Do you know how many abused women who leave their spouses get killed? Restraining orders dont do a thing. That alone would be enough for me to want a gun.

How many? Tell me as a percentage, someone must know! These figures would also ignore the many women that were shot dead and didn’t report it.

I did post a link.

heres a slew for you to view. Including battered women in prison for defending themselves.

Well thanks, putting 'battered women statistic' into Google had never occurred to me before in terms of finding information on battered women statistics.

If you know the number of women killed by their ex-partners, save time and tell me because I don't know and you asked it in a rhetorical way giving me the impression you knew.

Well I would like to think I made better choices of partners to not end up abused. I have never been in an abusive relationship. But if I was in danger from an abuser who was stalking me and my life was in danger....abused women are in the most danger after they leave the abuser. I would get a gun and protect myself.

I'm sorry you had to put up with that, luscious. Spousal abuse is a heinous, disgusting thing: I am still not convinced guns are the solution though.

Well, what evidence do you have? You're spouting just as much as the rest of us in here. If you have a site that says it's better to not have a gun when being invaded, I will read it. It's not something I see to much down here in Houston.

No, what I am saying is that the whole "home invasions" story is an urban myth propagated by the NRA and then spouted off by their loyal followers.

The so-called "home invasions" that do occur are generally the result of domestic disputes or drug deals.

So, as long as you don't have a disgruntled spouse and you aren't selling crack then I'm pretty sure you are safe.

That's not true.
Last fall my condo assoc's "neighborhood watch group" had a meeting with a Sargeant from the Horry Co. Police. (pronounced "Oh-ree")
He told us that there are home invaisions in the daytime and night and that due to this being a mainly tourist area the chamber of commerce doesn't want things like that in the news as it would be bad for business.
Three or four years ago there was a string of home invaision robberies here which *were* on the news as the three men and one woman used a badge and misrepresented themselves as the police. The police wanted those assholes real bad.
The Sargeant said if you don't know the person just don't open your door.
And he said if they break down your door you have the right to shoot them as we have the "Castle Doctrine" in this state.
You might look on the FBI website for "home invaisions."
I'm usually up late so I go and take a walk around the parking lot to make sure no-one's "parts shopping" and just keep my eyes open.
We did have a break-in when this place was brandnew and I did get the plate number and description of the vehicle.
That guy and his friend are in jail now (again).
And I was looking at the sex offender registry and his picture was there!
When he gets out of jail I am going to fuck with him UNMERCIFULLY!!!

My fault for not making my point clearly.

I know they do happen.

What you've described is the exception.

Most home invasions are from people known to the homeowner.

I'll post later with statistics if that will help.

I think a vodka-loaded gun, or even better, one filled with Champers, is an utterly charming idea for your wedding, Toppy :-) .

My little finger is wider than 9mm, Ms Greedy. Why are guns measured in metric units anyway? I’ve never wondered that before.

Because the metric system is superior, and far, far more precise  .

Yes I've been asking for metric time to be adopted for donkey's ears and why should a right angle have ninety degrees when you can round it up to 100 , I’ll never know.  We’ll need four hundred days in the year for the new measurement of the earth’s rotation.
