We're having fireworks Saturday night!! A potluck supper will be held before hand. I'm bringing fried chicken and some peach ice cream.

*Finishes the last of the ice cream, watches the last of the faint embers in his dying campfire blow out.*

*Whistles, and the dog runs out to his side. Expressionless, his eyes sweep the empty town one last time. Theme music plays softly under the sounds of the wind and the occasional creaking shutter. His horse, fussing for a moment, breaks his reverie. He strolls over to the hitching rail, checks to see the extra rope, whips and strawberry jam are secure in the saddle bags (hey, ya never know whacha might find on the trail), unties the reigns and mounts. Turning the horse toward the street, he slowly rides past the sign at the edge of town (the dog runs about, sniffing the ground, exiting to be on the move again): "Town of Old Western. Collarme Territory. Founded by Panda, '09. Population: 0."*

*The theme music swells, he nudges his heels into the horse's flanks, and rides toward the sunset, mountains in the distance, the dog happily chasing around horse and rider, the former town's buildings slowly shrinking. A cell phone rings...the dog sniffs the air--not his phone. The rider flips his open. "Hello." It's his agent. "Yeah, I'm on my way now. Bond and bondage. Got it. I know. Well, someone...er....something came up. I'll be there soon. Yes, in time to start filming. Huh? Oh, no, not a problem...I'm good. One think this town had a lot of was baths. Yeah, I know. Thanks. That's why you're my agent."*

*Music picks up tempo...film credits roll....theatergoers pull their shoes out of the gum on the floor and go home to log on to their favorite threads.*

*off in the distance, just on the edge of town a deep rumbling is felt .....under the cover of darkness, a glow appears over a large mound of dirt and it begins to swell. A soft humming reverberates in the night air as the knoll grows larger and larger and then suddenly stops. A small crevasse appears on the side of the large hill and smoke begins pouring out in the night air and sounds of snarling can be heard coming from the inky black depths. Soon a shape of a half human/half beast merges from the shadows.*

The dog stops and cocks his head..... the Gunslinger turns around and sees a small cloud of dust coming behind him along the trail. He waits, inhales the scent of sage. As the horse comes into view, he can see it's a fine quarter horse. The dust dissapates as the horse and Rider pulls alongside. A long gaze into one another's eyes. The Gunslinger turns his horse to the trail, tossing his cell phone into the brush. The Rider falls in beside him, their horses' dust co-mingling. They set their eyes to the trail ahead, hands firmly on the reins...........

TELEGRAM - Great News! The Frito Banditos have changed direction and are on their way to El Paso instead!! Where the heck are we on the map, anyway??

*thinking we're gonna need a mapmaker's office (or whatever the heck those offices are called, lol) and a mapmaker to help us with that*

MusicMystery claims we are somewhere near Nillaville. At the moment, I think we're just an elevation note on a territory drawing.

I'll add 'cartographer' to the list - and we'll  hire one of the surveyors away from the railroad company's team to help him. You'll need some cowboys to accompany them as outriders. I think the (one) hostile indian is still searching for scalps LOL

Apparently its time to update the infrastructure list

Hmm... think I'll take a stroll down to the water well at the edge of town. Looks like a nice quiet reading spot, as it's been out of use for who knows how long. I'll bring my parasol and fan so I won't be bothered by the heat of the sun. No one will think to find me there, perhaps not even an indian brave, or that strangely pretty Lozen woman. Maybe stop by that swanky restaurant the Judge lady owns for awhile.

Oh, and I have some sleeping pills my pa sent me from back east. I don't need them, but maybe that man with the talking dog will?
