Its much more cost effective to just do the pizzas and cut them up in smaller peices.

Does anyone have a good punch recipe... I have a punch bowl that I never use and I want to use it dammit !! Actually it was my noona's punch bowl who recently died and i'm sure she would want it filled with yummy alcohol filled punch hehe

Fairly difficult to actually go wrong with punch;

cut-up fruit
cold sweet tea
spirits of your choice
one or two liqueurs if you fancy (don't mix anything that instinct tells you will taste icky as a combination)
enough fruit juice to dilute it to whatever level of sobriety you wish your guests to retain.

Don't forget a fruit one with lemonade or something in it for the kiddies!

NB be sure your punch bowl is actually big enough for the number of punch-drinkers; there's nothing worse than running out of punch before everyone has had some :-(

lusciouslips19 -> RE: Appetizer Ideas (3/11/2010 9:00:50 AM)

non alcoholic punch.

Fruit juice, gingerale and sherbet floating in it!

Domin8tingUrDrmz -> RE: Appetizer Ideas (3/11/2010 9:13:40 AM)

Orange/Peach/Mango Juice spiked with Bacardi O and Peach Schnapps. If you are feeling creative, chop up some mangoes and peaches to add to the punch.

Take your punch bowl and fill it about an inch full of whatever fruit juice you plan on using, stick it in the freezer until solid. Use that as your ice instead of water so it doesn't water down the punch.

SACRILEGE!!!

Divi, if you're going to go all seventies on your guests and make punch you've got to follow with the food and make some devilled eggs :-) .

"24 eggs, hardboiled, peeled, and halved, yolks separated into a bowl.
a good slug of white wine vinegar
1 small jar mayonnaise (I use low fat)
1-2 tablespoons dijon mustard
2 dessert spoons ketchup
1-2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
a generous slug of Worcestershire Sauce
2 teaspoons mild to medium curry powder
salt to taste
paprika for dusting

Mash the yolks finely with a fork, adding the slug of vinegar to help them cream. Stir in the mayonnaise to make a smooth paste, and beat quite hard to get air in. Then simply add the rest of the ingredients, somewhat tentatively at first and tasting as you go. Be careful with the cayenne, especially if you’re using the medium curry powder. Heat can be added but never subtracted. Once all the ingredients are in, go in with a whisk to keep the mixture fluffy. The mixture actually benefits from standing around for a few hours to let the flavours settle. Then just stuff the eggs, and pile it high on top and dust with paprika. You will have a bit more stuffing then you have eggs, so leave a bit for yourself and spread on toast!"

No party is complete without deviled eggs. They are gone within a minute. (runs to go boil eggs and make some for lunch).

Sheet, keep the punch non alcoholic and bore a hole in the watermelon and put a bottle of vodka in it![:D]

kittinSol -> RE: Appetizer Ideas (3/11/2010 9:23:19 AM)

Fuck, now I want some.

divi -> RE: Appetizer Ideas (3/11/2010 9:33:43 AM)

lusciouslips19 -> RE: Appetizer Ideas (3/11/2010 10:16:23 AM)

Well I had some. But I didnt hve enough mayo, so I used ranch dressing. I didnt have dijon mustard, soI used yellow. And I didnt have chil powder, so I used tabasco.[8|] But I did have the Worchesteshire...

calamitysandra -> RE: Appetizer Ideas (3/11/2010 11:11:00 AM)

If you want caprese fingerfood style, you can use cherry tomatoes and mini mozzarella balls. Slice in half, and assemble a half tomato with a half mozz ball, a leaf of basil in between , keep together with a toothpick.
Half a cherry tomato filled with crab, shrimp, chicken, or ham salad.
Homemade garlic bread. I have the recipe for the worlds best garlic butter.
A variety of mini quiches.
Small sate skewers with peanut dip.
Small balls rolled from cream cheese, or better fresh goat cheese with different coatings (Hungarian smoked paprika powder, fresh herbs, crushed nuts... )
Canape and finger sandwiches, maybe with cream cheese, smoked salmon, deli meats ...

I don't like the concept of children's food much. I like to broaden the sprogs taste horizon instead of narrowing it down. If you have a variety of food, the kids should be able to find things the know and like, and you can inspire them to try new things, maybe even find some new favourite.

This is so true!

calamitysandra -> RE: Appetizer Ideas (3/11/2010 1:29:16 PM)

However, it might yield slightly bizarre results. Right now, I have a 5 and a 10 year old with serious shrimp addictions.

BBQ pulled pork! Super easy if you do it in a crock pot, and it's always a hit at Mercnbeth's parties. Serve with little rolls for mini sammiches or with tortilla chips and cheese for pulled pork nachos.

Sweet and sour meatballs are also super easy in a crock (2 cans pineapple, 2 jars sweet and sour sauce, and as many meatballs as you can stuff into the crock), and awesome party snacks.

I got this for the cute little tyke....I sure hope mom doesn't gunk it all up before he has a chance to play with it.

1 can oj concentrate,
3 cans 151

That oughtta do it.

You really won't need any appetizers after that, also, after that, what kids?

divi -> RE: Appetizer Ideas (3/11/2010 2:02:56 PM)

Darlin I like how you think hehe

DarlingSavage -> RE: Appetizer Ideas (3/11/2010 2:03:53 PM)
