I don't have much of a sweet tooth but I do drink a lot of alcohol and regular food. It could be I'm picking up the fat because of the alcohol.

I'm not lazy. I walk every day, hike, even lift some weights. I'm sure I would be 300 lbs if it wasn't for excercise.

OP, let me sum this up for you:  You seem to have absolutely no reason to be overweight except for alcohol.  And you say that you would be morbidly obese if not for exercise.

Your first thought for losing weight is to use a drug.

Sounds to me like you have one helluva drinking problem.  Just how much do you drink?  And you may have the sort of personal proclivities that should keep you the heck away from ANY addictive substances.

Phentermine (Adipex)  has been prescribed for over 50 years.  (It's NOT fenflueramine, which is off the market).  You can go to a diet Doctor to get it.

The big problem with Fastin (Phentermine) is it causes high blood pressure. Unfortunately if you need this med to lose weight, jump start a loss, you are very likely to already have high blood pressure as a result of the overweight.

The most common side effects are irritablity, shakiness, dry mouth and constipation. There are others but they are much more rare.  But if your Dr. puts you on this medication, it means the risk of being how ever much overweight you are outweighs the risk of taking the drug.

I know this is a little old, but since it was revived I have to add....I take phentermine when I gain 5 or 10 pounds, and literally you have to remind yourself to eat. The stuff is amazing, and my BP is like 120/70 really, and I know I don't have a weight problem, but trust me, there are all kinds of ways to get phentermine besides a doctor. I am *not* recommending that route, just saying that anyone with the internet and a basic knowledge of oh say Mexico can pretty much get "phentermina" shipped right to them. I always have a emergency supply and in a week, it's easy to drop those 5 to 7 pounds or so. Yeah I know, I am a bad influence. I'll cope. I work out, eat super healthy, but I am over 40 and I am not going to kill myself at the gym over 5 pounds. I'll take it once or twice a year to kick start things, and not worry about it.

yep - i lost 50 pound with fastin, and would eat half a pear and realise that i didn't want the rest. Oh how i would like some more of that pill. And healthwise - didn't do squat to me. I would have stayed on it for the rest of my life but my doc got cold feet.

Be sure to get the t4 or t3 test. these tests are more sensitive for the thryoid production. That is how the doctor discovered that I had hypothyroidism.

Belly fat is the hardest to get rid of. The only real way to get rid of it is to build muscle. Muscle burns fat, period.

Eat protein, only complex carbs, whole grains, etc, no 'whites' (white sugar, white flour, white rice, etc), vegetables and fruit. Stay away from fruit juices, which give calories without the necessary fiber that is in the whole fruit. Fats in moderation are okay, like butter.

I've lost 55 lbs since August (and have plateaued, and it's pissing me OFF!!!!) and I'm not going hungry. I eat a lot of protein (chicken, beef and pork, and tons of eggs) and if I eat carbs, it's always in the form of whole grain breads and crackers.

Also, I stopped drinking diet pop. It's one of the worst things for you. I drink mostly water now, but do have non-fat milk in my protein shakes.

And lastly, get moving. Even just 30 minutes of walking a day will help.

Diet pills are just a band aid. The person who invents the 'magic pill' that will help you lose weight without doing the above mentioned things will make a mint.

Beef and pork are no no's... too much fat and cholesterol per serving. Eat leaner meats -- fish and chicken. An Alli pill will help if you get started if you feel you need to stop and munch something bad every single day, but even without it, you should have a fun snack (150 calories or so) each day.

Juice? You can drink juice, but think of it as a meal or snack supplement. A juice diet is recommended often times for the morbidly obese, so juice isn't an enemy. I'd make sure it's a high fruit juice content vs. sugar concentrate. Filling your stomach with fluids will make you less hungry, and thus, juice works well as a snack supplement (one serving = +/- 150 calories).

About the fluids... drink more water. Water helps everything, and exercising is essential. How do you lose weight? Eat less and move more. 500 calories a day = 1 lbs per week. 500 less than normal = 1lbs per week dieting, and 500 calories burned per day exercising = 1lbs per week. 2 lbs per week is healthy and on a good pace.

No, you are wrong.

Do a search for 'eat fat to lose fat'. You will find many new articles about how bad 'low fat' diets are for you.

yeah then six months after taking it you see a 60minutes episode about the company being sued cause some guy was taking the pills and puked his liver out or something one morning. I don't trust weightloss pills
