Actually, I wasn't thinking of you, Aswad, but since you volunteered your name... I wouldn't have put you down as a misogynist though. It's surprising.

And of course, everyone is a big man behind their computer screen, most of these guys would never have the nerve to ask or say the things they do to a woman face to face.

Deliver horrible jokes to an audience, face to face? You're right, I would probably freeze up.
Or smile in a really adorable way to try to make you forget how horrible the joke was.

Weekend warriors aren't a new phenomenon on any board, for any group.
Absent the human touch, the internet becomes an unfiltered pipe:
It shows some of how people are inside, just like alcohol.
Makes one appreciate offline for its restraint, no?

Health,
al-Aswad.

I'm new to the forums, and maybe its just the small sample size but I see some disturbing trends where posters seem to have a strong misogynistic leaning.

There's a part of me that thinks they are merely trolls seeking reaction, and if that's how they enjoy filling the emptiness in their lives the more power to them.

But...there is a part of me that wonders if some who truly hate women see BDSM as an outlet for their anger?

It lends credence to some articles I've read by the anti-BDSM crowd that all dominants are misogynists (these articles exclusively attribute dominance to males).  But we all know that's bullshit.

Is this a new phenomenon, Where places like CM have become venues in which misogyny can be worn like a badge?

From my observations, it's not just here at CM. People all over the world are getting real crazy these days.  Hold onto your hats! lol.

Actualy I see very little genuine misogyny. It usualy isn't tolerated.

Sadly, msandry is welcomed with open arms. Funny that.

I don't believe it is. For the record, just in case it was misconstrued, Jeff and I were bantering above and it was quite obvious.

I'm not fond of wanker men, but I don't hate them. Hating them would give them too much power.

I totally adore gentlemen though! And a few bad boys apparently ;-)

Jeffff -> RE: Misogyny and BDSM (12/29/2009 4:46:46 PM)

There are about 1000 easy jokes there. Even tough it hurts me to do so, I am going to respond seriously.

I don't feel a lot of misandry either. I do see a lot of people rubbing each other the wrong way. That's to be expected. Not everyone is for everyone.

When someone hates me, I get the feeling they don't like who I am. I don't feel disliked for being a man.

A mighty fine fucking specimen , I might add!

Some are, some are not.

Perhaps. That's not always the case, however. Some are a product of their interactions who use it as a defense mechanism because they've been fucked around by some gash one too many times.

I don't know if it's new. You see, it's not popular. Much like BDSM way back when, it's 'under ground.' You see, there are some who are just trolls who like to throw a fit. And there are also those who see the American male being pussified day in and day out and simply decide that they won't be.

It's because chauvanism, misogyny and some aspects of 'uber domness' overlap. You can have any one of the three without the other two, but sometimes you meet someone who has all three or some other combination therein. It varies from person to person.

kittinSol -> RE: Misogyny and BDSM (12/29/2009 4:49:18 PM)

You're a shameless trollop, Jeffff.

I wasn't referring to this thread in particular. Misandry, however, is very prevalent. It's dressed up, glossed over and laughed about, but it's there.

Let's address that first word, for a second. Shall we? Would you say all men are gentlemen, regardless of their actions and such? I wouldn't. I think many would agree that not all men are gentlemen.

However, suggest for one fraction of a second that not all women are 'ladies' and you get a dog pile of feminists jumping down your throat, calling you sexist, chauvanist, etc.

Funny that.

I seldom see a word more misused than "misogyny".

You surprised me a bit, too. I wouldn't have put me down as one, either.

But, then, I'm just a guy, so what do I get to say about what I think, feel and so forth, right?

Clearly, it's better represented by you. Granted, from what I've read as a regular poster, there's been a fairly significant consensus for some time that the points you're forwarding are actually incorrect. And I would tend to assume that there might be more to gain on the side of truth by linking the last page of the FAQ thread than to summarize beliefs that you don't hold and which the people who supposedly hold them don't actually hold, either.

If I read LaTigresse correctly, I'm inclined to agree with her.

As for the rest I have to say... I just... sigh.

Health,
al-Aswad.

Yep, how dare you express your 'male' opinion. You must be a chauvanist, sexist neanderthal. /sarcasm

[8|] That was sad [:D] .

I'm the mother of a son: what the male half of the specie thinks is as important to me as what my sisters think.

Jeffff -> RE: Misogyny and BDSM (12/29/2009 4:59:12 PM)

You are one smooth motherfucking misogynist dude!
