one of my ex b/f's used to make a hot toddy, gads I dont remember the recipe but omg it helped.

With all the nasty stuff going around and seeing so many people get sick and some of this stuff just keeps lingerings or goes for a second round, I almost and I stress almost !!!!!! (note the five) feel guilty because I have a super immune system and even if something gets me its I feel yuk for a day and on the mend the next day, with the exception some of the colds/ flu/ virus's hit my lungs which is the only compromised area it affects, and this I have a perfect routine to avoid a dr visit, keep any lung infection at bay and save a unnecessary trip to the dr...it just take a while to clear the chest since I do have some asthma problems and suspect copd due to smoking for way to long and yes btw when I am settled I will be again trying to remedy it.   I did go to the dr for the last bout of coughing since it was making my whole body sore, he did the take a Z pack just in case, which I opted not to take because I could tell there was no infection by watchimg and looking at what was coming up. I do not do anti-d unless I am dead sure there is an infection, which keeps my natural immume system in superhero mode..

What kinds of problems can happen from the potassium in the sports drinks?

actually...this is recommended. The sports drinks have such a blast of potassium that they can be more harmful then helpful.

Good old-fashioned bouillon is one of my useful helps. Same effect as the chicken soup (cans of generic chicken noodle are always in my pantry), but no solids.

The trick with ginger ale is to warm it so it is flat—nauseous combined with carbonated tends to unwanted trips to worship the porcelain throne. My mom used flat 7-Up for the same purpose when I was a kid. For those who enjoy herbal teas, lemon ginger tea is a great thing.

And docs told friends with a infant who had diarrhea—while travelling in Turkey—to give the baby flat Coke. See, you can get Coke just about anywhere on the planet, and that not only kept baby hydrated but the caffeine in colas tends to constipate so it helped slow the fluid loss.

Feeling like crap is all about the sleep. When I'm dealing with a throat issue, all I want is orange juice or ice cream, when I can't escape into sleep.

And I'm a natural fiber fanatic anyway, so cotton sheets, cotton covered comforters, and cotton thermal blankets are all I own.

Too much potassium can be fatal; that's what nearly killed Dennis Quaid's twins, was a potassium chloride solution that was several orders of magnitude too strong (100,000x?). The sodium-potassium balance affects the heart but don't ask me how. I'm not a doc or nurse, but when I was suicidal several years ago potassium chloride was one of the ways out I studied.

My Dom was hit this this awful thing over the weekend. My suggestion is to eat lots of mashed potatoes and chicken soup (healthy and full of protein), drink a lot of water/gatorade/powerade, and take naps as often as humanly possible.

If you can, smoke marijuana. THAT'LL STAY DOWN.

Potassium effects the muscles in the body. The heart is a muscle. Too much/little potassium can cause muscle spasms, speed up or stop the heart

And Delilah...i am so glad you are here!

As Holly said... Potassium makes muscles contract and move properly. You need to have a good balance of sodium ~ which fules the potassium... and potassium in your system for healthy heart function.

Heart pateints are given large doses of potassium so that their hearts will work more effeciently. They are also sometimes proscribed Potassium chloride in smaller doses.

Potassium chloride overdose will make the heart explode basically. Not a good death. Trust me on this. ( My mom's heart exploded... it is not a good way to go) ~ She had heart disease, and it just popped suddenly.
