The Times

Zeituni Onyango, the aunt so affectionately described in Mr Obama’s best-selling memoir Dreams from My Father, lives in a disabled-access flat on a rundown public housing estate in South Boston.... "I can’t talk about it, I just pray for him, that’s all," she said, adding: "After the 4th, I can talk to anyone."

I wonder what she'll have to say.

And I can't help but wonder,in the great scheme of things what could she say of importance...or relevance.Perhaps she noticed socialist leanings from Obama as a small boy?Or is it the apparent squalor of living conditions that makes what she has to say so interesting......IMO your interest is interesting.

I'm sorry. I didn't realize it would be difficult for you to understand. In my family we wouldn't let a beloved aunt live forgotten in squalor, "apparent" or otherwise. I know that new concepts can be hard to grasp at first, but I hope that helps.

Actually not difficult for me to understand at all Kirata...the question was purely rhetorical, but since you were being all helpful with me and in the spirit of openness...perhaps you can answer the question for me ...What could she possibly say that has any bearing on the job Sen.Obama will do once elected....One last thing Kirata ,please lose no sleep over my ability to grasp any concept you can espouse.

what an odd family.

no matter what i want for my family- if they want what they want it is not up to me to force them elsewhere-  I could and would offer- but beyond that- people do what the want to do- in so far as families go.

I seen a blurb- of interest-  neither Obama or McCain will make a good leader- due to the father being not around....  so went the peice.

Well, at least Obama didn't fuck his wife over to go live with some rich slut for 6 MONTHS before his divorce was final, because he couldn't keep his dick in his pants. That's your boy McCain.  Such a paragon of honor and virtue, he is.

Ok...Kirata after reading the entire article, I am not sure what you are looking forward to hearing her say. She has contributed to his campaign fund by her own choice and I suspect where she lives and how is by her choice as well. My mother and her brothers had to fight like demons to get my grandmother to give up living alone, where she chose to and how. She was happy living in the last home she had shared with my grandfather before his death, near her neighbors and friends and fought tooth and nails against being moved to where they could care for her. This is something that every family tends to deal with, no matter how squalid the area seems to us, it is home to them.

His aunt is active, teaches and reaches out to teens in the area tand this may be extremely important to her..remember it takes a village to raise a child, especially in the part of the world she is from originally.

Perhaps the only thing she will have to say after the election, is "It is good, the boy has become the Man and it is good."

We shall see I am sure.

Unh, what did I say I was looking forward to hearing her say?

Frankly, I can't imagine what she might say, or why news of her existence had to be dug up by a reporter, or why she "can't talk about" her relationship with Obama until "after the 4th".

Lotta transparency going on here.

What an odd thing to say.

Did you interpret "wouldn't let" as implying an imposition of force? I see the opening for that interpretation, of course, but I assure you it exists solely in your mind, not mine.

slvemike, desperate people will try to dig up anything they can.
Auntie Zietuni's situation will not affect the election, 5 days from now.
lol
I want to start a few threads about how the mental health of the Republicans.

Have you heard Senator Obama talk about how the Republicans are throwing everything
at him except the kitchen sink?
I have been listening to big water head Hannity and the drug addict Rush Limbaugh for comic
relief lately.
Their worlds are crashing in on them.

I think they should leave the country.

Things we don't know about seldom do. That's the whole idea behind us not knowing about them.

You didn't say that is why I said I am not sure what you are looking forward to her saying. She seems to actually have said a lot already to the reporter and in her contributions to Obama's campaign...

Maybe she is comfortable living the way she lives and wouldn't feel "at home" with a life of priviledge.  That's kind of hard for a lot of people to relate to, but it's not all that uncommon that people (especially the elderly) are most comfortable living in the same status that they grew up in and have lived in all their lives.  And god forbid they take a "hand-out", it shows they need assistance.

I don't really know what she can't talk about now that has to wait till after the 4th, but she doesn't exactly look like a savvy spokesperson who can handle reporters or an interviewer who is going to try and put her on the spot, so maybe she's a bit intimidated by all the hype and figures it's better to lay low rather than get tripped up into saying something that could hurt his chances.  I don't know. Just a thought or two.

Could be damn near anything.  Unless she is going to confirm that story that Obama was actually born in Kenya, and is ineligible for the Presidency, it doesn't matter much.  Crazy old aunts are ubiquitous.  Hell, she might be funny.  If she has the gift of gab, like her nephew, she could get her 15 minutes on Leno.

An Associated Press story about poor people buying lottery tickets at cheque-cashing shops, from Cambridge, Massachusetts, on May 25, 2003, quotes a Zeituni Onyango whom it describes as out of work and without much money. “It's like when I feel luck might fall I do that, like manna might come from Heaven. That’s when I buy it,” she told AP.

sounds like this little old lady wants to hit it rich to me, "like manna might come from Heaven" when she purchases the lottery tickets.
the poor thing has poor health.  if my aunt was living like this, i would do more than use her name in my book!  even if Obama and this little old lady do not get along, he should at least tend to her better than this!

oh and if this man does not care about his own blood, why would he care about a lowly citizen like me or you?

Ok.  Crazy old aunts, who've been told by a judge to leave the country, aren't quite so common, and easily dismissed.  I don't think it will matter.

If illegal immigration was the hot button issue of the election, this could be a decent October Surprise, but nobody cares about that right now.
