Sounds good, I just moved to Hawaii, and am restarting my bussiness here. Be a few months before I have enough dependable, exploited workers to take a vacation though. But I am making sure I never take public transport agaion, so I can help the Planet.

Yup, and Im quite certain that my client in Hawaii wont mind me expensing the cost of a private jet to meetings. Its for the good of the polar bears that are floating on the icebergs toward New Zealand. Obviously thats just a side trip on the way to Maui.

luckydawg -> RE: Climategate (11/25/2009 2:29:35 PM)

Damn the polar bears are really wandering far these days. But they are a hurting species, that the earth is warming (long term, has been for 15,000ish years) is true (its the man made part that is debatable), and thier habitat is shrinking fast. They will probably adapt. They are already begining to mix with grizzlies.

My mom says it's pro'bly b'cause the boat leans to the left, I don't know what that means, she told me it's grownup stuff.

RML has been hired as his ambassdor at large, since he knows that taking private jets is more fuel/carbon efficient than jumping on a commercial flight. And of course we are all going to have secret service protection so we wont have much choice.

No, what I said was fuel/carbon efficiency is based on the size aircraft, altitude flown, trip length, and other factors as I stated before.

Hannity did not specify what his fuel burn statistics were based on and it can make a huge difference in the argument.

With his G-IV example the fuel burn can easily vary by 50% or more depending on the altitude flown and the total weight on board, which is mostly fuel.

But you want to back Hannity's Gore-bashing despite the fact his argument is flawed and persist in arguing something you don't seem to have any knowledge about.

Rml, if not enough people buy tickets they use a smaller plane.
You can spin this all day. But your not any good at it. What you are arguing is that Public transportation doesn't save fuel or reduce carbon, which is nonsense

No, they don't.

You don't shift around airplanes willy-nilly based on how many tickets were sold that day.

luckydawg -> RE: Climategate (11/25/2009 11:51:46 PM)

Look I already said you were right, there is no savings in fuel or carbon emmissions by using public transportation.......what else do you want?

A perfect denigration of Al Gore - deservedly reduced to foolish, juvenile, meaningless banter. I sure hope you are right and what Gore is doing, or what he says in his role as messiah is treated as if it was said or worn by a 'Britney'. After all it turns out everything he represents as 'truth' was similarly valid.

Silence8 -> RE: Climategate (11/26/2009 7:16:39 AM)

As far as I can tell, America is one of the few, if not the only major country, that continues to treat climate change as a debatable issue. Non-believers are in the minority, something like 20 to 30%. The rest of the world seems to take the phenomenon as a given, especially in the Global South, where the effects are already scientifically verifiable. Australia is one such example, and they're one of the major emitters, thus possessing, like the US, greater incentive to deny.

Notably, the Chinese also believe. Again, the debate's basically over.

Also, if we ask scientists who specialize in this area, they also seem to agree. Is there evidence to the contrary?

Moonhead -> RE: Climategate (11/26/2009 7:26:49 AM)

Not really, but there are a few emails about how to present the data to make the thesis more clear, and a lot of resentment aimed at Al Gore, so obviously the whole argument's bollocks for a certain type of right leaning American.

You're right, the debate is basically over - the data was manipulated and the entire religion of global warming is a fraud.

I'm sure that won't stop the special interest groups from trying to make money from it.

In a few months I'm sure the faithful will find another god and message to adopt which will take on similar "crisis status" benefiting the next grandstanding, get rich, Al Gore type guru/ messiah; hang in there - maybe, in a tribute to the '70's global cooling will make a comeback.

Hacked E-Mails Fuel Climate Change Skeptics
By ANDREW C. REVKIN
Published: November 20, 2009

Hundreds of private e-mails and documents hacked from a computer server at a British university are causing a stir among global warming skeptics, who say they show that climate scientists conspired to overstate the case for a human influence on climate change.

The e-mails, attributed to prominent American and British climate researchers, include discussions of scientific data and whether it should be released, exchanges about how best to combat the arguments of skeptics, and casual comments — in some cases derisive — about specific people known for their skeptical views. Drafts of scientific papers and a photo collage that portrays climate skeptics on an ice floe were also among the hacked data, some of which dates back 13 years.

In one e-mail exchange, a scientist writes of using a statistical “trick” in a chart illustrating a recent sharp warming trend. In another, a scientist refers to climate skeptics as “idiots.”

