"Major life change necessitates personal reinvention". That will be a useful mantra for the GOP.

Marc2b -> RE: THE PEOPLE HAS SPOKEN (11/4/2008 7:35:29 PM)

Baring divine intervention, it looks like Obama’s night.  Ah Well…  To all the Obama supporters: congratulations.  I hope you’re right about the man, I really do.  Although it is too early to be sure it looks like the Democrats will not reach that all important 60 seats in the Senate.  That’s a good thing.  Every Administration needs some sort of brake on it.

Yikes!  But then I think CNN is also a case of Yikes!  I like to switch back and forth between the two.  I figure between those two extremes I can divine at least some of the truth some of the time.

if, by some miracle, Obama wins...it'll be another "Kennedy" incident

At this point I think it’s McCain who needs the miracle but I hope you’re wrong about the assassination thing.  As much as I distrust that man I don’t wish death upon him.  I fear you may not be wrong, though.  Right now a lot of klansmen and militia types are cursing and throwing cheap bottles of beer at the television.

And, I just checked and one site showed Obama with twice as many electoral votes but less popular vote.  Is anyone going to cry if the E.C. "takes away their choice" this time?  It would be strange if it happened again so very soon, would it not?

It would indeed be fascinating to see if the people who squawked – or defended – the Electoral College last time suddenly reverse their positions.  Oh, who am I kidding?  Of course they will.  Politics brings out the worst in people – starting with hypocrisy.

Maybe you're unaware but if Obama wins tonight your comments become a federal crime.

Advocating assassinating the President is a crime but is speculating on its possibility?  Sometimes I despair that anybody around here understands the concept of dispassionate analysis.

Isn't that discrepancy due to the fact that an enormous slice of the country hasn't been counted yet?

Owner59 -> RE: THE PEOPLE HAS SPOKEN (11/4/2008 7:43:52 PM)

Ohio went for Obama.

It`s pretty much over......

kittinSol -> RE: THE PEOPLE HAS SPOKEN (11/4/2008 7:46:16 PM)

Pennsylvania too. Florida's about to pop, and my bet is that Virginia will too imminently.

It's one of these special nights that remain in the collective memory :-) .

colouredin -> RE: THE PEOPLE HAS SPOKEN (11/4/2008 7:47:28 PM)

Im off to bed now its late i just wanted to see how the results were going for a bit, i know its not over yet but its looks ace and i have got to say, without any amout of patronising to everyone who voted him, thankyou, honestly.

ThatDaveGuy69 -> RE: THE PEOPLE HAS SPOKEN (11/4/2008 7:47:59 PM)

It's sure looking that way! :)
But I still worry about not all of the votes being counted yet.  Granted, percentages tend to hold up once you get to a statistically significant number, but I'll be happier when McCain concedes.

GreedyTop -> RE: THE PEOPLE HAS SPOKEN (11/4/2008 7:52:55 PM)

FL is still very close.. CA still needs to weigh in.  According to Fox, VA went with Obama.
Marc.. yeah, my plan had been to flip back and forth between CNN and Fox.. so now I'm watching Fox and checking Yahoo (who is going by APs #s).

Tie yourself to a chair?

Is that some kind of weird, kinky stuff?

Thinking of the pain and desperation of the Republican candidates, I feel my sadistic side is waking up.

LaTigresse -> RE: THE PEOPLE HAS SPOKEN (11/4/2008 8:00:33 PM)

And FLORIDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG MEGA HAPPY DANCE!!!!!!!!!

Owner59 -> RE: THE PEOPLE HAS SPOKEN (11/4/2008 8:02:34 PM)

ABC just called it for Barack Obama

ThatDaveGuy69 -> RE: THE PEOPLE HAS SPOKEN (11/4/2008 8:02:57 PM)

At 11 pm eastern, Barak Obama has been declared the president elect!

I'm so happy, there are actually tears in my eyes.
