I'd like to 50-70 lbs., but I'd really like to lose 10-15 inches from my waist & about 5-10 ins off my hips.

I believe I'm 5'6 and at 160 pounds now. I've lost 30 since last year, and I'm still striving for the last 20 by the end of January.
I'm also helping a friend with her weight loss goals.

Sounds like my cup of tea... i need to loose weight so bad. Stress from moving, financial problems, deaths to pets, betrayal, relationship problems over the last 2 years have made me increase in ways i dont like.... need to loose about 80 lbs to get into "normal" range again.

I've been working at this for a year now and gotten rid of about 45# but I still have a ways to go to get to being totally happy. Not exactly sure what the 'okay, I am happy now' number will be. It is a long road, but very well worth it. I am feeling so much better and my horses are much less grumpy when they see me hauling out the saddles.

I have RELEASED 80lbs in the last 1.5 years and am working..
I should say.. ya struggling with 6o more..

I go up 20 down 20...I do the blk- white all or nothing thing.

I went ahead & signed up for SparkPeople as MistressHolly. There are all sorts of teams(groups) that we join to help motivate & encourage us, even a couple bdsm ones. We can also create our own if we want. Would anyone be interested in that? If so, any ideas for a team name?

I'm so proud of all of you!

Back a few years ago, my husband left me. I said I lost 190 lbs in one day!

After he left, I got my ass up and started walking. I lost about 35 lbs in 6 months.

My highest weight was 210 (size 18) and now I am about 150 lbs size 6.

So, I know the struggle. It's been 5 years and I've kept it off. I hate exercise, but I keep doing it because it works.

I really believe you have to find what works for your body. For some, overall low calorie is fine, for others low fat works. For me, it is low processed-carbs. And I'm always watching. Watching doesn't mean denying myself every time, just moderation.

Some personal tips:

Try drinking a glass of water instead of a snack (at least it puts it off for a while)
Ask yourself if you are really hungry or just bored or emotional.
Schedule a treat. Or allow dessert on weekends. Just don't always say no or you'll obsess about what it is you want.
Plan in advance what you will eat when a craving hits.
Set realistic, small goals.
Reward yourself (non food rewards) when you reach them.
When you reach your goal- DON'T return to old eating habits.

Ohhh and hejira, you are an inspiration! THank you for the tips. I have a tip too. *Of course I go to the gym which helps me a lot. I can't follow a decent food play unless I'm exercising. I have my own personal treat - tea. I get all kinds of flavors - almond, chai, bengal spice, mint, earl gray, vanilla, etc. It is my personal little dessert / snack in the evenings.
