It's California, Greedy. There's tits a-whippin out all over, and the ones nursing are the only subtle ones!

Ohhhh, okay, I thought it was a woman anyway.

I work in a restaurant, I would never call my manager on this subject and I would not send any woman down to the can to nurse. If I knew she needed to nurse as I sat her I would give her the booth with the most privacy so she could feel relaxed and unbothered.

FR, after reading most of the thread (tho' I hid a couple of people's stuff , & will likewise ignore the responses they might make to my posting, FYI. Mostly cuz I don't care what they think about much of anything after what's been displayed in this thread . . . . . lol . . . . But also because I have the power to ignore those minor annoyances which are easy to overlook . . . .. lol . . . . & because I am such an asshole, lol)

Okay, given the above constraints, this thread was a hoot . . . . . Some of my favorite posters were well worth reading . .. . . .

I breastfed the 3 offspring for a total of three & half years (the eldest got a year & a half, the others got a year apiece) . . . .. . . A big chunk of the reason of why to breastfeed, outside of the health benefits for both mother & um, is that it's so convenient -- no bottles, no prepping bottles, my tits are always with me, always ready, just pop it out & feed the kid . . . . . . & other important benefits of breastfeeding that come into play are that it comforts the offspring above & beyond the food in their tummies aspect (ie, turn the yowling offspring into content or sleeping offspring in 5 to 15 minutes) . . . . .

I was pretty discrete about exposing my breasts, but that had way more to do with my own feelings of shame about my body than anything else . . . .. .

Oh, & I got so good at breastfeeding that by the last um I could breastfeed her (discretely) while strolling thru the grocery store -- they usually get most of the milk out in the first 5 minutes on each breast, so it's not like it goes on that long . . . . . . & as Kittinsol pointed out, those baby front-packs really make the whole thing a lot easier, lol . .. .. & as Holly, LaTigresse, & others pointed out, big baggy clothes & otherwise dressing to accommodate the need were also useful for 'hiding my shame' . . . . . .

My only real regret about my breastfeeding is that I wish that I'd breastfed each offspring for 2 or 3 years each . . . . . . But I chickened out when they got old enough to start trying to get into my shirt in the grocery store line, lol . . . . . . I was too embarrassed to keep breastfeeding them very long after I couldn't easily be 'discrete' about the whole thing (much easier with young infants than with toddlers, lol) . . . . . . & this link has some interesting stuff about that connection: http://www.breastfeedingmomsunite.com/2009/03/poll-results-moms-who-dont-cover-do-breastfeed-longer/

& I'm such an extraverted asshole anymore that if I was to be breastfeeding in the future I'd be tempted to be as flagrant as possible about it just for the pleasure of plugging in zealots, lol . . . . . . . That, & what an honorable way to tangle with the stupid excesses of the criminal injustice system .. . . But then, I believe in public nudity, too, lol . . . . . . Those would be legal citations / infractions I would frame & hang on my wall with pride, lol . . . . . . Gandhi, MLKJr, & Oscar Wilde all taught me that there are good reasons to fight the system, & bad, & public breastfeeding, to me, is definitely a good battle to fight . . ..

The pro-breastfeeding groups stage mass breastfeeding events where hundreds, even thousands, of moms get together to breastfeed en masse -- after reading thru this thread I'm gonna make a donation to La Leche League, a donation in the screennames of those who got most offended by the mere possibility of seeing tit, specifically towards those mass breastfeedings, lol . . . . . . .

But, like I said, I'm such an asshole, lol . . . . .

Attacks on my point about the legality of the issue of ejecting someone specifically for breastfeeding is moot... because they're not being ejected because they're breastfeeding. They're being ejected because they're taking part in a behavior causing a disturbance to other patrons, in which case if they do not change that behavior they can be asked to leave

*WITHOUT BEING GIVEN A REASON AS TO WHY THEY ARE NO LONGER PERMITTED ONTO THE PREMISES.*

The important part of the statute is this: "wherein the mother otherwise is permitted."

