Uh.....after hanging out in the BDSM community for a whole lot of years, about the only conclusion I can come to is that a female led relationship is one in which the person with the "innie" is the dom and the person with the "outie" is the sub. Except in the cases where both partners are female or female-identified, or where the dominant has male bits but is female-identified. Folks, there just ain't a good pigeonhole to put this one in. There is just too much diversity and variability in human relationships. There are so many ways to have a "female led" relationship, and it really depends on the individual personalities involved.

FR, after read thru Okay, sorry for thread-jacking above. Here's a little substantive thinking on the topic . .. . . Shakti beat me to saying much of what I wanted to say in reading thru the first coupla pages of this thread, & did such a great job of it. & LadyNTrainer also put well some essential components of this . . . . . There are differences between what we categorize under masculine & feminine, & outside of some of the obvious physical externalities, we can, with some accuracy, discuss the 'masculinized brain' & the 'feminized brain' . .. . . But the distinct differences are, frankly, kinda minimal when one pulls back for the big picture. Fractional differentials, mostly. & Shakti, airsmoochiehugs to you for mentioning the criterion of significant difference -- within-group variation is greater than between-group variation equals no significant difference between the groups. The external physicalities are surprisingly loosely correlated to 'brain sex', & not just for those transgendered persons over there waves hand, points off into the distance . . . Part of it is that 'masculine' & 'feminine' parse out into hundreds, even thousands or tens of thousands, of affected components which can be evaluated. & darn few persons end up on the end of the continuum in every fem v masc category . . . . & there's significant overlap in the middle of the two overlapping normal curves you get if the distribution of this or that fem / masc characteristic are surveyed . .. . . As many are a blend of masculine & feminine as are holders of the 'purer' either / or characteristics . . . . But the interesting thought that occurred to me as I was thinking thru this thread was that relationships are such complex constructs, existing over lengths of time, possibly involving multiple persons . . . . & thus I suspect that masculine versus feminine personality differences end up being a relatively small proportion of the overall factors impacting any given relationship . . . . . This was an interesting thread, Otter.

Gee - I didn't realize that having an FLR with my gf could get so complicated - so many issues, so much to consider. I like pyroaquatic's summation: listen....follow. It's a simple guideline for me to keep in mind. I'd rather spend more time with gf than mastering complicated concepts. Good discussion, very illuminating!
