as usual when I check on this thread Angie is off somewhere snoozing. I love her to pieces, but seeing at all the activities in your homes makes me wish we weren't a one cat family. We all miss Angie's little bro, but since my Dad is our pet sitter when we're out of town I made a deal not to replace Thor until Dad passes. I hope Angie is an old lady by then.

Damn he's a cutie. Not much of a harness though; geez what's his problem. Has he tried to get out since the "omg GRASS!" episode?

I never realized that some cats will eat anything. I had a cat that used to eat nachos and pasta and bananas and bread and pretty much anything I left out. I had to be just as careful as if I had a dog.

My cat is collecting fleas. I have used both ultra guard and frontline on her, and given her a flea bath- yet when I checked her tummy last night she still had those little bastards running around.

Going to try giving her another bath, and deal with her repercussions(she IS spiteful and I WILL pay).

I get the skeevies trying to cuddle with her right now, knowing they are there.

I tried the back of the neck stuff before I went out of town two weeks ago. Shampooed about 5 days ago.
Her fur is shiny and soft, and I think it may have gotten rid of some fleas on her back, but her tummy is infested.

ETA
Think if I hold her with her belly underwater long enough they will all drown?
Do fleas drown?

yeah... this morning as I was trying to get groceries in the house. one of the neighborhood cats had been lounging on the front step, I guess he wanted to sniff or something.

No. Fleas don't drown. Give her Advantage. Frontline takes a few days to work. If you bathe her within a few days of giving it you wash it off. Advantage works QUICKLY!!

Am I really the only one whose cat doesn't beg for/try to steal food?

All of our cats are food "hounds". *lol* And yes, they beg, borrow and plead. Little miss PandaLion has a unique way to do it. First she'll sit on the floor, look at you and meow. Then she'll gently tap you with her paw. Then she'll add a teensy bit of claw action with the tap. If you're still not serving her wishes, you get a big hard tap with full on claws.

My kitty did like people food when she was a kitten but now she would rather eat cat food only....last night though I put some very small pieces of a hot dog on a paper towel while I was eating in bed and she ate it...usually she doesn't though.

No. Insects can survive being submerged for quite a long time.

The problem is that your house is also infested and it may take months for the fleas to starve.

Can you shave the tummy?

I am not against the idea. She is fluffy and every summer I shave her so she wont be too hot. Would that help?

Holding her tummy underwater wouldn't do any good anyway, since the bugs would just move to higher ground.

It is one less place for the fleas to hide.

Cold might make the fleas lethargic and easier to catch, but the cat may not like the cold.

You might tried a bath in yoghurt. When the yoghurt dries it may clog up the fleas' breathing apparatus.

Or a bath in diluted acetic acid; I dunno what that will do to the fleas, but they might find it unpleasant.
