Oh for cripes sake.

If President Obama has any balls he will tell them "thanks but no thanks," for two reasons:

A) The Nobel Peace Prize became meaningless when they awarded one to a terrorist (Yasser Arafat).

B) He (Obama) hasn't done anything to warrant it anyway.

I would expect to see the prize money donated to a worthy cause, as has happened in the past.

Such awards should be reserved until after someone has left office in my view (when an overall judgement of their time in office could be made). The Nobel prize committee should think long and hard about why such an award couldn't be handed out four or eight years from now. It just undermines the legitimacy of the award as Obama hasn't really done anything more than any other President has yet. Talking to Russia? Well every President has asked for a new relationship with Russia after taking office so what else?

We all deserve a Nobel Peace Prize if its based on intentions, generally speaking we all have the very best intentions in mind whenever we set out to do anything. Said another way, there are many scenarios in which this could potentially blow up in the committee's face.

Admittedly the Nobel committee has acted strangely at times, and this is certainly more of a pat on the back for intentions than results (Although I think it a good thing that ovatures towards better diplomatic relations have been made and certain talks scheduled it certainly isn’t a resolution to problems but rather a step towards resolution). Still, it is a nobel prize and having it given to an American reflects well upon us, at least as much as being snubbed by the IOC reflects badly upon us. In short, it’s a nice pat on the ass for America and I don’t see any downside to it.

Frankly I’m shocked. I was sure that our bretheren on the right would be at least happy about an American receiving this commendation. I thought that they would say “While I may disagree with many of his policies I am glad, as an American, to see our president honored.” The fact that there is such negative response to this purely innocuous award absolutly is unexpected. Perhaps the open minded rationality of those to the right of our President’s position is lessening somewhat on this issue.

What I find interesting, is people are blaming O'bama, for winning the award.. Even to accuse (in a Fox news sort of way) him of bribing his way to victory.

Wow, I mean I agree that this prize has lost it's meaning, but I'm not going to find fault with someone simply because they won the thing. Talk about blaming the winner. Just cause the Nobel committee thinks "PEACE" is worth honoring, O'bama has/did for the last several years and in the election make it clear that he wanted to talk with other countries instead of bombing them. One would think this is a fresh new idea for the USA.

I didn't accuse them of anything. I just suggested that there is a possible appearance of such activity... or at the very least something else going on behind the obvious. He was nominated less than 2 weeks into his term, and has won based on what???

Congrats to him on winning.

Here's a chart of the dollar. I'm seeing massive dips before Obama became president... Hell, I lived it, because I went to Europe mid 2007, and felt I was being bent over against my will, the dollar was so useless.

Bill Clinton, though I loved the President, had his share of troubles; some of which Obama has not exhibited. Orin Hatch might be onto something, or maybe it's time Conservative American politicians took the hint, and began acting more like the the christians they purport to be. M
