soul2share -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/25/2011 8:35:44 PM)

I've gotta agree with the Boozy Bug....schedule?????  I think they are simply a figment of the imagination.....some cruel joke played upon us by The Powers That Be.......good luck with that, sweetie!  [:D]

Naw, mommy and little boy have got to get synchronized for feedings. At least we do if I am ever going to drop the milk supply that I am making.

Actually, when I was the one staying home with Butterhead, she was on a schedule. It really is not that difficult. Part of the issue of course is that I need to make sure that Roscoe is eating enough. Add in special vitamins and 2 fortified bottles a day and some sort of schedule must be kept just to keep it all straight.

My large lab (Fred) is very protective of my infants. This morning, Roscoe was laying next to me on the bed after his morning groceries while I pumped. Fred noticed that he was not in my arms nor in his bassinet. He went looking for him and got on the bed. After checking to make sure he was okay, I got a glare from him before he went to the foot of the bed to take high guard as Renny had low guard already.

That's our boys. *sigh*

It's been a while but I have a memory of babies not being able to put on a schedule until after they're up to 12 pounds. Good luck with that.

yourdarkdesire -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/26/2011 7:33:07 AM)

I haven't had dogs for a very long time - but when I had the kids, our girl cat Patches was very attentive. If I was laying down nursing, she would jump up on the bed and lay down on the other side of the baby so they wouldn't roll away

I don't think that they need to be almost a year old.

Yes, I realize that you are referring to normal babies.

In our case, Roscoe get woken up to eat whether he likes it or not.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/26/2011 9:00:22 AM)

I'm so glad that Roscoe is doing so well!! Such a handsome boy, and just generally YAY!!

I meant a sleep schedule. Since he's going to have to nurse every two hours for a while yet. You are going to need some sleep eventually though. Can you get some help at least with the household stuff?

The sleep schedule I am not worried about right now. It is the eating schedule. But he seems to be settling in very well and his appetite is back up to where is was.

I am getting sleep even though it is interrupted and some days a nap as well.

The other half has been a stay-at-home dad for a couple of years plus now. So he is here and I will be working from home for a bit. I was going to start some of the stuff this week, but with Roscoe coming home, that has been put on hold. I want this time together for the family to have an adjustment period. Monday will be soon enough. :-)

Oh. . . we put a bed in my office. So naps can be taken there as well.

I had also made up a bunch of meals and put them in the freezer while I was pregnant, so menu making and cooking has been easy to do.

So, overall, the household is running fine. We are all just adjusting a bit.

Awwww Thanks! But I have not done anything that impressive. I was just trying to reassure Celeste that yes there was help around the house.

Although, I have gotten rid of Roscoe's butt rash. YAY! Yes, yes, I am just that good.

Actually it is a combination of knowing which diaper cream to use, baths, and homemade baby wipes. Preemies have such delicate skin.

Hey Aylee, aren't Roscoe and Butterhead old enough for tattoos now?

LadyHibiscus -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/27/2011 12:04:05 PM)

I dunno, Jeff... OH, shoot!! NOW I see what you mean.

Sillyhead!

Oh HELL NO!

When they can pay for them and sign the consent form themselves, they can get such things. I will have NOTHING to do with such desecration of a body.

Okay. . . I don't get it.

Hey Aylee, did they microchip Roscoe when he was in the hospital, you know like what Pahunk is claiming?

I guess that I have not seen that thread.

No, they did not microchip him. He was given a band that has an alarm/sensor on it. If someone tries to take the baby out of the NICU doors (or the nursery for the full-term babies ~ different floor) an alarm is set off.

What happens is that a "Code Pink" is called and everyone stays in place while the nurses count the babies. (It is a lock down pretty much.)

This is standard operating procedure for Mother/Baby or Labor and Delivery areas of hospitals anymore.

The same thing was done with Butterhead.

When the baby is ready to be discharged, security is notified and the band is removed. The discharge nurse and one parent sign a form that this was witnessed. The discharge nurse then carries the baby to the hospital exit doors IN THEIR CAR SEAT. The baby is handed over once the car is brought to the front doors.

None of this involved placing a microchip in Roscoe. I suppose you could call the band a microchip, but it is not the same thing that is done to pets.

I referred to the bands as their "car alarm."

soul2share -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/27/2011 6:00:09 PM)

The hospital I worked at in Arizona had the same system...right down to calling a Code Pink....however, if theirs was like ours, we had false alarms all over the place, and no real alerts...which is a good thing! But it's amazing how many of those things go out the door in laundry bins, or nurse's pockets! But the system worked very well, once the baby got far enough to set off the alarm, the elevators and doors to the stairs would lock down, so there's no way to actually leave the floor.

Tho it's a real sad state of affairs when we have to do this to protect a baby.

jlf1961 -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/27/2011 6:31:41 PM)

Actually Aylee, he has made that claim in a couple of threads dealing with government control.  Various statements concerning RFID chips in people etc.  You know, the basic paranoid conspiracy stuff.

Speaking of Pahunk, I have not seen him posting lately, has he been modded or something?
