Though I said we could discuss my alleged infraction in court, apparently the cop didn't care to, as he didn't show up.

I have written many citations, as well as taken many to jail in my near 20 year career.....but that ended several years ago for me

I'd have to see the dash cam tape (the story said there is one) to make a call one way or another. Having said that I don't think there should be any age limit on tasering. There are plenty of senior citizens capable of getting out of hand when they want to. Granny doesn't look all that frail to me.

She didn't look that frail to me either. In fact, watching her on the video, she looks pretty feisty. I'm wondering, though, why the dash cam footage hasn't been released. Too soon, maybe?

Dash cam video is considered evidence until date of the trial. Hence we will not see it unless we get to go to court or see it on Tru TV.

Another interesting thing to note in this case is that, before the dash cam footage came out, she was more than happy to go on camera, proclaim her mistreatment at the hands of the cop and demand justice. Now that the footage has been released, she's strangely unavailable for comment. Funny that. Granny must not have heard about these new fangled movin' picture cameras in the police cars these days.

I finally saw the footage last night on the local news and she was quite fiesty and arguemetive(?). Usually when I get that way with the police they help calm me down which was what I saw the constable doing.

He was trying to calm her down, keep the both of them out of traffic and diffuse the situation. She, on the other hand, was throwing her age out repeatedly, daring him to arrest her, daring him to tase her, slapping away when he went to cuff her. You can only give someone so many chances and warnings. The talk radio guys up here said "she would have been frying like bacon by now if I were the cop." The same guys last week were saying what others in this thread were saying -- "Seriously, he can't handle a 72-year- old woman?" Funny how things change when the facts are known, isn't it?

It looks to me like she thought she didn't have to listen to the officer and that he "couldn't do anything to her." Hopefully, she learned a valuable lesson or even two. Don't resist arrest would be a good one. Maybe she might even learn that the law applies to her just like the rest of us.

If I was the officer I would have been worried, from the way that she was acting, that she may hurt herself, like run into traffic. I mean, she didnt seem to have any regard for well, anything.

The Police department. I have a question. I looked at the cam link. Why did he go to the driver door? This was a busy dangerous road. In PA the cop goes to the passenger window when those conditions are met. The cop DID warn her about being tazed- more then once- so even if her hearing was off- she had ample warning. Anytime there is a lawsuit no one talks to the media. If I were the judge- I would give the lady an extra ticket for disorderly conduct - and the speeding. I also would have the PD revise the policy to more like PA policy. The officers body WAS shielding her from a potential car hit. I dont think I would reprimand the cop. But the approach of the driver window vs the passenger window is crucial in this event. The arresting officer does not set policy and he did verbally warn her 5 times. --> Therefore I apoligise to the cop. I do take issue with the PD policy and think the lady could still have a lawsuit. A dangerous road- going to the driver door. stupid. I have to say that the officer clearly telling her he would taze her has impacted my opinion here. ...and if you think about it 2 dead bodies could be lying on the highway due to the lady throwing a temper tantroom cause she got caught. Hey- I got caught. You probably got caught. We took our lumps with out incident. I also suspect that an upscale area- well- the locals tend to be pompous and arrogant. So- the cop acted in a fair way- particularly since they both could have been road kill. To the cop; I am sorry.

I think the reason he may have gone to the driver side door is because it seemed rather loud, and it was a larger truck, perhaps he did not think he would be able to give her the ticket, or even communicate from the other side? merely conjecture, mind you.
