Beth,

Thanks for the reply. i hope that my use of you was not offensive or bothersome, it was not intended to be so. Because you and i are different to some degree on our respective submission, would it be possible to ask you a couple of questions offline so as not to sidetrack this thread?

Also wanted to say that it makes me glad to "watch" Merc and your relationship on here. Thank you both for your openness and honesty.

I guess it all boils down to your perception...I know for a fact that these people we call doormats are some of the best human beings I know..

If any of you happen to know some...Please send them my way...I've got a large house and they can all live here

Can't have enough good:
Employees
Friends
Slaves
And so on....

I have to wonder why people even need a word like that to define themselves against...as if that somehow makes them better if they can separate from it. When in truth it may be what some need to embrace inside to get to where they want to be. Definitely not in all cases but maybe in some.

Surely we all can see a few that might fit into a "doormat category" and seem completely ecstatic over it. I don't see the need for the negativity about any of it.

It's the same as all doms being referred to as over controlling, manipulative and abusive assholes. It's a broad stroke that touches on what we do in a rather stereotypical fashion.

Some would have a problem with it. Some might actually fit the description.

That was what I was trying to say on another thread about doormats...

I know some people want to identify like that, and that is fine by me, but to me a doormat is something I wipe my feet on because I do not want to get where I live dirty... its a shit wiper basically. I wouldn't want to be called toilet paper either.

I'm not at all saying I happily take up the derrogatory or practical connotations.  I mean that when people want to call what I do somehow weak, flawed, or wrong, I'd rather own it and find my own strength in the term.  I fully realize the unpleasantries associated with the item and the term.  I just don't find them relavent.  I wouldn't have been a "happy doormat" about two years ago, but now, yeah, I know that if I tumble into that level of submission that it is safe and I will be cared for.  It just doesn't mean the same thing anymore and what is left is a term that frankly makes me happy.

This comes down to what people WANT to be referred to. What makes them happy or unhappy.

Very few, whether it is personally or professionally want to be thought of as a door mat on a day to day basis.

We all respect that guy we work with who lays down for every one......... don't we.

Jeff

an ironic musing struck me:

I cannot allow myself to participate in a thread that is based solely upon an ironic musing. Too many bad memories.

It all stems from this nasty little episode.

Jeffff and I were at this dingy little bar, wearing our ascots and partaking in some hoppy beveri when he started to speak.

"Oh, Domiguy, just the other day I must confess that I had the most ironic musing..."

His sentence was cut short by me slamming my pint glass directly into his throat. I then proceeded to grab him by the back of his shirt and slam his forehead into the top of the bar a half dozen times. I then kicked out the barstool from under him and began to jump up and down on his chest.

Totally exhausted, I sat back down on my bar stool and slowly savored my hoppy beer.

Several minutes later, Jeffff regained consciousness and said, "Dude, what the fuck!!!"

I looked down at him and said, "Listen up, fuck stick...No one talks like that. Thank God that most people can go the entirety of their lives without suffering through a single ironic musing. No one wants to hear about your ironic musings, your contradictory contemplations or any of your puzzling paradoxes. Fuck you Jeffff. I hate you. You fucking cunt!!!

After a lengthy recovery, we managed to mend our fences and inevitably we became the hop bonded pair that you see here today!

It was really all for the best.

Oh domi, I think someone that would have ironic musings would instead quaff their hoppy beverage rather than savoring it, don't you? .

I felt so bad for Jeffff. I think he might have actually been kidding. But there are certain things that a man just doesn't joke around about.

I can accept that the dude is a Sox fan. Lives on the South Side.

"ironic musings" Hell to the no!!! Fucker deserved to die as if he had banged lushy.

Do people really trip over doormats this much?

Fuck me stupid. I've only seen the word Doormat used on subs profiles to express;

"I don't want to be a doormat"
"Not wanting to be anybodys doormat"

I always thought this was a no brainer...that they did'nt want to be treated in the same manner, respect and regard as a doormat. You know, don't walk all over me, treat me with a little human dignity and respect.

Doormat is a label attached to those who will by those who won't. Simple as that.

It is not my job to increase the self esteem amoung most people I  interact with.

It is ok if you don't keep score when you are 6 years old. In life the score is fucking kept. Sometime poor self esteem is warranted. It is the brains way of telling you that you are a loser and that you shoud stop that shit.

I don't see the Doormat Specials advertised much on the menus of the Troll Bar & Grill anyways.

Whip, there is a code. Better death than even the slightest embarrassment or discomfort.

August is a great month to drink hoppy beveri.

I am pretty sure those bitches from Ghana would lay on your front porch for 3 out of 4 seasons.

Of course when you REALLY need a door mat, in February in Chicago, that are gonna want to come inside.
