I love long nails.  Not the fake ass square tip, excessively back filled 2 inch long acrylic nails, but I love executive length to full length oval shaped tips.  Gimme’ a girl with silk wraps and a real old fashion oval shaped French manicure please. 
 
 
Those square nails were sold off lock stock and barrel as fashion by those Asian nail parlor chains in SoCal.  The clients were so high fumes in those stuffy little shops they didn’t realize the shop was peddling an unfinished job as “fashion”.  The damn nails come square, you are supposed to shape them.  But if I owned a sweatshop nail parlor and had a chance to crank jobs out faster and humiliate my clients at the same time, being a sadist I would have done it too.  I don’t blame the shops.  I just blame the people intoxicated on fumes that bought that BS.

I was embarrassed when my girl came home with square nails one day.  I sent her back and told her to make whomever did that finish the fucking job by actually shaping the ends.  It made me feel she had a “blonde moment” and let someone outsmart her.

I have since learned to tolerate these glaring “silly Sally square tip” fashion errors and I try not to think less of the fools that fell for the great Asian fashion conspiracy of SoCal.  But when women start wearing unfinished seams on their clothes, unfinished hair cuts and half a make up job as fashion to match their unfinished square nails… you will all have to forgive me because I will that guy laughing out loud.  The fashion conspiracy will have just gone too far for me to keep my reaction contained.

As you may have guessed from my strong opinions, I once owned a shop called the Hair Hut and was a licensed cosmetologist.  It was one of the first businesses I ever owned and we (I) also did nails.  For those that weren’t in the fashion industry, I will tell you that “boardroom class” executive females keep their nail extensions at about one third the length of the body of the nail.  If you walked into a board room and saw some chic with 2 inch nails extensions with fuchsia and a pumpkin orange fade, she may not be taken seriously because the impression she makes would be that she was just some hooker role playing as an exec.  So the next time you pick a color, shape and length, think about the impression you make. 

Now I don’t want to hear some extremely dumbass answer like “I pick whatever color I like to please just me” because I just don’t want to be the one that has to tell you “ok loser… fuchsia with a pumpkin orange fade will go over real big in the office!.”  Women dress to impress, they do their nails to please others.  If you don’t you are losing out because other do.

I know most of you have looked down and see square tips.  To me, seeing those square tips is like someone selling a pile of unformed sheet metal as a finished car!  It’s just wrong.  It’s not my fashion opinion, it’s a fashion fact that square nails are just wrong.  It’s just shop owners cranking out unfinished work and conning you.  Don’t feel bad, they conned millions of girls before you came along.  You had no way to know. 

But look at your square tips with an objective eye.  I dare you to find fashion in that obscenity and I will prove it to you!  Look at all the contours of your body, look at all the contours of the animal kingdom… show me where there is one single square!  A square is alien to the human form and makes you look like some kind of mutant SquareBob sponge fingers.  Having the long graceful arches, curves and contours of your feminine hands and fingers end in a boxy square is just unnatural and a fashion obscenity.  Square nails feminine looking?  Ce qui?  I think not!

Having been poly, I had a ‘house’ manicurist (shop) and had the girl’s nails done regularly.  For those with shorter nails, I got them silk wraps (extensions) because they look and feel the most natural.  They are thinner than acrylics and tend to have a little flex.  It is a double edged sword though.  Because they are thinner, they break when an acrylic wouldn’t.  Because they seem to have just a little flex, they bend instead of breaking sometimes. 

The guy who owned that local nail shop by my old house noticed all my girls in there with property tags around their necks and proudly announced that he had 7 wives.  He said that where he came from they were allowed to have up to 10 wives.  He was charming and it began a 6 year tradition of his shop servicing my house and the girls in it.

I hate and Loathe the square tips. I make those bitches work damn it. File it to an oval... and I get the UV gels... not as fragile as silk wraps.. and not as fake feeling as acrilics.

You are 110% correct about nails in the office.

Some tart suantered into my old usual nail spot and got the nail job you had mentioned.. neon colors.. huge freaking nails... she was going on a job interveiw the next day.. and was bragging about it... I asked her where at? The strip club.. because with those nails thats the only job you are going to get. Snotty of me yes... but damn folks.. *think*

Status: offline 		I confess, when I first got acrylics, I took the square tips  they recommended at the salon.  Two problems with that.  One i have kind of large hands and the square tips make them look like "man hands".  Two, I kept poking myself  in the eye and other tender places with the corners.  Most unpleasant all around.  Next time I told them I wanted ovals, and after a lecture about how unfashionable they were, I insisted.  Love the ovals, never looked back.

However, when I whipped by the computer and hit CM forums, I noticed yet another thread about fingernails.  That’s the 3rd one in a week.   I dropped into the thread and soon found myself posting fashion advice in the short nails thread… hold it, wait a minute, stop the train… nobody move!  Let me get this; I do washing, I do cleaning, I fold clothes, I exercised like a little bitch on treadmill because it is so hot out I don’t want to jog outside…  and now I am posting fashion advice on women’s nails?  JUST SHOOT ME NOW because I would make a good wife!  Being my own bitch has obviously gone to my head.  Is this what happens when you live alone for 8 weeks?  You become your own bitch.  How in the world am I ever supposed to make it to the 12th week like this?  I just wanted a 90 day rest from relationships to enjoy sometime with myself.  Now somehow it seems I’ve not only been given a role change but someone slipped in a sex change too.  Checks self for humble parts… thank god the package is intact!
 
If you end up posting fashion advice for women, you just might be your own bitch.

I'm sorry but as a slave bitch you are sorely lacking. I did three loads of laundry today; (the bedclothes, the towels, and some misc. clothes). Remade the bed, emptied the dishwasher, fed the kids breakfast, fed the cats, vacuumed, fed the kids lunch, helped Honey Master redo the trim under our deck (four hours in the sun), got popsicles for the kids and koolaid, got a drink for HM, checked my Ebay auction, helped HM wash the dog, gave medicine to all the animals, helped prepare dinner, cleaned the dining room and the kitchen, got snacks for the kids and for HM, put His clothes away so they wouldn't wrinkle, AND posted advice on the forums.
And *I* am supposed to be a "pleasure slave"

I was lazy today and ordered pizza for dinner. But yes, I know how to cook , do laundry, wash windows, cut the lawn, basic sewing, bargain shop, yanno all the basic stuff I learned years ago!

edited to add: yes I know how to do dishes, by machine and by hand! My nails are short and clean and do not chew them either.

Status: offline 		I had my nails done ONCE.. the day before I got married, at age 19.  I'll never do it again.  My nails are thin, break/chip/peel easily.. the fake nails did not help.  I'm doomed to short nails and I'm ok with that.  Besides, with the NPS, I cant get the thumbs or index fingers done.. which looks WORSE than not having them done at all.

thank you for the education on proper nails, i always do a french manicure, but i thought square ends was a characterisic of a french. i will not be able to have them square ever again...hmmmm

Status: offline 		I too, have always hated square nails, and I've always refused them.  Once after a manicure they were not "round enough" and were getting caught between the keys on my keyboard. I went back and made them fix them.

Now they're trying to push me into getting color on the tips only, saying "it will last longer" (think french manicure with clear as the base and red on the tips).  I always decline.  One pushy broad wouldn't shut up about it until I told her that I personally think it looks strange and like I'm too lazy to get a real manicure. There was an annoying chick in the next chair doing the "cell yell" thing and generally being obnoxious.  At the point that she stopped to take a breath I managed to say, "the only thing even more strange would be to get two inch long daggers on my nails with bright orange polish"... and that happened to be what she was getting done at that very moment.
