The other thing you might consider (assuming you haven't had it done yet) is the extent of your vas removal. I wanted to make absolutely certain that there was no chance of the tube finding each other and growing back together again. Believe it or not, cases of this actually happening are NOT all that rare. So, I elected to have almost a full 3/4 inch of the vas taken out, the ends cauterized, folded over, and tied off like you would a ship's mast... It cost an extra $200 to do it this way, but I wanted to be sure. The only side effect I've ever noticed: whenever I'm stuck on a plane with a couple of fussy, screaming kids, I find myself muttering, "Thank you, Doctor S-... Thank you for everything you've done for me." ...and make a note to send him a Christmas card.
