Do Holly or Potty even come here anymore? Anyone?[sm=cactus.gif]

Aylee -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (12/8/2011 5:23:28 PM)

Potty does not seem to and I am not sure if anyone has heard from Holly lately.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (12/8/2011 6:54:09 PM)

There has been a Recent Holly Sighting!! But no, not so much....[&o]

Aylee -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (12/8/2011 11:56:47 PM)

I made some Puppy Chow tonight. It was a Christmas treat request. What I don't know is why it is called "Puppy Chow." I have two dogs and it does not look like dog food.

I am also looking for recipes for non-refrigerator, healthy snacks. I am drawing a huge blank for ideas.

How long do they have to be out of the fridge for?

Home made cheese crackers. Home made crackers in general.
Mini muffins will last a couple of days.
Savory biscotti, http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/29/dining/29mini.html
Bagel chips
Trail Mix

That's all that come to mind immediately unless you want to dry your own fruit or make jerky which personally I wouldn't.

Thanks.

Granola bars also. Which I was going to make until I discovered someone ate all the dried cranberries.

I picked up 4 packets of dried fruit, 2 boxes of granola bars (Nature Valley ~ I think that they are healthy and I like them), and some "snack packs" of tuna. I would like to bake some things or cook them, I just do not know what.

While I love junk foods, Truck Stop snacks are leaving me miserable. I do not know/understand how people can live on it.

Is there room for a small car fridge that plugs into the cigarette lighter? http://www.amazon.com/Liter-Portable-Fridge-Cooler-Warmer/dp/B000O1TV28

If so, it could extend the kinds of food you could bring to include quiche, homemade wraps, crudites and so on. But apples and oranges and carrots and celery sticks should last three or four days. If you're staying in motels, then getting one of those little car fridges and get an adaptor to plug it into a wall socket would help raw fruits and veggies stay fresh longer by being kept chilled at night. Or if the motel provides a fridge and a microwave, that would be ideal. Most of them have a little coffee maker so you could add packets of oatmeal and cup o' soups with paper bowls and plastic spoons. Hell, you could make it in the morning and put it into a thermos to use later in the day.

Just run one pot of plain water through first to eliminate the coffee flavor.

We have the small electric cooler. However, it gets filled up rather quickly with breastmilk. We are considering the larger size.
