Yes.  Whole fruit is nutritionally better than fruit juice, and less likely to cause spikes in blood sugar.  There is no specific reason to drink milk; it is one of many possible sources of calcium and Vitamin D.  Lactose intolerant individuals do not have major nutritional issues avoiding milk and milk products.

Beer deprivation may not be much fun, but you aren't going to get anywhere with an argument that suggests you need to drink beer to stay healthy.  You don't.  Likewise you do not need soda, and in general you are better off without the stuff.  You may find that water with a squeeze of lemon and a packet of Splenda is very nice indeed, if your Mistress allows.

Meat is a good protein source.  Nuts are *not* a very good protein source; they are however a good source of healthy fats when not taken to excess.  Remember that fat has 9 calories per gram, whereas protein and carbohydrates have 4.  For an additional protein sources, beans come highly recommended, and pack a healthy portion of fiber and nutrients as well.

I am not a big fan of dominants meddling with people's diet and exercise plans without some degree of technical expertise, or without the help of someone who does indeed know whereof they speak.  But what your Mistress is recommending is indeed a healthy habit and worth sticking to.

I'm going to sum up what you need to know at length. Drinking water is fine. If you are only drinking water, however, strongly consider taking a calcium supplement with your diet. Avoid consuming excessive amounts of water within a short period of time, as this can cause a serious condition called hyponatremia. I don't know where you live, but during periods of exertion or exposure to hot weather, I would strongly advise drinking a beverage with electrolytes (Gatorade, Powerade, etc) to prevent heat related emergencies. In short, as long as you maintain a normal diet with a healthy balance of all food groups, what  liquid you consume on a day-to-day basis shouldn't be of key concern.

I agree with DesFIP, just too be sure and also health food stores will be able to give advice.

When dealing with health issues, is best to get a professional guidenance.

Go see a nutritionist and make sure your diet is appropriate.

INteresting- please let us know how this evolves. And for what it is worth cereal with yougurt is delicious! Try it and see (same rda of calcum).

The below is actually pretty good when served cold.

LEMON MINT CUCUMBER WATER
Hands-on time: 5 minutes
Time to table: 5 minutes (flavor deepens over time, of course)
Serves thirsty souls!
1/4 a cucumber, sliced thin
a lemon, sliced thin
sprigs of mint
2 quarts water

Add cucumber, lemon and mint in a pitcher. Fill with water. Enjoy!


NUTRITION ESTIMATE
Per Serving: 0 Cal; 0 g Protein; 0 g Tot Fat; 0 g Sat Fat; 0 g Mono Fat; 0 g Carb; 0 g Fiber; 0 g Sugar; 5 mg Calcium; 0 mg Iron; 5 mg Sodium; 0 mg Cholesterol; Weight Watchers 0 points (who says I'm not thorough ...)

As for the ops question, all I can say is think about animals... do they drink milkshakes, cola, orange juice, tea, coffee or alcohol? we are the only species of animal that drinks anything other than plain and simple water once weaned.



My cats prefer to drink water full of mud over simple water every time! lol

greetings to all,

OP, my Master has implemented a similar rule for me, so I can sympathise with you.  He purchased a water purifier for me, and it has made the task not only bearable, but enjoyable .

I adore the purifier.

The task itself is a very hard thing to get used to, but after a month or so, water is the only thing that quenches your thirst. 

The main thing to watch out for when drinking so much water is muscle cramping from depletion of electrolytes and salts (I know from personal experience!).  If you experience cramping, drink 500ml of Gatorade (or similar; the drink must contain electrolytes to be of benefit) to every litre of water.  Make sure that the electrolyte drink has an hour to absorb before you start to drink water, otherwise the effect will be lost (a trainer at my local gym imparted that bit of information to me when I'd complain of awful muscle cramps that interfered with my workout).  The advice worked; I haven't suffered a nasty water consumption related cramp since!

if you like juice have oranges.   3 oranges are far better for you then a glass of orange juice.  and just as much juice.
Milk is actually not as healthy as people seem to believe  it's actually really hard on your system unless you are drinking very limited amounts. 
Milk is really high in fats and especially trans fats which are really bad for you.    unless you are drinking skim milk and then it depends on the brand.
Fish is a good source of calcium yes fish :P  Sardines actually are much higher in calcium then milk and much more healthy. (it's in the bones hehe)
pink salmon as well is another fish (canned with bones)
Yogert of course as long as it is low fat and plain or added with your own fresh fruits or berries. 
Spinich is also really high in calcium.
chedder cheese as well is really high.

and ofcourse there is always the short cut and just take calcium pills lol.

I agree with firefighter, an exception for gaterade in very hot weather should  be given. I spent ten days last year in 115 degree heat daily. Plain water made me sick, I needed a ratio of one gatorade first followed by two waters of the same bottle size.

As for those who say animals don't drink this? We gave the horses electrolyte salts in their water also, for the same reason.

I hate the taste of Gatorade, so when I was Landscaping a couple of years ago, I found this stuff called Cellular Salts. Basically they are little tablets you put under your tounge and let dissolve. They are full of salt and trace minerals in a sugary base. They work great for me when I am needing a little something to combat electrolyte problems.
