I think this raises a lot of interesting questions: Steele says GOP comeback has started - USATODAY WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican Party Chairman Michael Steele likened President Obama's popularity to that of a celebrity and said Republicans can't be afraid of criticizing him head-on if they want to regain their relevance. "He's young. He's cool. He's hip ... he's got all the qualities America likes in a celebrity, so of course he's going to be popular," Steele told state party chairmen Tuesday. But "this is not American Idol. This is serious ... and we are going to take them on." Steele said the GOP has owned up to the mistakes that caused its fall from power and is embarking on a renaissance. "The era of apologizing for Republican mistakes of the past is now officially over," he said. "We have turned the corner. .....................He also was opposing a resolution — whose final wording hadn't yet been set but was expected for a vote Wednesday — in which Republicans would rename the Democratic Party as a "Nationalist Socialist Democrat" party. ................."Republicans may be the minority party at the moment, but we represent the ideas and concerns of the majority of Americans," Steele said.

Or maybe "The Republican Fascist Party" I listend to the speech. Great that he has announced that the GOP is now full of fresh, new ideas... unfortunately, he failed to elaborate on a single one of them. Strange that he couldn't keep the envy out of his voice as he ticked off all the positives that Obama has going for him... (funny, they loved "celebrity" when it was the Alaska bitch...) We're getting out of Iraq... The Stimulus passed. Global warming has been acknowledged and new carbon standards have been established. Stem cell research has been reinstated Health care is being addressed. Other nations have been reassured that the USA is coming back from it's nightmare years of the Cheaney administration. The auto companies, teetering on the edge after decades of mis-management, are being retooled to become more competative. No major numbers of blue collar jobs are lost. The economy is shored up, and the forclosure problems are being dealt with by setting up resolution trusts for home owners who got into their mortgages in good faith. All in 4 1/2 months. Kan you imagine what kind of SHIT we'd be up to our eyeballs in if Gramps and Caribou Barbie had gotten in? Banks would have seized up, and we'd be in the middle of a second great depression... thousands more would be dying overseas, and our name would still be shit around the world.

Amazing how things get reported. Here is a story about Steele opposing some stupid resolution some committee came up with, and the article closes with some Dem Party spokeshole saying those is no sign of Steele opposing the whackos in the party. That lack of contact with reality is going to cost the Democrats large in the months and years ahead for this administration.

Could someone please show me a link..... reputable please where the GOP/repubs/rightwingers/conservatives have apologised for anything???..... Im not talking from here on the boards, but where a member of the congress, senate or representative have actually apologised for anything that happened in the last 8 years, the crisis that has followed? I realise that politicians dont usually apologise unless their dicks have been caught somewhere they shouldnt have been. But to make a statement, (that I read on Fox this morning) that they have done enough apologising proves that they are so totally out of reality it should have taken light years to get here. just asking:) Lucy

Anyway, now that I've sent my slave off to the store with clamps all over her tender bits, back to discussing the GOP comeback...[:D] The Democrat Party is now squarely in charge. The honeymoon is over. President Obama really didn't win by all that much. If the middle starts getting buyers remorse, the Repubs are going to scoop them back up.
