Well, I had to go and read the other thread and see what all the hullabaloo was about.

I'm not jewish. I'm a white christian.

Everything will usually come down to the time and place. Sometimes a bit of irreverence can lighten a sad occassion. But as was discussed in the other thread about not bringing up certain subjects because some would find them offensive, in all honesty, I think the same thing applies.

There are some around here who will rarely if ever post anything of substance. Instead it is about the sarcasm, the jokes or the stupid remarks. Who really knows why that is? Are they just so lacking in substance themselves? Perhaps they find every subject here that isn't specifically about fucking and sucking shouldn't be on the boards. We will never know, yet everyone quickly learns that there won't be much learned from their posts or to just skip by them.

There are a million subjects that many people think should be "off limits." They are as varied as the people who are offended. Someone here said that black people use the "n" word to increase their self esteem. Actually, they have the miscontrued idea that by taking the word and making it their own makes it less offensive. But it doesn't. It does nothing more than perpetuate the stereotype.

Certainly the time and place for the comments and jokes on the other site were made at an inappropriate time. But likewise was some of the things that were said. I have never understood how anyone believes that they are somehow "better" than the original "jokster" by coming back with insults and wishes for their pain. It makes both just appear ignorant and does nothing to prevent any kind of future incident.

But the problem is more a matter of everyone continuing to urge those people on. If some of these people's comments were laughed at and they weren't encouraged to continue with the behavior, they might have given it a second thought on that thread.

As I said, it all comes down to time and place. But some people seem to think that regardless of the thread subject, it is the stage for them to work out their stand up comedy. Most of the time the comments are infantile or just ignorant. In the end though, everyone who encourages them to continue by commenting back is equally to blame.

Hi Aqua, actually, for some reason, it was not all that tough to watch. I am a big fan of QT, so I think his use of violence is actually so stylized and there is so much humor in the film, it somehow makes it easier to watch, where in other films, I would be cringeing.

I absolutely adored the film, but it is polarizing; you either LOVE it or totally HATE it. The day after I saw it, I usually post on the NYTimes reader reviews and there were over 300 posts, 150 calling it his masterpiece and 150 begging he never make any more movies.

I think I may just have a problem with stylized violence and blood splattering all over the place. It squicks me every time. But if I watch "Defiance", even with all the death and dying, that doesn't bother me.

No one really gives a fuck what some uptight domme has to add to "our" lovely thread.

Actually by blacks using the word "nigga" it has taken a shitload of sting out of the word "nigger." It is now a term used rather commonplace amongst all peoples. It would only be viewed as perpetuating a stereotype by people who cannot grasps the new meaning of the word...For instance, like some tight ass domme.

It has nothing to do with slavery, white supremacy or an ignorant person...Just a term used towards my peeps.

Now as far as something being off limits to humor... What should be considered to be off limits? The holocaust? Why is that?

It is a rather routine event. It happens all of the fucking time. The poor Anne Franks of this world have been found cowering in attics, tepees, The Hotel Rwanda and buildings throughout time whether constructed from stone, clay or concrete. Whether they be Jews, Gypsies, Cambodians, Incan, Bosnian, American Indians, or Vulcans and on and on and on...They have all felt the sting of genocide.

Remember the hit Broadway musical "The Producers?" I can still hum the tune "Springtime for Hitler." How dare they!!!

We humans love to kill each other. It's one of our favorite gigs. The bigger the death toll the grander the time. Whether it be a delicious dip of genocide or mere shadows left by a nuclear bomb or the barbecued charred flesh of Dresdenians we got this affliction that cannot be denied.

It is unspeakable, so lets just ignore it. Fuck off.

A major earthquake measuring 7.0 on the Richter Scale hit Haiti yesterday, with the epicentre 10 miles from the capital Port Au Prince. Thousands are believed to be dead with many more injured and displaced, although as luck would have it, the population is almost entirely black.

The earthquake decimated the area, causing approximately $30 worth of damage, and there was catastrophic damage to hundreds of acres of crops, on which the locals depend for their income, “is the last thing we need right now”, commented a spokesman for the President, “exports of marijuana to the US are vital to pay for our import of weapons for our annual festival of coups and unrest”.

Many locals were woken well before their afternoon mellow had worn off. One resident - a 15-year-old mother of 5 said "It was such a shock, my little Fetnat came running into my bedroom crying. My youngest two, FetnatetBelge and FetnatetInt slept through it all. I was still shaking when I rolled up the next morning".

Apparently though, looting, muggings and car crime carried on as normal.

The Red Cross has so far managed to ship 4,000 boxes of Rizzla papers and 70,000 bongs to the area to help the stricken locals.

Rescue workers are still searching through the rubble and have found large quantities of personal belongings, which include benefit books, US passports, ammunition, and cigarette filters.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

This appeal is to raise money for food and clothing parcels for those unfortunate to be caught up in this disaster. Clothing is most sought after. Items most needed include national dress such as baseball caps, bras, thongs and tracksuits.

Food parcels may be harder to come by, but are needed all the same. Required foodstuffs include all forms of high salt and sugar snack foods, (chicken flavoured preferred).

If you would prefer to donate money, 25c buys a biro for filling in compensation forms; $5.00 buys chips and fizzy drinks for a family of 9.

PLEASE do not send tents for shelter, as the sight of posh housing is unfair on the population of the neighbouring areas

Here is the dealio. When you iz white and you see white folk acting all hillbilly and shit, what you see is a part of yourself. You get embarassed by their actions... I believe the term in German is called "Schadenfreude." Where you are embarrassed by the actions of another. I was dating a woman that called it "frempsing." So me and mine have adopted that term.

When you see a dumb mezican or Negro it just doesn't resonate in quite the same way. Cuz everyone cares more about their "own." It's a simple fact of life. So, when you see the toothless white crystal meth whore you still can see a tiny little bit of yourself within that person. Whether it be the thin nose or the freckles you can't deny that she is sort of an distant blurred extension of yourself. Hence the feeling of the "fremps."

Don't you feel uncomfortable when you see that ignorant Asian person on television? Never mind, never could happen it's an impossibility. Those fuckers are all brilliant. God how I hate those fucking curve wreckers. I believe in the last census it was discovered that 98.2% of Asians have an engineering degree, that 1% are virtuosos at some type of a stringed instrument and the remaining .08% have retired young after creating some new website or video game.

hillbilly's and po' white trash. Is there really anything worse?

Actually Schadenfreude (and I love the word) means the delight that one takes in the misfortune of others.

When I started this thread I was hoping to see that people would say they laugh at things that just "aren't right"/

I got almost none of that back. That leads me to believe that I am either fucked in the head (always a possibility)
or that folks here are somewhat less than honest with themselves, and perhaps others.

I saw outrage yet all those jokes told in bad taste still make the rounds. It isn't because no one is telling them.
