There is one thing you can do to get rid of fleas on your cat and dogs both. You can give them a bath in Dawn dish soap. If you are afraid of your cat clawing you in the bath, you can take some tape that you have pulled out and stuck to itself, leaving enough sticky tape to hold it in place. Take your cats paws one at a time and push on the pads to get the nails out, then wrap the tape, non sticky part first, and finish with the sticky side securing it. Wash them in the kitchen sink. Always put some Dawn dish soap in the water first, this will kill any fleas that run down from the rest of the body as it is getting wetted down. After the Dawn dish soap bath, you can finish up with any of the commercial cat bathing soaps if you wish. With the different scents in the Dawn dish soap now, the cat and or dog will smell very nice afterwards. Make sure the water is at least 101 degrees, as cats and dogs have a higher body temp than we do.

Another thing for fleas on carpets. Take a shallow pan, put some Dawn dish soap in it with some water and put it on the floor. Place a lamp or some kind of light so that it shines over the pan. Close enough to keep the water a little bit warm. The fleas will jump into the soapy water and drown. Master told me this quite a few years ago and it does work.

Fleabusters has a powder to put on your carpets and floors. It's about 50bucks for a 3 lb container, but it lasts a long time. It's orthoboric acid aka boric acid and some inert ingredients.  I use Advantage on Gabriel and bath him in Dawn dish detergent. I'm on the ground floor of hot behind Houston and haven't had any fleas in my home or on Gabriel.

On the food topic, I recently found out Gabriel loves yogurt. I eat a lot of yogurt and caught him licking one of the tops. Now he gets a dollop every so often.
Who knew?

Dawn is a great tip ^_^ I used it on my ratfinks when they got a bad case of mites.
It's supposed to dislodge the eggs because it dissolves whatever holds them onto the hair. Other shampoos kill adults but leave the eggs, so your animal is infested again. Dawn washes them down the drain.

The local stray cat (possible drop off) acts like its scared of me but it does not move, just watches me.  I think it is trying to say that it is hungry.

All of our cats are food "hounds". *lol* And yes, they beg, borrow and plead. Little miss PandaLion has a unique way to do it. First she'll sit on the floor, look at you and meow. Then she'll gently tap you with her paw. Then she'll add a teensy bit of claw action with the tap. If you're still not serving her wishes, you get a big hard tap with full on claws.

thats about like mystic. she likes to jump on the arm of the couch and then reach paw out and ever so gently with claws try and pull the hand that the food is in to her mouth so she can get her tidbit she wants. Midnight on the other hand mews and mews and mews till you either swat him vigorusly with the paper, or yell at him or finally give in and give him enough so that you can finish eating in peace.

hmmmmmm these flea treatments such as the dawn sounds like something that is safe for me to use on my young Midnight just in case he got some fleas off of blondie when we had her but he doesnt act like he has any so im not too horribly worried.

Fitz is writing some sort of manifesto. He won't let me read it, but I snuck a few glances and it was something like blah blah blah more mice, blah blah blah, less dogs...I'll report back if I can sneak in any more peeks.

(I think he's serious this time!)

Angel is quite the little sneak....she listens for my car pulling up, then positions herself right in front of the door so that the minute I open it, she dashes right past me to get outside.

re: the flea bath using dawn.

Dawn has several different varieties now. is there a specific variety to use? (I just found a flea on Cashie *DAMMIT!!*) and I wanna get this nipped in the bud before I gotta vacate and fog-bomb....

When I went home at lunchtime my boy cat came running out of the "cat room" shortly followed by my female foster kitten.  Me thinks they were co-mingling!

my cat is under a bush, slowly breathing his last breaths. sunshine is dappling his coat and warming his bones, he occasionally looks up at me, but he's deliberately inaccessible. the kookaburra's occasionally laugh, the flies buzz, the grass occasionally stirs over his ears, the sun keeps shining.

he's no longer moaning, maybe his soul is 'solar charging' under the tree. he curled up to me last night, and it must have been an effort because he kept moaning in pain (i didn't know that was what it was), but i think he just wants to go in his own time, in his own way without letting his pesky human cuddle him and hurt him.

awwwww, Angel, I'm sorry to hear about your beebee. It must be heartbreaking for you. {{{{{HUGS}}}}} to you.we33333333333333333333333333333 And that would be Little Bit adding his comments......

My bunch are happy tonight....I'm actually home! This two job sucks, but knowing it will pay off by getting me out from under my bills is making it worth it. Squeaks is really showing me her displeasure.....she's peeing in the corner in the kitchen. And I think that Smooch is picking on her again, so o0n my long days, I'm going to put her in the bedroom and shut her in. Give her some peace.

LB got his stitches out the other day...the vet was amazed at how big he's gotten in just about 10 days. He's gained a pound since he was operated on. Never misses a meal, this one....and he'll elbow his sibs out of the way and eat their food too! OINKER! Plus he eats the dry food. But considering the way he runs around here, he needs the fuel! He just spent 30 minutes straight attacking KB...KB finally crawled up high just to get away from him! But soon, there isn't going to be anywhere high enuf to "excape" from the little Terror!

Here's a pic of LB's face now.....I know the vet did a great job, but it would've been nice if he could have gotten his stripes to line up!
