Laborboleta, what a good-looking boy you have!

Mine are here, busy begging for chicken tidbits. Angel slightly scraped the bridge of her nose when she was outside. Looks like she was trying to get under a fence or something. Hopefully she has learned her lesson and will not try to do whatever it was she was doing.

Angel's "coaching" seems to be helping. There have been no skirmishes or chasing in the last two days.

ETA: Right after I typed the above paragraph, Angel came in and chased Misty. Loves to make a liar out of me. However, the frequency of the behavior has gone WAY down, so the coaching is helping.

Thank you MysticFireTopaz. He and his sibling were all who survived of a litter who were found  in a barn during a cold snap in Oct 2002. His brother, Wilbur was nearly frozen; took a while to pull him through. He's fine now but I've always thought he is short a few neurons. Nothing obvious, just a "look" he has about him sometimes. Here's his picture:

Oops, too big a file. Have to upload it into a new message.

OK, here he is:

So what kind of "coaching" are you doing with Angel?

He's cute, too. Doesn't look like he's too thrilled about having his picture taken.

Angel is being "coached" by experiencing negative consequences when she engages in the undesired behavior, and being rewarded when she refrains from the undesired behavior. When I catch her in the act of terrorizing Misty, either she is yelled at and sprayed with a water bottle, or else I loudly shake an empty soda that I have put some coins into and taped shut.

She will now sometimes start exhibiting signs that she is thinking of engaging in the undesired behavior, then it seems to kick in with her that something bad will happen if she follows through. If she makes a better choice and doesn't terrorize Misty, then they both get treats. Or, if I notice them in close proximity getting along well, I reward them.

I had a cat that passed away earlier this year that Angel used to terrorize constantly. This coaching method reduced the undesired behavior toward that cat. For some reason, a few weeks ago, she stepped up her intimidation of Misty, so she is being coached again. The only correlation I can think of is that Angel decided to stop sleeping on the chair in the bedroom and start sleeping on the bed a few weeks ago, where Misty used to sleep. She has now decided she doesn't want Misty on the bed and also stepped up her chasing and intimidating behavior as well.

I am, as usual, surrounded by my crew. Bit Bit is trying to grab hold of a penny on the d.esk, , and now he's hanging off the keyboard tray....any typos are his! He seems to have had a minor growth spurt, he seems bigger all of a sudden. And he's just a little dervish....he just banzaied KB. What a little terror!

Mystic, Bit Bit is learning about the spray bottle too.....my bedroom curtains by the bed are pretty much shot......I am going to move the bed away from the window on my days off. KB started clawing at them, but Bit Bit is hanging off them! Little brat! I just have to be careful about hitting him in the face, which of course, is where I usually get him....he turns to run and it's right on the path of the spray.

He's healing great...I have to stop at the vet and get him some more antibiotics....I didn't screw the top all the way back on, and when I picked it up I dropped the bottle and lost half of the meds. He's got another week before the stitches come out......I hope that's a painless episode. I'm terrible at the vets.....can't do needles, hate to see them get poked and prodded.....and Bit Bit is going to suffer the ultimate pain......he's getting neutered here pretty soon. He's not ever giong to get in the cat carrier again at this rate! He rides good, tho...I took him out of it hte last trip to the vets, and he sat on my shoulder and watched traffic go by. Otherwise, he was doing his little pitiful crying that's geared to break the heart of anyone heraing it! Am I a sucker, or what??!!! These kittehs play me like a fiddle!!!!!

Borboleta, you have some mighty handsome kittehs there!

Okay for those of you who haven't seen what Maggie looks like here's a pic. The other day she sent her first text, the whole of it being "V", lucky recipient was our own Poohbear.

Yes. I know exactly what you mean about curtains, s2s. I had such a bad experience with curtains in my condo in California that I went to blinds only when I moved here. Of course, Misty managed to ruin the mini-blinds in my bedroom anyway.

When my Aunt passed away earlier this year and my sister and I inherited her condo up North, my sister, the buyer, and I were talking about the lace curtains my Aunt had throughout her condo. My sister hated them, as did the buyer. I was the only one who thought they were beautiful and loved them. The buyer asked me why I didn't take them down and hang them in my townhome, since she didn't want them. I just laughed and told her that those lace curtains would not last an hour in my townhome with my cats.

She's a beautiful Tortie! Sweet face.

So she texts, huh? Better password lock your computer. I swear my cats go online when I'm not home and buy catnip and stuff.

she's a calico actually. I don't mind if she goes online; it means she won't chew through the wires like she did my webcam when she was younger.

Angel is busy entertaining herself with a straw she found somewhere, batting it all around the floor. Misty is sitting atop the kitty condo, grooming again.

Looks very similar to my girl Pepper

Pepper, Urmel and Summer are getting ready for their next move, with moving back to mommy next month at last

well our house is a little quieter we ended up finding the puppy, Blondie, a new home yesterday and such but now we have midnight running about and playing with what is left of tied socks for him to play with and also his mouse toys.

the only annoying thing he does now is that he has went back to trying to suckle on Mystic's titties and she has never had kittens and its not bothering her now or at least shes not showing it. she also has taken to gromming him and such and i think in about april or so we will be getting Midnight fixed because by then he will probably be 6 mos. My husband and i also think he was the runt of the litter because he isnt growing very fast. he's probably about the size of LB of s2s's bunch.

Im glad that LB is healing well im sure hes going to be ready to get the stitches out. the other thing that i have found is that though mystic and sasha some what tolerate when i run the vaccume Midnight absolutely despises it and will run from it hissing and spittin up a storm the minute i start to run it.

EP, all I have to do is open the cupboard I keep my vacuum in, and they scatter to the 4 corners of the apartment!

Currently, LB is stalking anything that is in motion.....he was chewing on me just a few seconds ago.....and about 5 mins ago, he was climbing my leg like a tree. Fortunately, he was digging into the jeans, not the skin. His little nails are like needles! And his toofies are pretty sharp too......not sure if they are baby teeth or not, but he sure knows how to use 'em!

He's getting bigger, I can tell in his face...the socket that is empty is starting to sink in...I was sorta hoping that wouldn't happen, but he's still a cute little guy anyway! There's no such thing as an ugly kitten....or kitteh for that matter! He's busy banzaing KB again....and KB is ducking and running......LB tends to bite when he's playing, usually the ears....that's gotta smart!

Well, I hafta be up at O-dark 30, so I'm going to beat it...later dudes and dudettes!

EP - you don't have to wait until Midnight is 6 months old - I know that was the thinking in the past, but when we got our last pair they were both done before 9 weeks! Check with your vets ....

That doesn't necessarily mean much. Maggie was smaller than she should have been when I got her. While she isn't the biggest cat out there, she certainly made up for lost time.
