The funniest part of all of this is that the Obama campaign is now making issues of her experience and asking folks to ignore his deficiancies in that very area.  Brilliant.

And why should the Democrats hold the high ground when it comes to campaign morals? The Republicans hold the record for low blows: perhaps the Dems have finally realised that they need to play dirty as well. It's funny to hear the right whine about the unfairness of it all now that they're the target of what they usually dish out to others

So a woman accepts a VP offer and that equates to her being "pimped?" I wonder what feminists would think of that.

I'll tell you what a feminist thinks about it: He's right. She's allowing herself to be used for political purposes in exchange for money and prestige. As far as politics go, that is being pimped. You can say they're just "playing politics" or that it's a calculated "chess game", and you'd be correct, but that doesn't make it anymore legitimate from a moral or ethical standpoint.

I will no longer respect any women who vote republican due to this pick.

Feminists are funny. They only support women who agree with the pack. So much for the thought of a woman thinking for herself.

How do you feel about Black people only voting Democratic because of the top of that ticket?
You're kidding with this post...aren't you?If not please let me know the last time Republicans could count on the Black community for a voting majority. Or the last time the Black community could look to the Republican Party for effective advocacy. The Republican Party that fashioned a "Southern Strategy" and used "states-rights advocacy"as code for racism...please tell me your kidding...

Owner,

Okay - I'll ask; what is the "plan and direction" from Senator Obama? From the convention in general and his speech in particular I garnered this; if you've succeeded I'm going to tax you more and put more barriers upon any business you own. If you've failed, elect me and I'll make sure that the government takes care of you.

Convert me.

Feminists support people that do the right thing for equality. The fact that you limited your comment to women shows that you're completely missing the point here. If she was not a female, she would not have been chosen, and that isn't equality. That's called sexism and feminists don't like it. She may be "thinking for herself" but saying 2+2 = 5 is also thinking for yourself, in addition to just being wrong.

I'll repeat what I said in the VP thread...

I love the fact that she is a common person. A union member married to a union member. A reformist Governor who told Congress to keeps its money and put a halt to "The Bridge to Nowhere". A daughter of elementary school teachers, a student athlete who excelled at both. A woman who fought city hall from the inside to stop high property taxes and ran on that issue to be elected to the city council and then Mayor. A wife and Mother of five who chose to give birth to a child with Downs Syndrome.

I would love to see the Prediency returned the people and its about time when have a blue collar wife of a comerical fisherman as President

If wasn't a commentary addressed to either party it was regarding the voters. There has been nearly unanimous approval of a Black person voting for Senator Obama only because of his race. Why is the reasoning now discounted, or wrong' in the case of Governor Palin?

I was making a voter comparison, not a political party; which would seem to me a thread hijack.

Why not convert yourself?  This information is easily available right here online.  Look up his platform, look up his campaign's position papers.  Jesus!!   How do you sit here and argue things you seem to admit not knowing anything about?

Reading impaired? I drew a conclusion from the speech from Olympus and the Convention, did you watch either. I came to the conclusion sighted. I asked Owner, or you for that matter, to point out the errors. Obviously you can't do so.

However, in the meantime...

I'm not an alleged god - no need to call me "Jesus!"

Was she chosen because she was female or because she has the capacity to draw women voters to the McCain campaign?

I personally didn't expect anything less than something to steal Sen. Obama's thunder just hours after he delivered his "historic" speech. Governors Pawlenty, Romney, Ridge and Senator Lieberman all would have been "boring" choices.

A lot of people are quick to point to her short stay in public life as "inexperience" but since taking public office in 1992, she has stood the moral high ground. Granted, Alaskan Politics is much different from the politics from the rest of the United States, it is still an interesting choice to see what will really happen. Along with McCain's deteriorating health, the 44-year old Gov. Palin has a real shot at the Presidency. The main question we all have to ask is, are we ready for someone else to be in the pocket of Big Oil? (Her husband works for British Petroleum).

Oh, and she has been featured on the cover of Vogue. All I have to say, McCain appears to be back in the race, unless the Dems or someone leaks some skeletons in someone's closet.

Or the public might see through McCain's hypocrisy. "Obama is too young, too inexperienced... but let's find someone younger, and less experienced to be my VP"

Merc the fact remains blacks in large part vote Democratic anyway, they have a much larger voice in the Democrati Party while being, for the most part, largely ignored and disdained by the GOP..so blacks voting in large numbers for a minority candidate is not strictly speaking a straigh vote along color lines. And is in no way as odious as Whites voting against Obama simply because he's black...
