I went in for my yearly gyno checkup a month ago and all was well. I had a hysterectomy 17 months ago, but kept my ovaries. Late last week, I started feeling...... well blah. It felt like old menstrual cramps, gas cramps, ovulation - all rolled up into one. I kept trying to explain it away, but it got worse and the pain moved to my lower back as well. I got an appointment with my OB/GYN on Wednesday and he felt a hard mass in the area where my uterus used to be, so we did an ultrasound and there was big black blob on the screen. He said it was 10cms in size - which is like the size of a baby's head and was sitting just above the top of my vagina. He couldn't even see my ovaries at all. He wanted to do surgery the next day, but it couldn't get scheduled that fast. Available operating rooms, assisting surgeons, etc... it couldn't happen until this Tuesday at noon. I'll be in the hospital for a couple of days. In the meantime, I'm on pain meds and progesterone pills to hopefully shrink my ovaries, and I have to stay off my feet. Obviously, he can't know for certain what it is till he goes in, but strongly suspects an ovarian cyst. So my question is, have any of you ladies dealt with these before? I've never been pregnant before, but it feels like I'm carrying a little alien baby down there especially if I stand up for too long. p.s. I'm amazed at how quickly this thing developed!
