I prefer to be topped by men older than myself- part of that is that I've had WONDERFUL experiences at the hands of older men- even out of the lifestyle, I prefer my men to be older, and yes, even old enough to be my father.

Part of why I like older men is that I am only 25. Going much younger gets illegal. Men my age tend to be (not all, just most that I've met) immature. People my age (men and women) don't tend to have a whole lot of experience in the lifestyle, either. I've been in the lifestyle for 7 years now... I want someone who has at least that much, or more experience than I do.

I say this with all due respect, because I am for all practical purposes the same age as you...but...while age doesn't always indicate maturity or wisdom, still I think that someone who believes that he or she at 18 or 20 or 22 has enough life experience and knowledge to master someone else, probably needs to learn more about themselves. In all honesty, I've done more in 23 years than some people do in a lifetime in terms of education, career, and traveling the country, but I am still an insecure kid at times, which I'm not ashamed to admit. I mean come on, I'm 23! As the years go by I imagine the childish part of me will get smaller and the adult will begin to emerge but I was naive to think when I got into the "scene" at 20 years old that anyone would want to be my slave to the real extent that I mean when I say that word. By all means, that doesn't mean that you can't have a D/s relationship until you reach some certain age but when you (not you personally but the average 22 year old) are either still in school or just graduating, barely making enough money to support yourself, possibly still dependant on your parents, freaking out because you can't get a job with your expensive degree, and all the rest of the stuff that comes along with the early 20s, you're not exactly the ideal dominant role model. Whereas someone who has his/her life completely in order and has been around the block several more times can *appear* to be the better candidate for a master. Again, not saying that's correct (there are assholes and idiots of all ages) but it sure helps them, and sometimes they actually do have their shit together more than we do, I'll give them that...sometimes. ;)

Maybe it's a kind of obsessive compulsive disorder which tries to make the universe EVEN by doubling everything...you know like stepping on and off the curb twice, double checking gas taps and light switches or eating two chocolate eclairs instead of one.
It usually gets worse, except in the case of Doms as it's quite difficult to get a Dom three yimes one's age.
That's why I go younger.........i also don't check gas taps or curb steps and the like.

If older men have more desirable charactertistics, then younger ones often display less desirable ones.

Such as Dog Humping Leg syndrome. I am quite sure that many people on these forums have seen men(Of all ages, through mostly I see younger lads do it. No clue if that's true overall or not. I am also sure women do it too) that desperately try to gain the attention, and advances, of any woman(Occasionally men too) of the correct orientation. And sometimes the wrong one as well. They message tons of people, regardless of profile, and expect results IMMEDIATELY. And then whine when it doesn't happen. And keep throwing themselves at anyone, anytime. They act like oversexed little dogs with little grip on reality that needs to get laid/play RIGHT NOW or they'll hump the furinture as well. They come off as "OhgodlovemeWhyaren'tyoupayingattentiontomeLovemeLovemeLovePleasePleasePlease"

And I love the real comments. Oh noes! No one is interested in you! We must all be...Androids or something. Or online fakers.

And then some of the men display ANGRY Dog Humping Leg syndrome. Well. Those legs didn't want YOU to hump their legs. So there must be something defective with them! Or the people that they are with...Yes, all older men are fat, disgusting slobs with mind control techonology from aliens. That must be it! There is nothing wrong with you! Just everyone else! It's like those guys who ask why every woman is attracted to jerks. Exactly what are you basing this question on? The assumption that every guy that is getting laid that isn't you eats babies?

Tip: Lose the attitude, talk about what YOU have to offer a woman, and drop the stuff about allowing her to go out with her friends, work out, etc. A sub like me(Not a sub outside of the bedroom) will attempt to slap you for even thinking that you could control that. A sub who wants to be a slave 24/7 will say "Yeah, no shit, idiot. Don't do things which are warning signs of a abusive realtionship". (Or I think they will). That's a bit like saying that you won't steal their credit card and then flee to Mexico. It's just not an option for sane, respectful people, so you don't need to say it.

It's not something that you offer a sub. It's their right, and they'll decide their lifestyle changes, not you.

Did you ever hear anyone called a 'dirty young man'? 'Tis for a good reason. It takes a long time and years of practice to reach such depths of depravity, hence by default, we become 'dirty old men'. These seems to be a quality much appreciated by young ladies, thankfully

Older doms usually have more experience and patience. Since I am an older dom, I'm a little biased. The problem I have with younger subs is "cultural". I have little desire to "hang" with their friends who are usually 20-25 years younger. This has been a problem for me, but if it I limit the relationship to the dungeon, motel room and/or BDSM night at a nightclub, it's wonderful!

My partner is 17 years older than me... which is almost double my age...

Its just what works.

I understand your frustration... and I know it sucks...

but older men are typically just so much more mature than younger guys... and though its not gaurenteed that someone of a younger age is inexperienced, its also very obvious that the 20-25 year old men don't have the 20 years of experience that a 40 year old Dom is capable of having...

And though that experience doesn't necessarily make them better... its attractive to some... especially those younger girls (i would think) who are new to the scene themselves... and want someone who can help them learn, instead of someome who is learning along with them...
