Well if I drive a BMW and Call it a Mercedes people are going to start giving me strange looks.

There's no "quality/better" difference more like "Ford/Chevy" - just not identical and maybe there's a personal preference ??

Of course you retain the right to leave this isn't the old south. The whole idea of complete surrender wouldn't even be a valid concept without that right to leave in place. Surrender and force are not compatible, so the door is always open.

you young lady you are completely missing the point of this post all together along with others. First and foremost no where in this post did I proclaim i am a true Dom. The point to a basic premise is to create some kind of constuct in which to build something from. That is the whole point of having definitions like D/s and M/s, if not then why not just call Masters and Doms Tops and slaves and subs bottoms and be done with it? There is a difference between all 6 and how each person defines those things may be different within reason but no one is going to call a tomato a apple or a banana a cherry.

O dear, pulling out the 'Young Lady' age card. (So sorry... have been watching too many politicians babble on about their cards lately)

You mentioned that 'Everyone does things different' Why does that apply to dominants, but somehow not submissives? Or slaves.. bottoms... whatever the hell I am, I kind of pick and choose what I want to do hourly. It's probably a product of me being young and immature... not knowing what I want from life and all that. *Sigh*

I know Masters who wish to be called slaves, and vice versa.

Example: I dont think submission is a Kink quality. You can be submissive and not be spanked or punished or Anything be totally vanilla. Just like you can have kink with out being submissive.

Some believe you are either fully vanilla (not submissive) or D/s

Some believe all of one gender are submissive and all of another are Dominant.

Some believe the Sky is purple and the grass is pink...

As long as you have free thinking people, they will all have their own explination of what it is they are and seek and expect. If you dont think them a slave, simply move on, find someone else. The best way to piss people off is tell them what they are isnt what they are.

Again I will ask the same question that no one is seems to catch why even bother with any defintions? M/s, D/s, T/b are all basic defintions, basic frameworks within to work. After the basic framework is in place then by all means build the relationships as anyone sees fit but why argue about basic fundamental defintions? That is like telling someone who plays football that they are a basketball player.

my VW is really a M-B.

people go to D/s parties with a collar in their pocket and put it on someone for a bdsm sex session and call it master/slave.

philosopher has a good point. it comes down to, are you a slave if you have no master. and also, how can you dominate, if you havent got a sub.

to me, slaves are owned property of a master. there are slaves who are subs looking for a master, or even i will go as far to say there are subs wo dont even know that they are slave material.

a sub is a person who is submissive by nature. does that make you a slave? some may like to think so, some may think it has an edge of glamour that comes with it.

i have played with many subs, who would not make a good slave, not for me or anyone else.subs who like to top from bottom etc.

how many definitions can there be for one word?

You keep skirting our questions.

I give up, it's hard to debate with someone who isn't going to answer questions tossed at them.

As far as definitions, to me no one is going to be horribly confused if a female with tendencies to submit to someone introduces herself as a slave... or as a submissive. The definitions are close enough to where it isn't like demanding that a trashcan is REALLY a giraffe.

Is there a basic definition? Sure, but people will disagree on what exactly that is. If you feel up to the task of finding the EXACT definition, and then forcing everyone to conform to it, I wish you luck, but it's been tried before.

there's your answer. when speaking of a dom/top/master/sub/slave/bottom...most people have a BASIC idea of what is meant.
The people within the dynamic will refine their definitions for themselves... you don'thave to agree with how others define themselves..but if someone says "this is my slave", and you don't believe the 'slave' meets YOUR criteria for slave... tough shit.

The main difference I see is a relationship that involves work and doing productive things together in a vanilla way-but organized around an authority dynamic. It can have fetish overtones, or not.

M/s "role playing" is where the authority dynamic only exists in the bedroom/fetish moments. And pretty much ends at that door.

my slaves are owned property, and are here to stay, and be used to my needs: lifestyle

the subs used for sex go home, and carry on with whatever they do in their life when the sex is over: role play
