"Information about the deportation case was disclosed and confirmed by two separate sources, one of them a federal law enforcement official.

The information they made available is known to officials in the federal government, but the AP could not establish whether anyone at a political level in the Bush administration or in the McCain campaign had been involved in its release."

~~~~~~~~~~~~
I`d say yes there was.
I`d say that there was no doubt that a McBushy released the info,for selfish political purposes.
Did anyone hear anything about "HAMAS" endorsing Obama?
       I'm more interested in the rumor that the LA Times is covering up video of Obama endorsing them...
Of course you would be interested in tht rumor Heretic,and of course much like Obama the secret muslim rumor it has no validity....but what the heck you will run with it anyway....is there nothing you will not throw out there,no level you will not stoop to?   Curious to know where you draw the line Heretic.
          There you go again, Mike.  Leaping to completely wrong, snarky assumptions.  And then you wonder and whine when you get ignored...
       News flash.  The media will still have a 24/7 cycle to fill after the election, and with the White House, and both chambers of Congress under Dem control, what they'll have to sell will be buyers remorse.  All the stories and investigations we didn't get during the primaries and general election seasons are going to come tumbling out of the closet.
         Barry isn't going to get much of a honeymoon.
I'm gonna guess that if this were anyone else's aunt, she would have been deported in short order.  I won't make any assumptions that Senator Obama had a hand in keeping her here.  But if he did - who among us could blame him?  It wouldn't be any more an abuse of power than Sarah trying her hardest to get a state tooper fired or Senator McCain working to get his military records sealed.  Life - not just politics - is full of this type of crap.  I don't see this as any serious scandal.  At least not yey, anyway.
As to why she lives the way she does?  If I had a deportation order hanging over me I think I would want to stay as far under the radar as I could.  Accepting help from her nephew, in this case, would probably not be such a good thing.  Also, maybe she is like many older people I know and has an incredible amount of pride and simply would not accept the help if offered.
Here's a thought gang: rather than make up wild theories, rumors, and speculations, let's see how the facts play out.  I'm talking real, documented facts, not somebody's opinion.
Who am I kidding - it'll never happen :(
~Dave
           Uh, Dave?   Did you happen to notice the part about her living in public housing?  How is that not accepting help?
       Thanks, Bita.  My reply was informational, not critical.
      Gotta love the fact that even though she has been denied legal residence in the US, she works for a government agency, and lives in subsidized housing.
Once again, an issue about a non-issue. Double standards all day long. I cannot be bothered to debate this asinine issue, October surprise it is not and if these are the things anti-Obama folks want to bring up four days before the Election, when we are in a war and going through an economic melt-down I think that says less about Obama and more about the irrational thinking of those who oppose him.
Then you could reverse that and say Obama must be doing a lot of things right; it's like Hillary and the "He wrote a paper in Kindergarten" silliness. Now it's his aunt.
One more thing, on a relevant, but sidenote. I have plenty of relatives going through hard times and yes, they call me up (sometimes) when they want something or need something, however I am not in a position to always provide help. Obama's aunt is 56 (or 57) years old, which is a little over 10 years older than he ... come on, she's a grown woman and responsible for her own life. When is it his and Michelle's responsiblity to provide for everyone in their family.
I am so sick of the double standards, this so called Republican "bootstrap" mentality is used when it works to their advantage, however, now the claims are that, he should have provided for his aunt blah blah blah! Give me a F'ing break!
I am also beyond sick of American society's utter contempt for black people, in that the reasoning is, that each individual black person is responsible for everyone that shares the same skin color and ancestry as themselves. That is utter ridiculousness. So if Ray Ray down in Chicago shoots someone, Faira over in Washington should be held accountable because she's black too? How absolutely asinine and illogical is that?
Get your mind right.
That's right. There are much more important issues at hand.....like how much did McCain's wife's outfit cost and does Palin's daughter really want to keep that baby?
~This is a Fast Reply~
Until we know the whole story it is just speculation. However, while the Judge may have denied her, there is an appeal process that would allow her to stay until it is exhausted, especially if it was political asylum she asked for. AS for the familial aspect, I have cousins, aunts and uncles I have not seen or heard from for several years and vice versa. Some were beloved when I was a kid, but lets just say the divide once I escaped my parents house was large... I haven't seen or heard from ANY relatives from my fathers side since 1986 and that was my father.
Now, Obama is being examined closely because his beloved aunt is an illegal immigrant.  But, the questions are, 1) is she actually illegal or is she under an appeal, 2) if she is illegal how is she working for a state/government agency and living in public housing as she would have had to present a work visa or green card.
Why would someone think that she was in contact with him, or that he knew she was illegal? He grew up in Indonesia and Hawaii, attended Harvard law School in cabridge, MA and has been living and working in Chicago and D.C. ever since. Boston is a large City and unless she contacted him, it is highly doubtful he expected to see a person he last saw in Africa living there or even knew that she was having immigration problems, which as a Lawyer and Senator he MIGHT have been able to help with.
So easy to jump to conclusions when the information is incomplete and so easy to think the worst when that is what you are hoping for to validate your position.
It's a little more than being "denied"; she was *"ordered to leave the U.S." *according to the A.P. article.
This is just another reason that we need to end those phoney "Asylum" or "Refugee" programs.
They all claim that they'll "be killed" if they return to their native countries but none of them ever are.
And the articles about them back in their own countries (Boston Herald, Globe) always say that they're; "living peacefully (in Bongoland) but have a great desire to return to the U.S."
There were cases of Vietnamese and Cambodian "refugees" in Boston and Lowell, Mass who after working in this country for 3-5 years took "vacations" back to,.....you guessed it, Vietnam and Cambodia!
Any type of "feel good" program like those is going to be loaded with scams.
Also, those types of programs should *never* lead to U.S. Citizenship.
I don't get your point, because my post said nothing about Palin's clothes or her kids. Once again, side stepping what I was saying, with nonsense.
If people were more willing to make provision for their families, the "need" for public housing and other forms of welfare could arguably be eliminated.
