Oh I agree with you. I am just a firm believer that abortion, like murder, is a state issue, not federal.

I have strong views on what our federal money and energies need to be focused on. It makes no sense to me that if a woman murders her 2 day old child, how she is tried and sentenced, is determined by the state. Yet an abortion is a federal issue? Same act, different age child.

I am also pro gay marriage, yet I also believe that it is a state, not a federal, issue.

Nothing.

The president cant overturn Supreme Court decisions. The make-up of the court would have to be changed and a lawsuit would have to challange Roe vs Wade.

Now the president can change the make-up of the court. But only after a current judge resigns, impeached, or dies. And the selection would have to be approved by the Senate. So it's not like they get into office and decree all abortions illegal. It doesnt work that way. That's why abortion really should be a fringe issue for presidential politics because the president cant really directly challange what the Supreme Court has ruled. That goes against the check and balances of the constitution.

Actually, this is completely inaccurate. While a supreme court decision requires a new case that reverses the decision, there is a lot that can be done within the Executive and Legislative branches to offset Roe v. Wade. For starters, a Constitutional Amendment that declares that the definition of "life" begins at conception, and following through to an Executive Order allowing individual medical practitioners, etc., to refuse to provide birth control without risking malpractice actions for their decisions.

Fair enough - I would hate to see my rights taken away from me though. To answer your other points, she is speeching right now introducing her family, and describing her experience as hockey mum and president of the PTA. Now, there's nothing wrong with this, but that's all she has, together with 'fighting corruption' in the state of Alaska. She sounds great as a governor. A president though? Definitely not. Not yet anyway.

Again....she has more executive experience than Obama does. Her approval rating in Alaska is 80% as a governor.

If you want experience....flip the Democrat ticket and have Biden on the top and that would make sense. Obama/Biden is not going to change much in Washington. They are both big Washington insiders. They are both from the Senate which has an approval rating of 9% a few months ago.

But it is what it is. Both tickets are set. So let the games begin.

Almost exactly the experience level of Barack Obama...

Except she's got executive experience, too.

Palin is being pimped to the disillusioned Clinton voters. It's not very good for her career, because she is being used brazenly by her own party. God knows I love that women are more and more into politics, whatever side of the equation they're from: but she made a strategic mistake accepting this offer.

I like the Old man/hot chick photos.

They`re hawt.

There`s no doubt that she`ll have to look like a heavy weight, being that there`s a good chance she`ll actually have to run the country.

Compared to Biden???

emmmm ,not so heavy weighty.

More, the left is attacking her because she's a woman. "What possible qualifications could she have?"

So pathetic it's laughable.

Edited to add, "pimped"???

So she's a whore now.

Mmm hmmm. Gotcha...

*Fast reply*

The funniest part of all of this is that the Obama campaign is now making issues of her experience and asking folks to ignore his deficiancies in that very area.  Brilliant.  Even if you accept the argument that she has no experience, how does that bolster a first term Senator and his lack of foreign policy experience?  What has Obama accomplished again?  I remember him mentioning arguing for ethics reform, what he didn't want mentioned was that the bill he "reached across the aisle for" was written by McCain.

I am glad that the Dems are starting to salivate and thinking about the debates between Biden and Palin, it will be another example of underestimating their opponent.

Nice assumption: I questioning her qualifications because I've been reading about them. Or trying to. Or the lack of them. Not because she's a woman.

Well, the selection of Palin does seem to suggest that the GOP doesn't count experience nearly as highly as they seemed to yesterday.

Her qualification level is very similar, very comperable to Obama's but, because she's a woman, she's being "pimped" or she's otherwise obviously unqualified for the VP slot.

She isn't the top of the ticket.  Or should we reverse that and say that Obama picking a man that has been a Senator for over 30 years is not really a sign of change?

Know what I mean?

Yeah!

Like,... what if there`s a crisis man,and like it`s "that time of the month"for the POTUS?

What,are we going to re-schedule our nation`s business,12 times a year?

Not good.

And the ruskies could time it and attack during the "out of control/incoherent" moments.

Is anyone troubled that the Republican nominee chose as his running-mate someone who is under investigation for abuse of power charges.Seems her ex brother-in-law was fired as a State Trooper shortly after a nasty divorce from the Gov's sister.
Is this the sort of move to induce anyone to believe that a McCain administration would conduct itself any different than the Bush administration.Seems abuse of power is not a real issue to this Candidate, after a vetting they go right ahead and put this woman out there as the person to be "a heart beat" away from the Oval Office..
How can they be this arrogant
