So a woman accepts a VP offer and that equates to her being "pimped?" I wonder what feminists would think of that.

I'll tell you what a feminist thinks about it: He's right. She's allowing herself to be used for political purposes in exchange for money and prestige. As far as politics go, that is being pimped. You can say they're just "playing politics" or that it's a calculated "chess game", and you'd be correct, but that doesn't make it anymore legitimate from a moral or ethical standpoint.

I will no longer respect any women who vote republican due to this pick.

do you feel the same way about the women who only voted for HC because she was a women?

Of course I do. Sexism is sexism. Making a decision based on gender when gender shouldn't be a factor is idiotic, regardless of what political party is involved.

If a senator is such a poor choice for President, why did the GOP nominate one?

Historically, Senators dont win presidential elections. One will this time, obviously. But if you look over presidential elections in the history of this country....only a handful of senators have won while tons of governors and businessmen have won.

The reason has to do with leadership. There is a difference in the type of office. The president is an executive. He's a leader. He forms policy and executes the law. A Senator is more often than not a lawyer that writes complicated 1,000 page laws. And many times this contrast to obvious when you pair up a governor against a senator. That's why Bush won in 2004. The Democrats would have fared better I think against Bush had they nominated a governor rather than Kerry.

Fifteen Senators of forty-three Presidents.  That's 34%, slighly more than a handful.  Those fifteen inlude Andrew Jackson, Harry Truman, and JFK, three Presidents who are generally considered among the top ten by most historians.

Again....she has more executive experience than Obama does. Her approval rating in Alaska is 80% as a governor.

If you want experience....flip the Democrat ticket and have Biden on the top and that would make sense. Obama/Biden is not going to change much in Washington. They are both big Washington insiders. They are both from the Senate which has an approval rating of 9% a few months ago.

But it is what it is. Both tickets are set. So let the games begin.

Again.....as others have asked, how do you see it benefits your candidate, who is a Senator, to point out the flaws of being a Senator as a candidate for President?

Nine times in U.S. history (eight deaths and one resignation), the Vice President has become President. It's not beyond the realm of the possible for Sarah Palin to inherit the top job.

Would she be qualified for it?

A great many in the media are dismissing her as "inexperienced."

However, this is a woman who first won elective office in 1992, FOUR YEARS before Obama first ran for office.

She was a mayor before she was governor. She was relected mayor. She was elected President of the Alaskan conference of Mayors. Seems to me her colleagues in Alaska as well as her constituents liked how she did the job.

She used her veto power to trim $231 Million from the state buget.

She enjoys a 90% approval rating as Alaskan Governor.

She has executive experience, something Obama and Biden lack completely.

In addition to having more executive experience than Obama, she also has more executive experience than McCain, so the point is kind of a wash. It seems like  many Republicans are really just searching for an excuse for having chosen her at this point. The intial reaction was that it was genius, but now it seems like even the most stupid of quasi-feminist soccer moms are seeing through this charade. I feel like the republicans have set women back 20 years with this choice of VP.

She won her bid for Mayor in a city of 5500 people. How will that translate to 305 Million Americans? Time will tell. I'm not saying she's "inexperienced" since she's younger than Obama and has been involved in politics longer. But there's something to be said that a Police Officer in Chicago, Illinois might have a bit more "experience" than a Police Officer in Wasilla, Alaska.

(I mean, Chicago was Gotham City!!) Haha

Almost exactly the experience level of Barack Obama...

Except she's got executive experience, too.

This "executive experience" must be the new Fox News talking point buzzword since I've seen it on so many posts today.  Wouldn't a Senator, who represents his state on a national level have at least as much executive experience as a Governor?

McCain was a Naval Officer for 20 years. He commanded one squadron to its first-ever unit citation. He's not wanting for executive experience.

Say what anyone wants, 48% of 684,000 people voted for Gov. Palin. 40% voted for the Democratic candidate.

The city of Chicago has more people living in it than Alaska, let alone the state of Illinois.

Just food for thought, I suppose.

No.

Senators do not implement policy. "Executive experience" is about not just crafting but implementing policy and executing plans.

Executive experience is what business execs bring to the table. It is what governors and mayors bring to the table. It is what military officers bring to the table.

Legislative experience is different from executive experience. McCain and Palin have executive experience. Obama and Biden do not. Both halves of each ticket have legislative experience

As Thadius pointed out in another thread, the Obama/Biden ticket appears to be the first presidential ticket in history with absolutely no executive experience of any kind.

With the way the Executive branch has been running the country these last couple of decades, perhaps it's time for a "change"... someone new perhaps?

Captain isn't an executive rank. Being imporant in the Navy does not make you an executive.  I don't expect to hear any Republican brass to be throwing around her "executive experience" since it would be counter-productive to the McCain cause.

Although Alaska is a lovely state....THERE ISN"T ANYONE IN IT!.... The county I live in is bigger by 150,000 people and I don't think that qualifies our County Exec to be anywhere near the office of V.P. or President. The organization Obama built the drive and hardwork he has displayed took more executive experience than governing the least populous state in our union. We have had a number of great Presidents, Governors etc. that came with little "Executive experience" some people have often expressed a desire for a President that came from anywhere but! No matter, in 4 months wether it is Obama or McCain ....It isn't George"I have no clue""although I DO have "executive experience" Bush!....Thank the Lord Almighty! whoever She or He might be! I do hope it is Obama personally just to torture Shawn Hannity, Rush Limbough and our own version of them both....Celtic Lord...although it is unfair to compare you CL...sometimes I actually agree with You!and love to read what you have to say.
