It's an invasion from Oz. Can we on this continent handle it?

You have to give SERIOUS consideration to Florida Wanders, not sure I should have recommended that, given the potential "Wanders and Greedy bring Florida to a standstill" headline that might result but, speaking from experience, theres a whole bunch of really honest, indecent people here who you will be glad you didn't miss out on meeting.

And I get a kiss from you, even if it is by proxy [;)]

*scribbles note to wanders... pls give pirate a proxy kiss - flavoured with rum, it'll probably be a long deep plunder*

digital video stands up to playbacks much better, btw

post script... don't let greedy see

The transcontinental passenger rail system (or intercity as it's sometimes called) is deplorable when compared against those systems in Europe and Asia. There are some consistent and reasonably scheduled and on-time routes, like what they have linking Washington DC to Boston, MA (and all points in-between). Other longer routes, though, may not be so consistently scheduled or routed.

Traveling the US by rail can be done though, if one takes the time to master Amtrak's web site or employ the services of a travel agent knowledgeable in Amtrak's service.

This post is, of course, my opinion and interpretation of a train trip I took that arrived at its destination about eighteen hours late.

Oh don't worry Pirate, when GT and I bonded by swapping photos of our cars many moons ago I knew that I would have to definitely put Florida on my must go to list (see, who needs a cock shot when you have cars)

I have done some lovely train trips in Mexico and wish so much that I had a lot more time and could go travelling through there again and I have been on a few train trips in the US but in the past have mostly greyhounded.  I don't have the time this trip to do that either this time ..... especially if I want to get all of the proxy and not so proxy hugs and kisses from people.

Angel I think we should seriously start planning for another trip in the future over there! OMG that would be cool.

edited to add the most important bit....and thankyou for the different suggestions, I am saving them all to help me decide on things to do when there

If you make it out to California on this trip or next, look me up.  I can show you places all up and down the coast.
