

So. . . funny story tonight. . . we had to do a bit of grocery shopping. Nothing major. The other half was sent downstairs to put some things away. He started an inventory.

Did I have ANY idea how much food we had in the downstairs pantry?

Well, yes, I had a general idea.

You see. . . I have spent the last few months knowing that I was going to have a baby and that cooking and grocery shopping were not going to be on my list of "fun things to do." Because of this, I had been setting aside and freezing dinners and buying extra shelf-stable goods. I wanted stuff available to cook once I was feeling more energetic.

The other half then spent time making an "inventory." He is now convinced that "Come the Revolution" we will survive. [8|]

Uh Aylee, MRE's are more stable, last for years, and more nutritious.

I was in the Army. I have had my share of MRE's.

I am confused on how you think that they are more nutritious that home-cooked meals. I actually cook fairly healthy food. Most of the time. Some food is of course not so healthy. LOL

MRE's are great if you are a six foot tall, 19 year old GUY. Five-two female, not so much. Too many calories.

jlf1961 -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/20/2011 11:35:06 AM)

Aylee, MRE's will put hair on Roscoe's chest.  Of course the nurses aren't feeding him the necessary pizza by the slice.

My son and daughter were both premies and by the time they were a couple of months old, they were gumming pizza and loved it.  Pizza is good for babies.

I KNEW IT!

I knew it was Roscoe making me crave pizza during the pregnancy!

yourdarkdesire -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/20/2011 3:16:13 PM)

Love the new pics on Facebook Aylee - Roscoe has some beautiful eyes!

Aylee -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/20/2011 7:54:08 PM)

They are dark gray eyes. Like an alien. And he LOVES his sucky. He is just adorable in his "Dumb Donald" hat as well.

We did get to see him after the Homeward Bound class, but the other half did not take any pictures. The room was dark and they frown on using flash. I did hold him because he heard me and started fussing. I got him settled down again and we chatted with his nurse a bit. his weight is up to four pounds and four ounces and they think that a 5 pound and up car seat should be fine instead of the four pound and up. YAY!

Not to mention the mold and botulism.  I never ate one of those nasty things......my ex's brother had a dog that would eat ANYTHING.....but when he was given the MRE meal, the dog turned his nose up at it and walked away.  That clinched it for me!  Even the racoons in the woods wouldn't eat the damn things!  Our unit got a bad batch once, every one of them were all moldy, and the main course meal packets were all bloated from bacterial poisoning.

Fortunately, every CO I had in the Guard and Reserves loved "Pogey Bait", so the Operations Section had REAL food in the field.....we had a small Hibachi griil, sterno cookers and coolers for our soda!  I don't know why it was called Pogey Bait, but it means real food, and of course, the requisite junk foods also.  I was the section cook, too!  We ate goooooooood!  [:)]
