Thats what i was thinking.

If an occupying army was traipsing around America,say an army from a Muslim nation,and was proselytizing Islam,how would that make you feel?

And just b/c these man are serving and taking the risks that they all soldiers are taking,doesn`t excuse them from disobeying orders.

What these men are doing is not a "gift",but rather a purely selfish indulgence,religious conversion and "saving" people.

Those soldiers haven't done anything except talk about doing it. They were punsihed, and it is over. So how many bibles was it again? Who did they give them to?

My brother is serving his 3rd tour of duty in Afganistan and I would hope that all people would not lump military personnel in category or another, he is an admirable person and what he goes through on a every day basis is anyone's guess but I do know he goes without food at times and he also needs something sent from home just to get by, and on this Memorial Day weekend I would hope that people would have other things to bicker out besides this.

My youngest daughter tiffany(23) is married to a wonderful man, and he is muslim. Tiffany converted after she was married to abdullah for about a year. After getting to know abdullah, and knowing my daughter because i raised her, i can assure you they wouldn't kill anyone for having a Bible. Also after getting to know abdullah's parents and syblilings, i feel confident in saying none of them would kill over the pocession of a Bible either.

Just taking a moment to check that you didn't mean this in response to any of my words, as I have no interest in painting people unilaterally in any specific way and didn't intend my words to come across as supporting such an idea.

My friend.. I'm a pagan who lives in the South. I have people all the time proselytizing every thing from Christaniaty to Islam and a few others. In the end you are offering up a "what if". Well what if we stick to facts. The facts are there are some good people over there sheding blood because we asked them too. You may not like that we are over there.. and if you don't fine. The fact remains that they are still over there. As I said ealier in my post, I understand you don't like the war.. but what you are doing smacks of what happened to the young men returning to the States after fighting in Vietnam and being called "baby killers" or worse.

Ok next lets take disobeying orders.. as I said IF one of these people did this then court martail him/her. They should be drummed out because they can not follow orders. In the end though you are using information from a highly unreputable source to condem ALL of them...

First off,a google search will prove this a myth,and an ugly one to boot.There have been exhaustive searches for articals or reports,official or otherwise about GIs being called baby killers or spat upon during and after the Viet Nam war.No reports of anyone getting their asses kicked for spitting on a soldier,either..

I am not in fact,against the Afghanistan mission.I`m as pissed as hell over eight years of planned failure and gross incompetence of our leadership, there.

I`m referring to bush,not the officer corps or the enlisted men and women.I`m referring to bush`s "war done on the cheap" policy.The same policy, that got Iraq FUBAR.

I`m pissed that Afghan mission has suffered b/c of the Iraq diversion.

I`m pissed that Afghanistan has gone neglected to the point that it may not be salvageable.

Please stop lumping me in with those who lump all soldiers into one group.I haven`t done that.

My concern specifically,is with the soldiers and their welfare.Doing this is endangers them.

We are guests there and should act like it.To let a few fundies indulge themselves this way isn`t worth even the slightest compromise in the safety of our men and woman there.I don`t care if they mean well.

Actually we are not guests there, we are allies. But I get what you mean. Spreading this story as if it were truth, does endanger our military people there. This is why I posted the links I did, and keep mentioning that the military took the bibles before anything was done.
