What constitutes profane?
I had a hoodie from an awesome little tattoo parlor in Vegas called "Picture Perfect" Their image was of a woman wearing a short skirt and fishnet stockings bent over, with tattoos on almost all of the skin
is that offensive?
I also have a shirt that says Think, its not illegal yet, and people have told me that offends them, because it apparently means I am bashing the government
You never know what is going to offend the random people you see in your day to day life, why bother worrying about it?

Exactly my point. There is no one person who decides what is and is not profane or offensive. Man years ago, I saw a t-shirt with a picture on it of a cat and a chicken angrily starring each other down. They were each holding a wounded arm, obviously caused by the other. The cat looked at the chicken and said "Chicken." The chicken looked back and said "Pussy!"

Now, my stepmom....with 4 youngin's she was looking after saw this shirt and said "Oh that's cute." Many I know say it's clever. Yet I have seen that shirt on the news at least once with someone saying it's profane.

the other barb to this is that what is profane changes with the times
which is why we dont call women whores when they show their ankles anymore, yet women are considered slutty if they show less cleavage than Queen Victoria did

i agree...but where do you draw the line? Where does legal turn to illegal?

Exactly my point. Where does it stop. And the answer is, it stops when we make it stop. But right now, we're so far from that, it's ridiculous.

Anytime someone doesn't like what someone else is doing, they appeal to lawmakers and make it illegal. There was a post on this very site about something like that in England. Someone filed some type of nuisances order because some chick was screaming too loudly while having sex. Then she got arrested for it.

We have murders and worse stalking our streets and we as a society are responsible for that because we are busy tying our legislators' time up with frivolous bullshit.

Indeed, another problem.

I am convinced that the future depicted in "Demolition Man" will come to be, it may already be here.

Simon Phoenix in that movie said "Welcome to the year 2032. I am sorry to say that the world has become a pussy-whipped, Brady-Bunch version of itself, run by a bunch of robed sissies."

We're heading there much faster than I would like.

i would not be offended by that...but a tee shirt with FUCK YOU!!!!! screaming out at me IS offensive. A woman discreetly nursing a child is in no way offensive...but a woman who bares herself to the waist because it is her right and indecency laws do not apply to nursing mothers...oh please.

There is a level of dignity and self respect that dictates modesty and attire. Some have it and some do not.

You wouldn't be offended by it, but others would. You would be offended by a shirt with fuck you on it, but others aren't. See the problem?

There really.....really isn't. There is what people project, nothing more. I once had a shirt with a popular phrase from a wrestler on it. This is a phrase uttered on nationally-syndicated network television. Yet some still didn't like to see the shirt.

Why? I mean unless it is literally screaming ((Which I have seen)) Its just a few words on someone else's clothing
Not tryin to bag on you or anything like that, I just dont see the point of caring what other people are doing to themselves?
Unless their shirt is activley hurting people I dont see what the issue is? ((And not hurting their feelings, but actually causing physical damage))

Sure...but you are always going to have someone offended by something. There is no law in the land that pleases everyone, Loki.

Exactly my point. If it *does* offend someone, why is the phrase "if you don't like it, don't look" not even considered. So a shirt offends you. No one is putting a gun to your head to stare at the shirt. Avert your eyes. Starring in public is supposed to be rude anyway, right?

Exactly what I'm saying. Everyone will be offended by something. Yet when they are the ones doing it, they say "it's none of your business, just don't look." But when they are the ones offended, they demand the action/clothing/phrase be silenced or prohibited by law.

because i am very old fashioned (there...i said it!!)

I do not appreciate offensive clothing...but i also cannot argue their right to wear it.

really?
The Rock was like the most innocent wrestler to ever get that famous... Now hes doing Disney movies even :P
I had a DX shirt that on the front said, "We've got 2 words for ya" and on the back said "Suck It"
that one pissed a lot of people off.

Bingo. Mr. Disney movie now had a slogan in his wrestler days that, although said NIGHTLY on NETWORK television......would get "offended" reactions from some people. And why? Because their kid might see it.

Umm....hello the shirt came in YOUTH sizes TOO. Who do you think watches wrestling??

Loki...if i were nursing my baby with a full boob shot, i would believe it is your right to say you are offended. Hell...i would not be too happy seeing another woman doing it.

But when it is done with dignity...there is nothing offensive about it. And i know what you are going to say...it is in the eye of the beholder. If someone finds nursing WITH DIGNITY offensive, there is not a whole lot i can say to them.

Actually what I would say is ANYTHING offensive is in the eye of the beholder.
