That's kind of a subjective thing. Most of them actually but as we are a country with an historic citzen Armed Forces some only served for a brief time. Lyndon Johnson somehow fanagled a commission as 2nd LT in WWII but is was all a show pony rank. Franklin Pierce on the other hand, was commissioned a Bigader in the Mexican War.

Of those 15 only 3 could be what is called a Career Officer, Jackson and Harrisson were careere Generals and Truman made Colonel in the National Guard.

Okay, the biggest joke of the hour, comparing Biden with Palin... by comparing their populations. that's like saying China is 4 times better than the U.S. because they're 4 times bigger. These arguments are crazy, and are obviously a last ditch effort at distraction from REAL ISSUES, that is the Republican's only LAST GREAT HOPE.

The McCain Train just officially ran off the tracks today... (if it were ever on it).

Alaska is 10x harder to to run (which Palin actually does) than Delaware is.

Biden has never run the state of Delaware a day in his life.

Minnesota had an ex-pro-wrestler, and California's got a Steroid-Burnt-Out-Ex-Actor....

And didn't Dumya supposedly run Texas for a while?

Being a big deal isn't what defines an executive position. A general or an admiral is an executive in the armed forces. The guy has no executive experience, and if he does we're just stretching the definition of the word, in which case I guess since Obama was the president of the Harvard Law Review, he's had plenty of executive experience too, you know, "making decisions" and everything.

Sophia, if you're a U.S. Citizen and what,....35 or is it 40 years old you're "qualified" to be President.

But also... While he did command one of the greatest Combat forces the world has ever known, Eisenhower never actually saw combat action and nor did he ever commanded troops on the field

This is crazy, people are so full of bias it's just retarded.

First off, obama has no real experience, just admit it.
Second off, mccain has not ever been an impressive leader outside of the military(take his word on it).
Biden, is equivalent to mccain.
Palin, is near equivalent to obama, in terms of experience.

You guys have the same ticket either fucking way you got.

Democrats:
Add 1 disempowered group getting some push because of that "change" factor.
Add 1 washington insider to counter experience issues.

Republicans:
Add 1 washington insider.
Add 1 disempowered group to counter perceived "change" factor.

It's the same ticket, except for the most subtle difference, in terms of experience and newbies. It's the same fucking ticket in terms of "breaking the glass ceiling" factor.

I find it all quite fascinating, that perception is skewed so much depending upon which group you identify with, reality seems to do little with it.

Anyway, if Palin is being used for her femal status, then biden is being used for his old white dude status. The truth is everyone running is trying to use each other, and will select based on all possible advantages. If obama had chosen a woman, or another minority group to run with him, then it'd have been perceived as to radical to fast. So, it was inevitable that you'd select an old white dude for him to smooth it out. Same with McCain, he is looked at as part of the establishment, so in order to change that perception he needed to select someone that shares his views, but would still be seen as a change. So, if he'd have selected an old white dude, he'd have lost any chance of getting the "change" vote, and been viewed as to stuck in the past. And he couldn't select a black man either, because then it'd be perceived that he was just hunting for an uncle tom to counter the obama effect. The best and most productive choice was only a white woman.

But this insane notion that both VP's were selected purely by qualifications, is retarded. They are selected by qualifications, drawing in biased voters, alleving fear factors, etc... You know the idiotic factors that most people vote on.

Ah where do I jump back into the fray?

To those wondering about how she is going to be on the national stage, or hold up under fire, this is the lady that took on Sen Stevens and the bridge to nowhere... and won.

Dealing with foreign leaders? Do Russia and Canada count?
On the experience issue I noticed that Obama has backed off questioning her credentials, and even reprimanded those that were "trigger happy" in his campaign. I think he realized any questioning of her experience is just a boomerang back at him. What has he done again? As Hillary put it, "besides giving a speech".

Does anybody remember a certain inexperienced vp pick from '56, he was outvoted in the second ballot after the shifts, he went on to become President just 4 years later...

Anyways, the pick of Palin while it may seem to be just a crass pick, a shot at drawing female voters, I would suggest taking a look at what she did for electrifying the party. She is going to be a spark to light a fire under the base, and I would guess probably grab some of those undecideds. Remember not all of Hillary supporters were liberals or Dems, many were indies that were excited by having a woman to vote for. I suppose some folks that are stating she is being used would have said the same thing if JC Watts or Michael Steele or Kay Bailey Hutchinson were selected. Sounds like sour grapes to me.
