Not quite - more like ~26%. Also, he wasn't elected by the people, he was elected by the electorate college.

And the electoral college is made up of ...........................people, citizens

presidential electing body: in the United States, the formal body elected by voters to choose the president and vice president. Although U.S. voters in effect choose a president and vice president, they are formally voting for members of the Electoral College, who make the choice on their behalf.

Then you didn't read the post I was replying to or understand the distinction I was making. Reread it for comprehension before attempting to reply to me.

If you don't know what the electorate college is I suggest a repeat of grade school.

This would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

I suggest you try Google next time before making yourself look foolish.

Given your response I cannot help but imagine you also think the U.S.A. is a democracy.

Like Bush was in 2000, you mean? At least in Obama's case there wasn't a middle class riot stopping recounts in disputed States.

But let's get back to this.

You claim that Obama was only elected by 26% of.......................what?

It's obviously not those who voted so are you including all eligible voters, even those who did not vote?

Or are you taking the population as a whole, including those not registered to vote and those unable to vote?

Almost. The electoral college is there as a check system in case the voting population is retarded - not to just formally vote the president in. It is a job they sadly do not do.

Are you worried about my spelling? Better than being worried about lack of understanding. Now since you appear blind to it. I was replying to the use of citizen - not voters. There is a large difference in the assumption of representation when you look at the whole.

Zenny, you knew exactly what I meant with my post. Now you are just being obnoxious and it is unnecessary. There is not a large difference in the assumption, unless it is based on your view only.
"I" was writing (I started to say "voicing") my opinion, but you would undoubtedly take issue with that wording as well
.
You are making an issue of things that are not only unimportant, but way off topic. Stick with the original OP or start a new thread.

Yeah, kind of.

It's hard to take someone seriously who doesn't know the proper term for what he is arguing about, though we all make spelling mistakes.

It's just a little harder to forgive in someone who condescendingly claims to be teaching everyone a civics lesson.

And if you are doing that you still have not clarified what you mean by citizen.

If you are using the population as a whole you are making a disingenuous argument because a large portion of the population is not eligible to vote.

If you are using all those eligible it is still disingenuous because a large segment of those eligible have never registered.

The same holds true for those who are registered but chose not to vote.

Maybe it was only 28% or Republicans who voted for him?

Open dialogue only works if you are dealing with sane people. That unfortunately is not the case with the leaders of North Korea and Iran.

That's true. And I don't understand why the U.S. should be having any "dealings" with N. Korea or Iran anyway.
When Clinton "dealt" with N. Korea all that happened was that our treasury ended up minus $2B.
Let China deal with N. Korea.
We've had Troops in S. Korea for fifty some odd years now! Enough! Time to bring them home and put them on that Mexican border where they're needed.
As for Iran let Israel or Europe deal with them.
I don't like the idea of "Empire" at all and I certainly don't want my Taxdollars paying for such a foolish idea.

Tazzy, Clinton "gave" them $2B of our money to build a nuclear reactor that didn't produce plutonium that could be used for weapons.

Since Servant didn't answer me I'll ask you the same question.

Wasn't that exactly what Reagan told us about Libya?

4/14/86, Address to the Nation on the Air Strike Against Libya, Oval Office

Colonel Qadhafi is not only an enemy of the United States. His record of subversion and aggression against the neighboring States in Africa is well documented and well known. He has ordered the murder of fellow Libyans in countless countries. He has sanctioned acts of terror in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, as well as the Western Hemisphere. Today we have done what we had to do. If necessary, we shall do it again. It gives me no pleasure to say that, and I wish it were otherwise. Before Qadhafi seized power in 1969, the people of Libya had been friends of the United States. And I'm sure that today most Libyans are ashamed and disgusted that this man has made their country a synonym for barbarism around the world. The Libyan people are a decent people caught in the grip of a tyrant.

Yet, a few years later:

U.S. to renew ties with Libya

May 15, 2006 ... WASHINGTON - The Bush administration said Monday it will restore normal diplomatic relations with Libya for the first time in over a quarter ...
