Incidentally, there was a thread on feminism a while back (in the "Ask a Mistress" forum, no less), where some Gor believers (men, mostly) felt not qualms whatsoever about berating dominant women for their opinions. I know that everyone's vision is colored by their perspective but really, if your take on that thread was "The Goreans came in and started attacking women" then you got it SO wrong it's not even funny.

See, this is where your own uninformed hatred calls out to be lamented & euthanized. The idiots misrepresenting Gor are not teaching you about "Gorean ideals". They are simply misrepresenting Gor. As the passage I shared from the books clearly shows, the author does NOT, in those books, display any hatred for women whatsofuckingever.

The real problem here is that you are relying solely on the misinformation of fools to define "Gorean ideals" for you rather than getting the information directly yourself on what those ideals might really be.

Willful ignorance & the naturally resulting xenophobia are the burdens of the person attempting to interact under their weight, not the bystanders witnessing the struggle.

By all means smack people for double standards. Just make sure you know what the professed standard is. There are a lot of people who will claim to adhere to some standard in their lives, without any basis for it, and a lot of people who have got a different standard by a similar name. Religion comes to mind as an example of the same thing.

You might want to bear in mind that a lot of people who claim to be Gorean, yet fail to earn the respect of others who make the same claim over in the section of the board you stay out of, have chosen to frequent the rest of the board to avoid having their ideas called into question by others who are familiar with the grounds upon which they have based, or claim to have based, their ideas. While it would smack a bit much of "one true wayism" to purport that the Gorean subforum is the only group here that has people with a legitimate claim to the label, it has been my experience that most of the people there have reflected views and are willing to change their views if one is able to adequately argue that there are errors in their views. That's generally not nearly as often been the case for those who claim the label yet refrain from participating there.

In any case, it might be a good idea to specify which group you're referring to in a given instance.

For all I know, whoever you have in mind may have needed a good smack.

Kittin here is the link to that thread before the cries of evil mean feminists were threatening to shoot people and callling Elisabella a Nazi. The whole thing was ugly, and poor Elisabella the helpless was quite free wheeling with the ad hominems as it were. I have always advocated the worst mysogynysts are fucking women themselves. Not all, of course, *those* ones.
