I was gone for a while. I really had nothing to do with moderation. I just got bored.

Domiguy told me he was invited back, so I returned to watch the crash and burn...:)

Since my return I have seen posters going BAT SHIT on other posters, yet they are still posting. I think this is a good thing. Incidentally, none of the was D.G.

I don't know what caused an apparent shift in philosophy but I think letting people vent and loose their temper is a good thing. Just because one person calls another a stupid motherfucker doesn't make them bad..... or necessarily wrong.

Most people can find a way to work it out among themselves or ignore each other. I would encourage the fine folks who operate Collar Me to let it continue.

Jeff...

Who is really tired of serious posting

Yes and no.  I'm all for people expressing themselves, but when they really have to resort to calling someone a bitch, a cunt, or an asshole, and it's not all in fun, I'm not sure I'm thrilled.

I still think that people should have some sort of civility.  If you think an opinion is bullshit, then call it bullshit.  It can be done without going too far on the name calling.

I think that given a chance, it will find it's own level. Things will even out, and a genuine asshole will either be ignored by al, or go away.

In the interest of full diclosure, I have met D.G.  Not only is he a really good guy, but we are now hop-bonded.

Probably the moderators are just on holiday perhaps?

I've not noticed any change of policy that says calling people names is now fine.

It took me too long to realise that we come here to talk to one another and so what is the real purpose of abusing a relationship you depend on for discussion? If all the people on one side of the political spectrum left it would be very stale.

There are a couple out there right now that seem to be very good examples of their own level.  Which may or may not explain their current situations.

Jefff, you're right. I think they've found a pretty good balance. I've seen what really poor moderation can do to a discussion forum - Bondage.com used to have a terrific Politics section, and it's totally useless now. Just the same half dozen posters calling each other assholes in 20 different threads a day. I think Collarme used to swing too far in the other direction, but now they seem to have found a pretty damned good middle ground. I like it, and I hope they let it settle into this range.

Because some people really are assholes. And sometimes poor self esteem is nature's way of telling them so.

It seems to me that everyone here is required to be an adult, and as an adult is capable of using the hide button and the block button if someone says things they don't like.

I agree 100% with Lady Pact that it is best to be polite, or to say "you're acting like ___" instead of "you are a ___."  However, I guess I'm concerned about making rules about that.  Saying that humiliation-speak is not allowed on a BDSM web site seems problematic to me.  So I guess I'd prefer allowing posters to flame other posters, instead of a climate where good people with sadistic senses of humor are concerned about whether they are going to be moderated yet again.  The ultraflamers will eventually get hidden and ignored by everyone.

I don't think pedophilia, bestiality, racial slurs, publication of personal location information, or attempts to buy and sell illegal drugs should be tolerated at all.  Those things seem dangerous to the site, and I would hope that anyone who cares about this site would report such posts immediately.

My two cents.

Care to disclose how big his ....... errrrr nevermind, I'll just go have a cold shower

My only concern is that there has been a lot of incredibly personal and downright mean comments made about posters in a couple of threads recently and if it makes me uncomfortable reading it I can only imagine how it makes the person it was directed to feel.

The reduced moderation is a good thing I feel however it means that I skim over a LOT of posts by particular people now

Yup. I wondered where you went Jefff. I wonder how that went down, inviting domiguy back I would like the transcripts.

Glad you are both back hopping around together.

There was some kind of static hiss going around about the time he was escorted out that he's a white guy.

Is that true?

Sanity, have you ever viewed domiguy's profile?

I guess I don't assume pink fairies or animated dogs are talking to me.  Just saying.

I'm glad they seem a little more relaxed now...I very seldom call people names...but I have been called many. But I understand some of the subjects we talk about are very volatile or even personal. This can cause anger and the only way to express this anger is with words on a forum.

I have found many people speak with anger on the spur of the moment but soon cool down and become reasonable and even apologetic if given the chance.

Another problem is this type of media where body language, which is very important in true communication, is of course missing. This means there are many misunderstanding when in true life saying a word with a particular look means something quite different than saying the same word in a chat room.

So bottom line I hope those I’ve pissed off forgive me because I sure hold no grudges and I’m glad they ...or me... have not been sanctioned.

As for the reason I’m sure it is competition with other sites and they were loosing too many members by their too, in my estimation, arbitrary discipline.

Butch

Damn I keep forgetting to click on the right post...sorry jeffff not aimed at you
