quote:
ORIGINAL: Joenextdoor Well, in the case of Great Britain and Australia, they are worse off. The law abiding citizens, or subjects, dutifully turned in their guns, and now only the criminals and the cops have them. I do know that crime rose afterwards in those countries in general. Guns crime is still a problem, surprise surprise. The only difference now is that law abiding people do not have the means to protect themselves. Well, I have lived in some iffy areas, but can quite honestly say, since I left all that militaristic crap behind twelve years ago, I have never seen a gun, nor have I been shot at. I have seen plenty of knives, but no guns. They are around, I have heard the occaisional shot loosed off, but on the whole, gun crime is pretty low here, compared to other crimes. Often it is those who are prosecuted under gun law have been found in possesion of the things, not actually using them.