Some skeptics asserted Friday that the correspondence revealed an effort to withhold scientific information. “This is not a smoking gun, this is a mushroom cloud,” said Patrick J. Michaels, a climatologist who has long faulted evidence pointing to human-driven warming and is criticized in the documents.

Climategate: the final nail in the coffin of 'Anthropogenic Global Warming'?
James Delingpole

If you own any shares in alternative energy companies I should start dumping them NOW. The conspiracy behind the Anthropogenic Global Warming myth (aka AGW; aka ManBearPig) has been suddenly, brutally and quite deliciously exposed after a hacker broke into the computers at the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit (aka Hadley CRU) and released 61 megabites of confidential files onto the internet. (Hat tip: Watts Up With That)

When you read some of those files – including 1079 emails and 72 documents – you realise just why the boffins at Hadley CRU might have preferred to keep them confidential. As Andrew Bolt puts it, this scandal could well be “the greatest in modern science”. These alleged emails – supposedly exchanged by some of the most prominent scientists pushing AGW theory – suggest:

Conspiracy, collusion in exaggerating warming data, possibly illegal destruction of embarrassing information, organised resistance to disclosure, manipulation of data, private admissions of flaws in their public claims and much more.

Here's another stake in the heart of the Global Warming monster - a new book, reviewed by Delingpole in the Spectator in the UK.

The fourth page of the article is especially amusing to us right wing Neanderthals.

I hope all you Greenies will at least read the review.

LOL, "misinformation", "propaganda". Hey, he forgot "outright fraud!"
I wonder how much money these charletons ripped off the U.S. government for? They're probably cowering like rats, waiting for federal officers to raid their offices.
Gee, so much for "cap and trade."

hazze -> RE: Climategate (11/26/2009 4:14:24 PM)

It seems straightforward to me.

Both sides overstate their case, misuse data, sensationalise dubious facts, play to the media etc,etc,etc!

There’s an element of the green lobby that approach the issue with religious zeal, they've merged facts, semi facts and down right lies and melded all into one doctrine we must obey to the letter or be very selfish and bad people.

There’s also a bunch of antis who will cling onto any last grain of hope to avoid the inevitable, 1000 facts for global warming versus 1 fact against. They'll grab that one fact like a dying man and wave it around as if they've slain global warming.

Humans are having an effect on the climate. That effect is far more complex than just CO2 emissions.
The Climate is also a subject to millions of other variables, and over tens of thousands of year’s changes significantly without human intervention. To stick our heads in the sand because some rich dudes in Texas want to fudge the debate and ditch it on the next generation is dangerously short-sighted.
However I am also not convinced that a lot of the green lobby is able to tackle the debate in a mature and subjective way. They seem more concerned with spreading panic and pushing their own pet projects which are often bad science. "I am green therefore my ideas about the environment are automatically best even though I haven't thought them out and refuse to entertain the idea that anything I have suggested my have flaws as everyone that disagrees with me are evil"..

Just my opinion.

Hacked climate emails called a "smear campaign

Three leading scientists who on Tuesday released a report documenting the accelerating pace of climate change said the scandal that erupted last week over hacked emails from climate scientists is nothing more than a "smear campaign" aimed at sabotaging December climate talks in Copenhagen.

"We're facing an effort by special interests who are trying to confuse the public," said Richard Somerville, Distinguished Professor Emeritus at Scripps Institution of Oceanography and a lead author of the UN IPCC Fourth Assessment Report.

......CRU Vice-Chancellor of Research Trevor Davies responded in an official statement: "There is nothing in the stolen material which indicates that peer-reviewed publications by CRU, and others, on the nature of global warming and related climate change are not of the highest-quality of scientific investigation and interpretation."

Michael Mann, co-author of the Copenhagen Diagnosis and lead author of the UN IPCC Third Assessment Report, blamed skeptics for taking the personal emails out of context.

"What they've done is search through stolen personal emails—confidential between colleagues who often speak in a language they understand and is often foreign to the outside world. Suddenly, all these are subject to cherry picking," he said.

They've turned "something innocent into something nefarious," Mann added.

The vital point being left out, he said, is that "regardless of how cherry-picked," there is "absolutely nothing in any of the emails that calls into the question the deep level of consensus of climate change."

This is a "smear campaign to distract the public," said Mann. "Those opposed to climate action, simply don't have the science on their side," he added.

PaHunk, I think you're onto something there.
Didn't they try that "KYOTO" scam a few years back? You know, the one that was rejected 100 to 1 by the senate?
