Its one of perception and of defensiveness...it occurs to me that the defensiveness is out of proportion to the reality.

Treasure do yourself a favor, go back and read my posts and Firms responses.

If there are any signs with miss spelled words at the rallys tomorrow, they will belong to the tea party crashers.

Treasure, you just repeated what I said. I clearly pointed out that there was a difference between those who call themselves supporters and those who identify as activists. You are saying the same thing I did in my post. Where is the disconnect?

I'm sorry, but if you came away believing that I said what you did, then I'd worry about reading comprehension if I were you.

The disconnect appears to be where you fail to recognize that while you may have outlined a difference between supporters and activists, it would appear that the polls you linked to fail to make that same delineation.

Please show me where the Gallup poll shows that Tea Partiers (supporters or activists) are not representative of "mainstream" America... because that is what you said...

.... I couldn't find any polls, except for the ones conducted on Fox News website, that showed the Tea Partiers as representative of "mainstream" America.

Sorry, domi... you won't find agreement from me.  I find most of your posts to be incomprehensible babble, anyway.

By the way, shall I declare to all here (in 24 point bold font, no less) that you are being disingenuous by not disclosing the fact that  Dale Robertson was kicked out of the Tea Party Society after the controversy over the sign?

show me anything where it says in that poll that the teabaggers are not overly racist?

brainiacsub -> RE: Tea Party Crashers (4/14/2010 7:51:14 PM)

Treasure, I'll repeat: the polls show that both supporters and activists are white, older, Conservative or very Conservative, deeply religious, and Republican. This is not mainstream America. This is the the right, and some might even argue center right, but still to the right.
In all the polls and data I read - and I only picked a few polls at random to post - the main difference between the supporters and activists was socio-economic. The supporters appeared to be more representative of mainstream America demographically (age, education, wealth), but I think the one thing that keeps them from being truly mainstream is the fact that they still identified as very religious. 40+% of Americans identify as Independent primarily because they are not religious and are socially more liberal than Conservatives. Oddly, in all the polls I read, the main difference between the supporters and the activists was socio-economic and that the activists also held extreme anti-govt views. Supporters generally did not. The activists are getting all the press coverage, so no wonder "the rest of mainstream America" associates the entire Tea Party with extremism. Maybe this isn't really fair, given what I've learned by analyzing the poll data.

Another quick point - If someone were to poll me and ask me if I believe in smaller govt, reducing deficits, more fiscal responsibility, more personal responsibility - the Tea Party agenda - then I would count myself among its supporters. The problem is, I don't believe many in the Tea Party understand the nature of the problems facing the country beyond a few talking points, and they certainly have no solutions beyond partisan ideology. Most are just angry - for good reason - but anger cannot be a platform for governing (I've said this several times in other threads).

slvemike4u -> RE: Tea Party Crashers (4/14/2010 7:56:31 PM)

One of the main reasons I typically don't respond nor do I pay much attention to polls....Phrase a question in the right manner and you will get just the answer you were seeking...Case in point  "4 out of 5 Dentists prefer Trident".Now while I am fully willing to accept the truth of the poll that eliceted this stat...I am just as confident that if I poll Dentists and ask if chewing gum is advisable in the first place.....4 and 9/10 will say no fucking way.[:D]

Did I say he wasn't? What in the hell is wrong with you two nutbags...The point is that Dale robertson runs the website...he is a leader. his feelings are clear on that sign...Go to his website.

I said the tea baggers are racist....Because they kicked him out doesn't change that fact....Got it?

What would you expect them to do....Hold him up on their shoulders? You are an idiot!

and Firm is a damn liar.

Jesus fucking christ is it so hard for you two to stay on point?

Then you are incapable of reading...Should I go back and show you the error of your Firmy's ways?

He has never been honest in his posting style and this is no different than what I have seen from him in the past.

First off we have Good ol' boy Dale holding up a "niggar" sign...then Firm, in his infinite wisdom, counters with the pic of two black guys holding up a sign and another dude just strolling through the crowd.

What is the connection??....because a couple of black dudes are at the rally negates that the founder of http://www.teaparty.org/ , Dale Robertson, is a racist?

That is a typical Firmslowmind response. Not on point and has nothing to do with the topic.

domiguy -> RE: Tea Party Crashers (4/14/2010 8:18:04 PM)

I think Firm might be illiterate. Probably shouldn't be allowed to vote.
