I live in Australia thus my spell check is set to either Australian English or British English (dependent which spell checker I'm using. Simple folks and it goes like this.

Aussies speak Australian

Kiwis speak New Zealand

Canadians speak Canadian

British folk speak English

US folk speak American

All is a form of English most with differences in spelling the load stone of the language is the Queens English used in the UK.

In New Zealand, some of the fruit speaks? And its speaks English? Here in the US none of our plant material is vocal. How amazing, LOL.

yep and so do their sheep ~VWEG & Chortle~ I have to remember to get ones that speak when I send the blow up sheep to Kiwi mates... [;)]

I DO understand these differences Sir. When looking at a profile I check the location of the person first. Also, even though I only lived in the UK for 3 shirt years I still tend to use the British spelling of 'cheque' and some other words and when at the bank to deposit that 'cheque' I stand in a 'queue'.

I probably should not have used the word 'realized' in my example of misspellings. The other words I listed are just misspellings or typos.

Oh, not so not so. I just had a lengthy discussion regarding the nature of the universe with two parsnips and a brussels sprout.

Parsnips and Brussels Sprouts ehh, That would have been interesting. Personally I enjoy conversions with carrots and cabbages and the occasional turnip when I was to discuss earthy matters but for the more esoteric discussions I’ve found that Melons, Grapes and Citrus fruit are most knowledgeable….

Simply not true. You must give up your rights to your image before a photographer owns them. A photographer is just a hired hand.
Where do you get your legal advice?

Nah - perhaps not. :)

Correct Sir. Releases and generally a contract stipulating why the release was given. Imagine the way these must be collected for those "Girls Gone Wild" videos, he he.

swtnsparkling -> RE: Dominant and Master Profiles (11/28/2005 3:05:16 PM)

I manage and run a Photo Lab and every year i have to resign the copyright policy law form and keep it on file.
The Photographer is the legal owner of photo for the life of it and even after his death.
You can reproduce the picture only if given a written release/permission to do so from the Photographer.

To Everyone: i am inundated with requests to proofread and edit Dominant and Master profiles. i am not accepting any more requests...others here might.

There was some pretty good advice on this thread as to what makes a good profile...can't You Guys use Your thinking caps and revise Your own profiles?

ExistentialSteel -> RE: Dominant and Master Profiles (11/28/2005 3:17:21 PM)

Swtnsparkling, is it possible that you are misunderstanding the law? I can see how what you say would be possible for photos taken of things deemed to be artistic or something, but if you pay someone to take your picture, it seems that the pic would be yours. Maybe I am wrong, but, as others have said, what you are saying doesn't seem right. I'll try to research it more. Thanks, for your insight as a manager of a photo lab, in any case.

i rarely initiate contact with Men, but this morning i went through my Admirer's List and sent a few emails. i realised so many Men make similar mistakes i thought i post a few pointers.

First: if You select a dark background You must select a very light font -- preferably white -- or the contrast between type and background is so poor, Your profile is unreadable to me...and probably others.

Second: For God's sake write a profile. If You are really stumped, ask a submissive or slave friend to help You. A good profile describes the Man's values; what sort of relationship He seeks; amd what sort of woman He seeks. This is not brain surgery.

Third: post a picture of Your face...or at least offer to send one. The vast majority of Men seem to fail to post a picture; They cannot all be afraid of being outted. And egads; do not say You seek a refined woman and then post a picture of Your genitals or even Your body.

From what i have seen, women generally have pictures, whether they are Dommes or subbies or slaves. Why invite the loss of time and energy involved if the woman ultimately gets to see You and is not attracted? And where is the Domly confidence that You are attractive to women?

Fourth: For Gawd's sake proofread Your profile or have someone else do it. One mistake is just a distraction -- several call into question any claim You have to being educated or having a professional position. i overlook mistakes in posts and email because such things may sometimes be dashed off; but a profile should not be...it should accurately reflect You and what You want.

i am happy to help; if You think it necessary, feel free to email me on the other side. i bet most women (and some Men) here would be willing to help as well; choose someone whose posts are generally written in proper English and ask her/him.

The bottom line is although it is the Dom or Master who generally initiates contact, the subby or slave will probably read Your profile before responding. If it says nothing at all; or just says "slave wanted" You might lose out.

i find those blank profiles rather annoying as well pink.

I find that hard to believe. Plus, even if it were true, Wal Mart or whatever is not about to run down everyone who copies or posts their own pics.

Any picture you take of yourself on vacation sitting at home what ever, you are the owner of. Any picture you hired a professional photographer to take, They are the owners.

The law says the "author" is the owner of the copyright. The author of a photo or image is usually the person who snapped the shutter or created the image. If you took the photo, you own the copyright. If a professional photographer took the photo for you, then he or she owns the copyright. If that photographer is an employee of a studio or other person in the business of making photos, then his or her employer is considered the author.

If You take a professional picture to Walmart and they make copies of it for you with out the consent of the photographer they can be sued by the photographer. It's already happened and this is why there is such a big deal about photo copyrights Law now.
Go to any Photo Lab, Walmart, CVS, Walgreens and check ask for the copyright brochure. I wouldn't say this if it wasn't true.

i like you -- i think you're dead wrong -- but let's wait to get the Mods' opinion. In the end all that matters is what are people permitted to post here. No reason to duke it out over something that is out of our hands anyway.

justheather -> RE: Dominant and Master Profiles (11/28/2005 4:01:10 PM)

I have made copies of pictures in those machines they have at places like Target, etc. and they will not even allow you to copy one of those strips of pictures you can have taken in a booth at the beach...you know the black and white ones where you make faces and pretend you are having more fun than the people in the Mentos commercial...and I know that they will not allow you to copy any professionally taken photograph without a signed release....even going way back to my childhood portraits. Sooooooooooo maybe it's just strange enough to be true.

obis -> RE: Dominant and Master Profiles (11/28/2005 4:03:36 PM)

Just to clarify, there are multiple aspects to the question of rights in a photograph.

The copyright to the image itself is owned by the photographer, or his employer.

But the likeness rights of the subject in a photograph belong to the subject, so a photographer can't sell photos of you without your permission (unless it is newsworthy and thus covered under the first amendment -- public figures are "newsworthy", hence paparazzi selling embarrassing pictures of celebrities and politicians while you could sue for the same photos). That's why you sign model releases when photographed professionally.

I am a professional artist (and photographer) and deal with all this constantly. The IRS decides legally who is an employee and who is not, so those of us who do contract work have to be very careful to not accidentally become "employees" and thus have work owned by a client.

ExistentialSteel -> RE: Dominant and Master Profiles (11/28/2005 4:10:33 PM)

Actually, I have found out Swtnsparkling is exactly right. The only way around it is to have pics made with a statement by the photographer that the work is "done for hire" before he takes them. I am totally surprised and shocked by this. Apologies, Swt. Here is a link that discusses this. http://www.woodworking-online.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=18394

Will you be proofing for spelling also? I suggest that you pay special attention to the following words:
Realise = realize (if using US spelling)
Demondstrate = demonstrate
Amoung = among
accomodated = Accommodated
baords = boards
ignornance = ignorance
