for the other Dominants and whatever

how do you feel when you open a female profile and they insist you write them a literary masterpiece?

i mean i put everything in my profile and journal so i write a few lines of wit and suggest they see my profile

is that so terrible or must i submit to their demands?

I hardly ever open a female profile.

If someone wrote me a literary masterpiece, I would be flattered and impressed.

In other words, since the information is already available, you're not willing to make more of an investment?

When you write a profile or journal entry, you are talking to the masses in a certain extent.  None of it is particularly communicating with the person you are contacting.  They are forms of one way communication and not necessarily interaction.  Not to mention, profiles and journals, in general, are only a written form of what you think.  There's very little on how that applies to someone else, or how someone else meshes with those ideas.  It's more like handing someone a script and telling them they are reading for a particular part.

When someone e-mails me and writes me 1 sentence e-mails its clear to me that they are not capable of sharing much. I quickly get bored.

Regardless of whether its a masterpiece or not if someone cant share who they are with you, its doubtful they are going to be able to share much more in person. I do expect someone to have something to say or we are just not going to match up.

Perhaps some men should think of this when they send a 2 sentence e-mail, have no filled out profile and no picture. What exactly do you expect us to get excited about and what reason would we have to be interested in you?

As far as submitting to our "demands".

I would say if you want to get to know someone be worthy of being someone they would want to know.

You really dont have to do anything you dont want to. But if you really expect someone to fall at your feet for the relationship you want without developing a relationship first, I have some swamp land for sale.

Yup.

I read profiles and when I read them, I look at them to see how I fit into their lives and I'll talk to them about that. I expect them to read mine and talk to me about how they could fit into my life as well.

You want to use the approach that is going to get you the type of woman you want. That might mean sticking to your current course and being patient or it might mean changing your approach. If you decide to change, I don't regard that as submitting to anything but simply giving another approach a shot.

When people email me I am wondering why they selected my profile from all the others to do so. While I am interested in their journal and profile as a way to gauge my interest in them, I am more interested in what they found compelling enough about my profile to provoke them to writing me...

One thing I find as a turn off is reading all about a man in their first email. I am interested in how I would fit what they are looking for though...

We can either be interested or interesting... I try to be interested instead of interesting. I am also attracted to people who endeavor to be the same way. So if you want someone to invest time in you (which an email is a way to provoke interest) then you may want to consider taking an interest in that other person....

Just the way I see it

I hate mass mail, like when someone writes one message and sends it to a million people, your 'read my profile' approach is similar.

If someone emails me and tells me to read their profile I think sod that. If the person has chosen to email me then they liked MY profile, they should say why they think we match, just the same as if I email someone I will comment on their profile. To be fair if I email someone about a different issue (say from the boards) and they tell me to read their journal I don't bother either

Also if your journal is too long dont expect someone to read it all. Generally overly long journals/profiles are rubbish and repetitive.

Are the number of words supposed to be impressive or something?    OK.  So, big deal, you wrote out a bunch of your own thoughts.  Throw the manuscript out there that you have created and find out if someone wants to audition for the part.  If it works for you, then you have nothing to complain about.  If it doesn't, you missed out on the opportunity to have actual conversations.

In My opinion, Rule was spot on.

Ah yes, the infamous "read my profile" email. Personally, I don't care if the profile is Pulitzer Prize winning good. If the email doesn't interest me, or say anything aside from "read my profile and get back to me", it gets binned. I'm more interested in how someone expresses himself in conversation than in his profile.

As an aside, osf, I do believe you've referenced your profile and journal on the boards about once a day since you've been here, telling people in threads to go read it instead of actually discussing whatever the point is.
