To be safe, I'd invest in stuff you need, stop all non-necessary spending. Pay off debts to the greatest extent possible. You know the stuff we should do all the time, but that plasma tv, is so freaking sweeet.

Not much else. you can do. Oh, start a garden. Buy a solar panel. Get a Rain Barrel. LOL. Sorta kidding, but if bush is right, we should be living in sewers in a week or so. I mean we'll all just move because they tell us to.

We vote that idiot ass and his party out of office...Then we give Obama and the democratic congress four years to straighten the republican mess out...If they don't then vote them out and move to Costa Rica or China.

Virgoans think alike.

To go back to the OP: my next move is to spend my last few dollars on as much champagne and pills as I can possibly get. Why suffer and think, when one can be artificially happy  ?

Silly Kittin ,this has been my mantra since I have reached puberty....better living thru chemistry is not just a bumper sticker....it is a way of life....still waiting on the explanation on geddon..although fearytattoodgirl gave a funny one somehow I think there is more here..

Investments? What investments rofl?! Seriously, some of us will come out of this relatively not so badly off... because we had nothing to begin with anyway.

About the artificially induced happiness - been there, done that, got the T-shirt. Although it is a charming fantasy in times of strife.

But faery got it right: there was nothing more to it, I'm afraid  .

I can't believe these idiots in Washington are playing with everyone's financial well being and lives.  These dam republicans are playing political games.  Every American should be very pissed off and never trust these knuckle heads.  Now they are saying it could happen by Thursday but the market just went down 50% the worst ever and I am sure more banks will close by the end of the week.  If these knuckle heads (democrats and republicans) do not act by thursday it could be another two weeks and by then we will see a total collapse in the financial market world wide.  What have these politicians been doing for the last 2 years?  They new this was coming sooner or later and did not take the proper procedure to protect our financial market.  God help us!!!

So we're headed to Armageddon?  Cool!  I can finally deck out my car like a Mad Max movie prop.  If the 2nd Great Depression is coming, who wants to be the Bonnie to my Clyde?

The money trust won't give up this easily. They'll buy more time from congressmen and put together another proposed package. Think about it, they've had a complete monopoly on creating money out of thin air for almost 100 years. Do you think they'll just leave the field and forfeit?

Of course I have, Kittin.  I'm your typical American Gen-X'er.  The television was my babysitter.  .  I am in such a good mood today I really haven't paid any attention to politics or the economy at all.  I am at the nihilistic point of saying, "fuck it."  It's a mess, and I can't do anything about it.  So I will just sit back and watch the chaos ensue.
