O was far from romantic in the end, she became a possession

but you need to read the far inferior sequel "return to the chateau" to get the full effect

I see it has highly romantic... and highly boring!

but maybe because I know the difference between portraying the journey of a slave being possed and to the actual doing of it.

for me O was the beginning of my awakening , in the 60's there wasn't much around

stories have awakened many a person's desires and thoughts. But I would caution people don't confuse stories and fantasies with their own realities.

fantasies should be measured against the yard stick of reality

why not just enjoy them as they are.... just like stories. Instead... Measure our Reality of yesterday with our reality of today and work to making it a better reality tomorrow.

and let Fantasies and stories be inspirational in our efforts to build on our realities.

I have never been interested in the Story of O. It's always seemed highly romanticized for me. While she ends up a possession, it is romantic in the same way gothic romances are. Which are also far from interesting to me.

Why should they be just because that is how you do things? A fantasy is simply that for me. A trip down imagination lane that I enjoy for what it is and then come back to reality when I'm done without care in the world for how it measures up against the real world.

You didn't differentiate anywhere. Details can be key and you have a habit of leaving them out, no offense intended.

Just as an aside, the sub training/teaching the dom has been mentioned in some threads in Ask a Sub/Slave and there are plenty who feel that they couldn't do it because it would be topping from the bottom. Obviously, we don't agree. [:)]

I admit that I haven't search for it. I used to search threads for topics, but found that often I would read and then want to add something and ressurecting ancient posts is not something I like to do.

I don't think it is but I guess that goes without saying! [;)]

We agree on that point.

I honestly think that Valyraen wouldn't have tried this sort of thing without a partner in his life who was an influencing factor, simply because (as he said) he's not the sort of person to randomly try things. Despite my adversion to food I think I dislike, I am. So I tend to be the one who goes "Let's give this shot, we won't know till we try!".

Now he explores more on his own, the how and when he controls me and excerising his sadism where I definately don't want him to. Like over my cookies damn it... [:'(]

My point, using the two of you as an example (which I hope you didn't mind) was that for a relationship to be successful, everyone involved needs to learn what makes the other happy. Obviously, you and Valyraen have managed to do that very well. As you said, many subs might think that it is "topping from the bottom," but I think if someone wants to they can make just about anything seem to be topping from the bottom. It seems that even though that learning curve is on both sides, the more popular view is that the bottom should never be "teaching" the top. Doesn't matter that it has to happen for the relationship to work in some shape or form, we have to call it something different.
