There is one thing you can do to get rid of fleas on your cat and dogs both. You can give them a bath in Dawn dish soap. If you are afraid of your cat clawing you in the bath, you can take some tape that you have pulled out and stuck to itself, leaving enough sticky tape to hold it in place. Take your cats paws one at a time and push on the pads to get the nails out, then wrap the tape, non sticky part first, and finish with the sticky side securing it. Wash them in the kitchen sink. Always put some Dawn dish soap in the water first, this will kill any fleas that run down from the rest of the body as it is getting wetted down. After the Dawn dish soap bath, you can finish up with any of the commercial cat bathing soaps if you wish. With the different scents in the Dawn dish soap now, the cat and or dog will smell very nice afterwards. Make sure the water is at least 101 degrees, as cats and dogs have a higher body temp than we do. Another thing for fleas on carpets. Take a shallow pan, put some Dawn dish soap in it with some water and put it on the floor. Place a lamp or some kind of light so that it shines over the pan. Close enough to keep the water a little bit warm. The fleas will jump into the soapy water and drown. Master told me this quite a few years ago and it does work.
