That is a bit more than the imbalance from your population being four times the size of ours and only the Star Trek and Doctor Who fans can account for, true enough.
Whiskey is an Irish innovation that the Scots dumbed down for mass consumption: in this case the Irish were Tod Rundgren and the Scots were David Bowie. (I think the Chinese actually invented the stuff, but fuck knows how it got to ireland from there.)
There's a Scots distillery that are making gin by adding botanicals to poteen* while they wait a decade for their first proper batch to mature. Now gin is very definitely an English drink, but I will give the Scots gin a go to see how it compares to the proper stuff.
Beiber is never 35, so he ain't on us. Look at the little turd: he's the very model of a millennial whose mum should have hit him more often when he was a kid, FFS.

*(What you call moonshine, which uses an Irish rather than a Scottish name over here: maybe the Scots aren't fool enough to drink it)

We don't drink coffee, and yet here in my little town our 'mall', which has two floors, and literally takes a grand total of five minutes to walk around, has 2-3 costa, 1 starbucks, at least 2 other coffee shops, and then places on the food section where you can also buy coffee. That's not counting the costa, neros, and multiple other coffee shops outside. My town has nearly as many coffee shops as pubs, and we are known as one of the best towns to come to for a pub crawl

As for the little Beiber shite, nope, we're not taking any responsibility for that one.

I'm not sure that the Starbucks shit counts as coffee anyway: get a latte in there and you can barely taste any coffee through the sugared milk. (I mean: WTF? I want sugar in my coffee, I'll ask for it.) Costa's a bit better on that level.

Since I find that British influence in Canada is still very strong, it is not a stretch to put forward the theory that Bieber is the result of some mad genetic experiment conducted by British Intelligence as some villainous plot to regain Great Britain's lost empire.

As for the disparity in population being used to justify the lower imports of the drink of the gods, I have been in a number of pubs on that lunatic asylum island, and excess seems to be a national pass time.

Along with driving on the wrong side of the road.

Or are you talking about the amount some people drink in pubs rather than the number of pubs that can be found?

Well great. Now my knee hurts and I want Starbucks.

I admit, every Sunday I spend a good part of the day in the kitchen prepping meals for the week. I usually kind of grumble about it, because it's "unfair" and such a "hardship" that I have to do this instead of just making sandwiches for lunch and ordering pizza for dinner. But now here I am, with the day dedicated to resting my body, and all I want to do is go cook something.

I admit we received an email today to call a potential landlord to view his house😍😍😍

I admit it would be a 5 bedroom house and has got an incredible large garden and other lovely stuff...

I admit I think I would love to move in there and hope we will get it...though I keep my feet on the ground to avoid getting too disappointed when not...

I admit my husband will call him tomorrow to arrange a viewing😊😊😊

Whilst I agree with the Starbucks coffee being naff, it also kinda serves you right for wanting crap in your coffee in the first place. I mean a latte, seriously man, drink it black like a normal* Human.

Coffee in general. Don't know if it's just a UK thing, or even the people I've met, but I've never met anybody who drinks their coffee black who doesn't take a load of sugar in it. Obviously you and n&p are a bit more purist than they are about your brews.
(And, just for the record, I'd rather have an au lait with just a small touch of milk in it than a latte, but you know what these chains are like: you'd probably have more luck asking the barrista for a blow job than asking them to put a small amount of milk in an espresso...)

Not a purist at heart, that's for sure. I'd probably love to have sugar in my black coffee. But the decision has been made for me, so I just got used to it.

(Ironically, I'm drinking a coffee with cream - no sugar - as I'm typing this. We're experimenting with a bit more dairy in our lives right now. But still no sugar.)

16th century pubs deserve to be listed...
I rarely drink tea and I only drink coffee daily as a latte.
Hubby only drinks tea...I used to drink it black, but now I like it creamy, hot and strong.

Balfarg, Scotland: The Balfarg henge is a part of a larger prehistoric ceremonial complex in Fife, Scotland. grooved-ware pottery found at the site dates to around 2900 BC. Some of the vessels may have been used to hold black Henbane (Hyoscyamus niger) which is a poison but also a powerful hallucinogen. This discovery is briefly explored in the journal Antiquity in the article ' The use of henbane as a hallucinogen at Neolithic ritual sites: a re-evaluation' (1)

Carrowmore, Ireland. (Site 4) - Dated about 4,600 BC, contains the remains of a passage-tomb which may be the earliest in the country. Such an early date, however, is controversial. This tomb is one of the smallest complete sites in the cemetery and produced the remains of over 65 fragments of antler pins, including seven pieces with mushroom-shaped heads, as well as over 30 kilos of cremated human bone.

Skara Brae, Orkneys: Hallucinogenic Alcohol: 5,000 year old traces of cereal-based fermented alcohol - laced with hemlock and henbanewere discovered near Skara Brae in the Neolithic metropolis of Orkney. (Gourlay, 2001)

However important, alcohol is nowhere near the full story of induced Neolithic consciousness change. In many cultures, psychoactive drugs and their effects are viewed as vehicles for making contact with other worlds, in particular those of the ancestors in the context of temple-centred ceremony. Rudgley (1999, p.137-141) has proposed cannabis and/or opium as likely candidates in the early western Neolithic and a growing body of opinion points in the same direction. (Devereux, 1997: Sherratt, 1997; Thomas, J., 1998) The Orkney brew described above, it will be remembered, was blended with henbane and hemlock. Henbane, bearer of the trance-inducing, hallucinatory (and extremely toxic) drug Hyoscyamine, is one of what Sherratt (1996) terms “the Saturnine herbs”. Sherratt recounts how during the 1980’s henbane was recovered from carbonised Neolithic porridge, eaten from Grooved Ware pottery in the context of a mortuary structure, Balfarg/Balbirnie in Fife, Scotland. Discovery in the 1920's of three burial chambers at the Jersey La Houghe Bie site adds weight to Sherratt's thesis. David Keys reports that the chambers "...contained 21 pottery vessels marked with a burnt, resin-like material. Archaeologists believed that this was from drugs, possibly opium or hashish." (6)