I
you are twisting the words to suit your own prejudice. The fact is women are permitted to nurse in a public place and that includes a restaurant. Do you actually think, with these laws in place, most managers is going to eject a nursing mother, risking a lawsuit, public scorn, etc., because of one ignorant patron?

Tell you what...if the sight of a nursing mother bothers your delicate sensibilities that much, pick up your dinner and take it into the mens room

See, it's the opposite for me, go figure. Probably colors my opinion on it quite heavily. The act is what is the problem for me, not necessarily the breast being out in the open
So...a baby being fed is a problem for you...not the naked breast?

Dude...you have SERIOUS issues and it is now clearly evident that anyone trying to reason with you is wasting their time.

Aravain.. let me point out this  Ohio law once again:

"provides that a mother is entitled to breastfeed her baby in any location of a place of public accommodation wherein the mother is otherwise permitted"

in other words... if the Mother is not doing anything -QUOTE disruptive END QUOTE other than breastfeeding .. WHICH IS LEGAL.. then the manager/landlord/whatever is NOT- repeat... NOT legally entitled to require her to leave the premises.

However...a fit-pitching asshat patron who objects to breast feeding can be tossed out on his ear...LEGALLY

i have 2 UM's  i breastfeed my youngest one, and i had an incident happen at HOME. I was sitting on the couch watching tv and feeding my UM when i head screaming outside. Well my other lil one was out side playing and i ran out to see what happend baby still attached so to speak, i have him and most of my upper body covered up so no one could see and my next door neighbor made the comment that it was "tacky and rude to be outside feeding a baby like that" i was shocked to say the least. I felt this was my home and she had no  right to say anything to me.

Let me be real simple in my response, WyldHrt:

Yes, it *does* work that way.

The law (at least here) allows for an owner to deny service to someone without giving them a reason why. The courts cannot compel the owner to have a reason why this person is no longer permitted (or share it if they do have one), and allows them to make that decision *AT ANY TIME*.

The owner is being accused of ejecting the woman because she is breastfeeding. The owner's defense is that he was ejecting the women because she was not permitted on the premises (the owner does not require a reason for this). If she was not otherwise permitted on the premises, then whether or not she was breastfeeding is insubstantial. There is no breaking of that statute.

EDIT TO ADD: Not only does the owner not require a reason for it, he isn't even required to explain at what precise moment she was not permitted there (or when/if she will be permitted back).

Then maybe it's best you stay out of Canada since we do allow women to breastfeed their off spring in public and , shocking enough, we also made it law a few years back that a woman can walk around in public topless. If you'd stop and realize that most, of not all women who do breastfeed in public have a nursing blanket covering the babe and themself to add a bit of privacy. No woman wants having strangers staring at her while she feeds her infant in public. This gives her a sense of comfort and calmness to the offspring.
After viewing your profile, now it makes total sense why you've been complaining so much on this subject. The sad part is you're coming across like every other twink who follow the "in" crowd by basing your dislike for a woman having her breasts somewhat exposed. No wonder my kind have a great distaste for your kind.

okay first your mentioned that one complaint covers all other partrons, so does that make you a mind reader.  What gives you the right to speak in mass for all other patrons.  I can almost guarantee if all patrons were asked the results would be in her favor not yours....hey try it sometimes, disrupt all the patrons with a poll. Im sure that will go over well, hell it might even cause a disturbance and said manager you kick you out. *shock*

If you are the only one complaining like I mentioned before, ask the manager to move you to another table, or move sides with  your damn backside to the nursing mother......simple fix.  But Im sure that would be to easy.

Why fanke Bear

He keeps bitching about having to see it, last I checked most tables in restaurants have 4 sides.
God forbid he get up and move to the opposite side.  All that energy and all it takes.

The odds are if he were to complain the manager we just move him and not assume he is speaking for the masses.
