What do You do when she is menstruating? Does it change Your approach towards her at all?

It shouldn't be a problem. How do you treat a GF or Partner when she is mensturating? Certainly with the contraceptive implant, my Lady doesn't have this problem, but it never was an issue before either.

This isn't a problem with my current Sub since were both in our 50's. When my previous Sub was menstrating she had severe cramps and sometimes back pains. At times these were almost debilitating so yes, I did treat her differently then. She always felt this was a problem but I rarely did. I think it's wise to be reasonable and not demanding when things are happening to her body that she can't control. These episodes were rarely more than one day or possibly two. After that she was able to function and serve.

As far as sex was concerned, if that was your question, yes I did treat her differently during her menstration cycle, I used that 'period' of time to satisfy my oral and anal cravings more often. She didn't demand it and occasionally we still had vaginal sex, but I knew that hurt her stomach pretty bad and tended to shy away from it for a week or so.

No, not really. Physically it means that for a few days I use her mouth and ass more maybe but I am pretty anal oriented so that isn't much of a problem.

Minor aches / paines are not an issue - she does her job anyway. Hormonal / attitude problems are simply not tolerated, so she controls them.

I just wish Masters could experience this once. For many of us the achs and pains are not minor. The emotional mood swings are hard to control.

You know, I agree. I've had to take strong prescription meds for cramps (percoset, darvocet). Sex durring that time is just a no go... If I were sub, that would be a hard, unmovable limit...lol

You turn around in a circle, stand on one foot, chant "there's no place like home", and scream like a banshee. Then it should pass.

Seriously though, you treat her like a normal person because she's a normal person. You buy her some tampons, some midol, offer her a nice bath. My partner wouldn't have sex in bed with me when I got my period (I don't get it anymore), because it could get messy. So we would have sex on the bathroom floor with towels instead.

Not really. Part depends on them. If they have bad cramps or other problems, I try to make sure they are taken care of as needed. Years back as an undergraduate, I got called to a girls dorm once a month to work on the four young ladies in one suite. With massage and related treatment, could get all up but one, and her to lie flat which she had not been able to do in years. I take how bad it hits into account on many levels and adjust as required.

For me this his upon one of the fundamental fallacy of the lifestyle. My relationships are underpinned by power differentials, not primarily based on sex. However, to answer your question, it would depend on the degree of 'debilitation' during menstruation, on agreed understandings, and on my whim. Aside from the need to mindful, and perhaps administer minor palliative care, my usual love, respect and tenderness for her does not change..

Then I would suggest your Master is not particularly tender and sympathetic.

For those Masters who want to simulate the pain, I can reliably inform you that a good dose of Dengue Fever (aka breakbone fever) is said to be a reasonable approximate.

Of course some cultures used to isolate women during their menstural cycle in a women only camp (Some of you Anthropologista or Sociologists can probably come up with examples). This not a practice I agree with. As a Pagan I've learned that during this "Luna Cycle" women are at their most powerful. 'Nuff said - none realy want me to write a three page discourse on this matter which is outside the OP and probably outside CM confines anyway.

Yes. These practices are endemic in Melanesian, particularly amongst the tribes of the Papuan highlands. There are screeds of cultural relativist arguments about the merits of menstruation huts. One the one hand, some argue that it enshrines a omen's fertility and gives her an opportunity to learn sacred tribal knowledge about women/mother hood. One the other, some would argue that segregation and ostracism is a marker of their inferiority. From my reading (i.e the Samba and others) which is not extensive, there are elements of both that make sense to me. However, cultural attitudes to practices need to be made carefully. Fore example, if I was a senior in one of the Aboriginal tribes of Northern Australia, I could expect sub-incision as a rite de passage. I had an american colleague who spent some time amongst them and had this procedure (which is essentially a slit from the frenulum along the underside of the penis) but i'd be weary about judging it, except as you did, say "it is not for me"

On the other hand, I find the idea of women getting together and CELEBRATING their menstrual period together a very powerful and exciting experience. I grow so weary of women lamenting their periods, calling it curses, basically denigrating one of the things that makes us very much who we are and keeps us connected to the world we live in, connected to cycling through life.

How can we be powerful as women if we reject and hate and ignore and forget one of the most powerful natural aspects of who we are?

Granted, this is a voluntary grouping of power...a far cry from an involuntary shunning.

and a lot of the negativity (indeed much of it, including experiences of pain) is socially constructed...so I tend to agree from a theoretical perspective...

It is a little-known but documented fact that women who reside together will, in time, menstruate at the same time. My first off-campus housing was a big farm house with 14 girls, and by summer's end, we were all menstruating at the same time.

Most of us also had PMS, though i don't think the phrase was in use then, and the atmosphere in the house became virtually violent during the menstrual periods. i vividly remember one girl threatening bodily harm to another because she had allowed her hair brush to work it's way down between the seat cushions of the sofa -- the girl who was threatened had been looking everywhere for her hair brush, LOL.

It was quite an experience, and the guys we all dated seemed to have figured out what was happening and were conspicuiously absent for the period time, LOL.

It largely depends on the submissive and how she deals with it herself. I have no problem having sex with a woman on her period and on at least one occaision, I have been playing with a sub who got incredibly horny around that time. Mostly that is the exception though and I think its important for the Dom to understand what the sub goes through during mensuration and deal with it accordingly.
